00:00I'd say stay weary of the Whispering Woods, especially if you don't want to sleep on finding this figure.
00:05Here's your look at the brand new Mattel, He-Man, and Massive Universe cartoon collection, Shadow Weaver, Evil Mistress of Dark Magic.
00:20It's an exciting time to be a Massive Universe fan.
00:23For longtime fans and for a new generation of kids who love the action and adventure,
00:27it's time to experience the thrilling action and adventure of He-Man, Skeletor, The Secrets of Castle Greyskull, and much more.
00:33The figures in this collection stand 5.5 inches tall and have 16 movable joints,
00:38so they're highly poseable for imaginative and action-oriented fun.
00:41While I'm convinced that He-Man's had eyes for Casta Spella,
00:43I have certainly had eyes for the cartoon collection, Shadow Weaver, and finally having her in hand.
00:48Before we look at the figure and all the accessories that she has,
00:51we're going to start things first by taking the tape measure and we'll see how tall the figure stands.
00:55And then, of course, we'll also bring in a good heaping helping of the Horde
00:58with all the cartoon collection figures that we've already gotten thus far.
01:02Thus far, though, let's take the tape measure.
01:04Shadow Weaver's going to stand at 5 inches in height,
01:07or the figure's going to work out to be 13 centimeters tall.
01:10Mattel certainly hasn't helped the Rebels.
01:12Most of the new cartoon collection figures, at least from She-Ra, have in fact all been the Horde.
01:17Bringing as the examples here the leader of the Horde,
01:19there's what she looks like with Hordak.
01:21Bringing then in Grizzlor off to the other side.
01:23Of course, we've got Mantena.
01:24Then we have Leech.
01:27Then we've got ourselves, of course, Catra.
01:29And, of course, if we are going to be looking at the cartoon collection, Shadow Weaver,
01:32while we don't have yet an Origins release of her,
01:35we have the next best thing.
01:36Here's what the figure looks like with the new Eternia release of her.
01:38Cast a Spella.
01:39You can't make that stuff up.
01:40Well, I guess they would have in order for that character to exist in the cartoon.
01:44Let's look, though, at the accessories that come and include with Shadow Weaver.
01:46Cast a Spella.
01:48The figure first does come included with an instruction sheet.
01:51Now, the sheet only really is there just to tell you that you can detach and divorce the arms from the torso.
01:56Remove the lower half like you're separating the tail of a lobster.
01:59And then, of course, you can also take off her head.
02:01Now, taking off her head does also mean that you can also remove her cape.
02:05The figure does have a cape on the back of her body.
02:08Let's discard this quickly.
02:09One thing I won't be discarding so quickly is the mini-comic.
02:12The mini-comic, though, as you've probably already seen the reviews of it,
02:16happens, though, to be the exact same one that came with Whiplash.
02:18When we look at Bo, Bo's on his way, Bo will also have the exact same comic.
02:23Luckily, though, at least, that both of them are in pretty good condition.
02:26If one was in bad shape, at least I could also turf that and keep the better one.
02:31Usually, though, I'll kind of keep as many of these as I have.
02:33Just, I don't really feel the need to get rid of everything.
02:36Just because, again, like if something happens to one of the mini-comics,
02:39usually at least you have two or three extra ones.
02:42The comic itself, obviously, we're not just going to look at the front cover.
02:44However, the cover, though, also is the starting of all the way they've drawn the inside of the comic.
02:50So each of the individual panels, you know, again, like some of the art is either good or bad.
02:54It never really meets in the middle.
02:56She-Ra looks okay down below here.
02:58Catra, not so much.
03:00One thing I really do like, and being that I don't think he ever appeared in the episodes looking like this,
03:05is a Horde-armored Skeletor.
03:07Yes, please.
03:09Mattel, if you can make that happen, I know it's probably not going to be a cartoon collection figure,
03:12but at the very least, if you could make a pink-clad armor Horde version of Skeletor,
03:19I would grab that right away.
03:20Just grab it like pulling an apple from a tree.
03:25And just having the juices running down my chin.
03:27What are we talking about here?
03:28We're talking about Horde Skeletor.
03:32Here's another look at him, by the way.
03:33One thing that's kind of cool, too, is that he also has the Horde face on his Havoc staff.
03:38How cool is that?
03:39So let's move that off to the side.
03:40Not moving it off to the side with the plans to discard these in the recycling bins,
03:44but just to kind of move it out of the way.
03:46One thing, though, the figure does also come in clue with is not only just her scepter,
03:49but she also comes with the Eldritch book.
03:52The Eldritch book of spells comes actually from the episode of the same name,
03:55the Eldritch Mist.
03:59I'm having a hard time getting that all out.
04:00The book itself does look very much like it does in the episode.
04:03Like the way that they've actually not only just printed this in the yellow,
04:08but the fact that this is actually sculpted in the plastic itself.
04:11I'm sure, though, they're probably not going to reuse this book.
04:13If you don't want to necessarily, though, use it with Shadow Weaver, hey, why not?
04:17You could also bring yourself in the cartoon collection.
04:20Now I'm drawing just a blank.
04:21Orko.
04:22Orko.
04:23And you could technically even really put the book in his hand as well.
04:27It's not the easiest thing to do.
04:28You sort of have to have the book resting with the thumb on top of it.
04:32And that seems the best way to have them, either one of them, for that matter,
04:35holding the Eldritch book.
04:37Eldritch book.
04:37Eldritch book.
04:38Eldritch book.
04:39The book, by the way, can also go into her hands.
04:42But pretty much the same rule of thumb works as well.
04:45You kind of have to have it resting on her fingers.
04:47And the thumb does most of the job of kind of holding it in place.
04:50The problem, though, with Shadow Weaver is that she has much smaller hands.
04:54So even just to have her holding the book, she needs to cast a spell of luck.
04:58Because you're not going to have much luck really having her holding the book properly.
05:01This other hand, I suppose you can also put the book in that hand as well.
05:05But again, like it's just sort of wedging it in there, walking away,
05:08and hope that nobody sneezes.
05:10Uh, uh, uh.
05:10Stop that.
05:11Stop that.
05:12Let's, though, remove the book.
05:14You can also, of course, take the scepter.
05:16I will say, though, the scepter is large.
05:18Did it really need to be the size that it is?
05:20I mean, it just, it looks like, first of all, a giant microphone.
05:23Like, maybe she's, you know, doing karaoke late at night in the Fright Zone.
05:28Fightful Frights with your host, Shadow Weaver.
05:31Thank you, everybody.
05:31Thank you for coming.
05:32Make sure you try the meatloaf.
05:34But the actual scepter, other than being really large,
05:36at least it does have some nice black painted in there as well.
05:39Even though, like, most of the majority of it is just cast here in gray plastic.
05:43Mic drop.
05:44Let's just move that off to the side.
05:45I'll say one thing, though, right away about Shadow Weaver,
05:48is I feel like the coloring is off.
05:49Not that I really would want to make the comparisons that the two Shadow Weavers should be the same color.
05:55But I think somewhere, though, met in the middle is the proper color of the cartoon collection.
05:59She really isn't as bright pink as really what's being depicted here.
06:03In fact, like, the figure, really, from the character standpoint,
06:05should be more, I think, like a darker reddish coloring of this.
06:09I feel it's way too bright.
06:11Now, the thing about Shadow Weaver, mentioned already,
06:14is that if you don't like the look of the cape,
06:16the cape being just a really big, long sheet of plastic,
06:19what you can do is you can detach her head,
06:21and you take the cape off altogether.
06:24Now, it makes, even for the fact,
06:25it draws more attention to the fact that the figure is much small.
06:28I mean, she's a really tiny character.
06:30I don't know really why you would ever really want to take the cape off,
06:33but it's there as an option if you want.
06:35Speaking of available there options,
06:37now, Shadow Weaver, one thing about her is she doesn't have feet.
06:41She's completely flat, or as flat as she could really be
06:43for the fact that she's a floating character.
06:45She stands fine.
06:46I mean, it's not the case that she does have any difficult time to stand.
06:49But if you are familiar, though, with this Shadow Weaver,
06:50she did actually come in clear with a display stand.
06:52This display stand did give her some additional posability.
06:55If this Shadow Weaver would be one that you'd like to have displayed in a similar way,
06:59what you can also do, too, is you can take yourself Orko, Orko, Orko,
07:05and you can detach the little display stand that came in clear with him.
07:08And if you look on, actually, the bottom of Shadow Weaver, there's a hole.
07:12Hello! Hello!
07:13There's a hole right there.
07:15You can actually take the display stand for Orko
07:17and just plug it onto the bottom like that.
07:20And hey, now you got yourself a floating Shadow Weaver.
07:23I do appreciate that they used a universally sized hole.
07:26So if you wanted to use Orko's display stand,
07:28now, granted, it means that Orko doesn't have himself a stand,
07:31but, I mean, all the more reason to get yourself a second one of these.
07:33Because now, at least, you can use the stand for Shadow Weaver.
07:37And, of course, when it comes to displaying the two,
07:39they're a little bit more like one another.
07:42Let's move her out of the way, though.
07:43Other than, really, the coloring kind of being off on the figure,
07:46I do think, like, the sculpting is really good on her.
07:49She has really a raspy voice in the actual episodes that she appears in.
07:53She looks very much like this,
07:55just other than the fact that she really isn't as bright of a neon pink
07:58as what we're getting here.
07:59Nice detail done, of course, down below.
08:01Horde has to be represented everywhere.
08:03She just happens to have it down below here on her belt.
08:05Of course, she's got the long sleeves.
08:07Now, there's no possibility at all for these.
08:09But, luckily, at least, she does have some mobility in her hands.
08:13Again, like a nice-looking figure.
08:14She just is a little on the smaller side.
08:16If we were just to compare her with, like, Catra,
08:18I guess size-wise, she's not all that bad.
08:20But she seems small, as if that makes any sense at all.
08:24Hopefully, what will make some sense,
08:25we're going to run through the figure's possibility.
08:27And, of course, she does have the little point on the tops of her,
08:29a little cloak hood there, hoodie.
08:31For the figure's articulation,
08:33Shadow Weaver does have a ball joint.
08:35This allows the figure to do the following.
08:37The head can move up and down, or all the way around.
08:40Only just a little bit up and down.
08:41A lot of it really is just the fact that this cape is getting in the way.
08:44If you bring the cape down just a little bit,
08:46she gets a little bit more clearance.
08:48But that's just you, of course, having to hold it down.
08:51Most of the time, the cape rides up.
08:53And it really does prevent a lot of mobility.
08:55So, just kind of hold it down a bit.
08:57And then you can angle the head.
08:59And then slowly back out of the room.
09:02The figure does have a bit of a head rocker back and forth, too.
09:05Of course, she only just has a straight swivel.
09:07You're not going to get much of anything, really, with Master Universe figures.
09:10Shadow Weaver does have arm articulation.
09:12I did notice, though, the arm is really tight
09:14when it comes to rotating it all the way around.
09:16It's almost like it's telling me,
09:17don't do it, don't do it.
09:18And yet I did it anyways.
09:20There's also a hinge that allows the arm to go out at 90 degrees,
09:23or a T-pose, if you prefer.
09:25The figure does also have a bend in the elbow.
09:27Now, the elbow bend does also serve as two purposes.
09:30One to do this.
09:31One to do this as well.
09:33As the arms do, of course, rotate back and forth.
09:35She does have hand swivelage
09:37if it's a little harder to get your hands on the hands.
09:40But you can't actually move them back and forth.
09:42And that's it.
09:43Normally, I would continue on my merry little way,
09:46walking my way down the legs,
09:47and you'd be able to do other stuff.
09:49But you can't really do any other stuff with Shadow Weaver
09:51for the lower end of the articulation.
09:53This is all she's going to be able to do.
09:55All in all, though, it's a nice-looking figure.
09:57Like, I really, always, really like the look of Shadow Weaver.
10:00She's one of those, certainly, characters
10:01where I think she's using the same voice as Catra.
10:03So it's just sort of like, again, the same voice actors,
10:06just sort of changing out their tones
10:07and adding raspier notes to certain characters over others.
10:11Shadow Weaver does look, again, a really neat-looking design.
10:14Again, if you really like the look of Shadow Weaver,
10:16whether we have already gotten ourselves,
10:17of course, the new Eternia release of her,
10:19I think there may be plans.
10:21I'm sure we are probably going to be getting a Shadow Weaver
10:23as part of the She-Ra Mass of the Universe origins line.
10:26Of course, when it comes to scaling,
10:28bringing back in the likes of Catra,
10:30I could have probably also brought in Evil Lin,
10:33Tila, or even She-Ra.
10:34But just the fact I did want to kind of stick,
10:36at least, with the baddies.
10:37She does, at least size-wise,
10:39even though she does look small,
10:40she's at least the same size, somewhat, as Catra.
10:43Let's just kind of move her out of the way.
10:45Okay, let's bring back in here some of the other, again, Horde members.
10:49There's Antenna, Leech.
10:52There's Kordak.
10:53And over here, Grizzlor.
10:56The only other thing, again, I would mention is,
10:58when it comes to her accessories,
11:00yeah, she does have the mic drop,
11:01which just right over here.
11:02Hey, everybody, thanks for coming out.
11:04And, of course, she does also have the book.
11:05The Book of Eldritch is still, again,
11:07a hard thing to say,
11:08an even harder thing for her to hold.
11:11She doesn't really have the proper gripping hands,
11:13or, really, for that matter,
11:14the hand really isn't designed to hold the book all that well.
11:16Still, though, I mean, you can try your best.
11:19I did have her holding the book at the beginning of this review.
11:21Dang it, though, I am going to also make sure
11:23that she's holding the book when we wrap up the review.
11:25But, again, you can see, like, she barely holds onto it.
11:28At least, though, it's an accessory
11:29that makes an appearance in the episode
11:31in the same way that Shadow Weaver makes an appearance in the episode.
11:33The one other thing I really wish, though,
11:35that could have made the appearance with this figure release
11:37is also a display stand.
11:39Sure, it's fine and good that you can use the one
11:40that comes in clear with Orko,
11:41but you take Orko's,
11:43then what poor Orko is going to have
11:45for when it comes to levitation?
11:47I think that she should have had that as an accessory.
11:49Certainly, though, it was the case
11:50when we got the new Eternia release of her.
11:52I see Weaver has used the spell of thievery
11:54and stolen the display stand from poor Orko.
11:57Not Sigourney Weaver, by the way.
11:59This is her evil sister.
12:00They never really speak.
12:01They come together from time to time for family functions.
12:03Half the time, though, they don't even talk.
12:05One thing, though, about Shadow Weaver
12:07is that at least they did use a hole
12:08and they put it at the top of her cloak.
12:10So while, unfortunately, though,
12:11the figure doesn't have, I guess,
12:13enough of the budget to be dedicated
12:14to a display stand on her own,
12:16she can at least steal the one from Orko.
12:19Orko right now is standing in the corner
12:20wondering when his display stand is going to come back.
12:22Don't worry, big buddy.
12:23The display stand is going to be coming back
12:24right to you after this review is over.
12:27Shadow Weaver, of course,
12:28from the accessory standpoint,
12:30does have the Scepter and the Eldritch book.
12:32Boy, I had a hard time saying that in the review.
12:34Eldritch book from the Eldritch mist.
12:37One of the better episodes of She-Ra.
12:40Of course, they kind of make a spell mist
12:43around the whispery woods or whispering woods.
12:46And then He-Man and She-Ra have to go
12:48and basically get the book back
12:50in order to cancel out the spell.
12:52Of course, through that,
12:53he also is hanging out with Castispella.
12:56Castispella.
12:58Again, you can't make that stuff up.
12:59What do you guys, though,
13:00think of Cartoon Collection Shadow Weaver?
13:02Again, not to be confused with Sigourney.
13:04Is this a figure that you guys could see picking up
13:06or is it just a total pass?
13:08If you certainly would like to summon the summons
13:10or cast the spell of Subscribe,
13:13it's actually not that hard spell to cast at all.
13:15You basically just have to look
13:16at the bottom of the screen.
13:17It's right there.
13:18And right next to there is also as well the bell.
13:21Turning on the bell will be, of course,
13:23the spell to summon and cast at least the spell
13:25to make sure that YouTube is aware
13:27that this channel exists.
13:28I hope that you guys are going to be coming back
13:30to this channel because,
13:31well, unfortunately, though,
13:32not much more can be said for Cartoon Collection.
13:35I don't think we're going to be looking at
13:35any more figures for the rest of this week,
13:37but there will still be more reviews coming your way.
13:41As always, guys, thanks for watching.
13:42See you guys next time.
