00:00If you ask me, I think it's costing Mattel way too much to run their factories on Thundrillium.
00:05Here's a look at the Mattel Math Universe Thundercats, Panthro, Heroic Thundarian, Battlemaster.
00:10Panthro stands by Lino's side, ready to defeat evil across all ends of the universe.
00:30Panthro, my man, I'm so glad you stepped away from fixing the Thunder Tank to join us for this review,
00:34because obviously it wouldn't be a review without you.
00:35We're going to take first the tape measure, we're going to see how tall the figure stands,
00:38then what we'll do is we'll bring in the other figures we've looked at so far, thus far, from the Mattel Universe Thundercats line.
00:44One thing that was always really cool about Panthro was his deep voice.
00:47Earl Hyman, in fact, did provide the voice of him in the early 80s cartoon.
00:52You probably would recognize him right away as being Russell Huxtable on The Cosby Show.
00:57Man, oh man, what a voice that guy had.
00:59This voice isn't going to be nearly as deep, but I can tell you at least,
01:03that Panthro is going to stand a little taller than six inches in height, maybe six and a quarter.
01:08That's going to translate to a figure that's 15 and a half centimeters tall, working our way backwards.
01:13The last figure that we had a look at this week, in fact, was Tim Curry's Tigra.
01:17Tim Curry's Tigra.
01:19Curry, in fact, Tigra that is, stands quite a bit taller than Panthro,
01:23and where he doesn't have necessarily the height, he certainly has the size.
01:28We also, this week, looked at Lion-O, so we can bring him in as well.
01:31And it wasn't this week, but we also looked at Chitara.
01:34Chitara still is the figure that has the hardest time to stand, because she's got tiny, tiny little cat feet.
01:40Get her just to balance just a bit there.
01:42Last week, or maybe was it last week? I think it was last week, we also looked at Battle Cat Man,
01:47so we can bring him in.
01:48And, of course, you have to be the foil for the Thundercats, so let's bring in also Mumra.
01:52It's going to be the foil for paper pamphlets.
01:54Whatever pamphlets I get, I discard right away.
01:56Still, I always spend a few seconds just to show you guys that on this side, right over here,
02:02you can have the way that he looks in the original cartoon.
02:05Granted, though, he starts this way when you get him out of his plastic prison.
02:09The only one thing, actually, no, the two things that have been added in gray
02:14is the little bolo, bolo on the chain, or the ball and chain, and he also does have a mask.
02:19Neither one of them are currently on the figure.
02:21In a second, though, I will also show you what he looks like with those things on.
02:26Whew!
02:27Along with this, can I entertain the idea that the figure does also have a mini-comic
02:31entitled The Power Sword of Omens?
02:34Just going to bring in, though, the one that we already got from Tigra.
02:37They are exactly the same.
02:38So if one was to come along and spill soda all over your mini-comic, man, that would really suck.
02:44But it would suck a little less, knowing that you had yourself a backup.
02:48And if you had, then, another figure, which would be then He-Man,
02:51He-Man I've also ordered, I'm just waiting for him to arrive,
02:53then you could also spill soda on this one, spill sour cream on this one.
02:58Where are we going with this?
02:59Are we bringing mini-comics out to parties?
03:02But at least you had, you know, you'd have three of them at least to work with.
03:05I only really need one to work with to show you guys what the interior looks like.
03:09Again, I love the styling of the inside drawings.
03:12I think, all in all, they've been really good so far.
03:14I love this look of Skelra, too, even though it's not the way I display the figure.
03:18And speaking of He-Man, there's He-Man there on the side.
03:22Again, we're going to be looking at him when he eventually arrives.
03:24On the back, there's also the advertisements of the two other characters,
03:28Tigra being, of course, the one we've already had a look at, and He-Man, just to be decided.
03:33Let's move that off to the side.
03:35What's rather interesting, though, about Panthero is not just the fact that he's probably one of the easiest armors to remove,
03:40but he also is different in the sense that his little furry booties would normally have been the thing that would be MOTU-related.
03:46These happened to be things that were inside the tray with the figure.
03:50I don't know why I'm moving things around while I'm talking about it.
03:53Normally, though, the rule of thumb, or in this case, the rule of boots,
03:56would be that the figure would generally have the MOTU boots first,
04:00and then you would have to detach them, and you'd have to swap them with these instead.
04:04I guess, as a bad reviewer, I probably should have started the review with these already on the figure's body.
04:09I'm going to probably just leave these all off anyways,
04:12because the look that I really want to have for Panthero is the look he currently has right now with some of the armor removed.
04:18One armor that's been removed, though, is the figure does come out of the plastic prison with his mask.
04:23This mask does look rather interesting.
04:25Actually, the way that it's designed, it looks like the old...
04:28Remember, like, the Wolverine figure?
04:30Who released that? Toy Biz?
04:31Toy Biz did release a Wolverine figure where you could get yourself the mask and wear it like a ring.
04:35I can wear Panthero's mask like a ring.
04:38The mask at least is soft enough in plastic that you can do that.
04:41Whether you have fat fingers or thin fingers, they should still at least...
04:45And I should really put in a footnote down below.
04:47It may not fit all fingers.
04:49If you have a very chubby finger, a finger this wide.
04:52Who's got fingers this wide?
04:54Andre the Giant's fingers.
04:55There's no way I'm sure this mask would be able to fit over top of that.
04:58It does, however, though, fit rather well over top of Panthero's face.
05:01Giving him, though, at least the mask does match at least the color scheme that they're going with.
05:06This gold color happens to be represented here in a mouth guard that covers over top of his neck,
05:11his shoulders, and this really cool swappable cannon piece that he has on the ends of his arm.
05:17This just basically plugs in.
05:19He basically holds it like a handle.
05:21And it does then give him two options available for extra weapons.
05:24I think that's really cool.
05:25For those weapons, though, the figure does come included first with an axe.
05:29Yes, the axe almost does look like it's sharp on the sides.
05:32I can assure you by the way I'm doing right now.
05:34I'm not drawing any bit of blood.
05:36No, I'm just kidding.
05:38I do like the look of this.
05:40I wish, though, that they could have made this a universal-sized one that could have also worked with Trapjaw.
05:45I've already tried it with Trapjaw.
05:46It doesn't also clearly work because with Trapjaw, I think it actually worked with pegs.
05:50Those plugged in place where this actually fits on the end of that knob.
05:53The knob is way too big.
05:55What are we talking about large knobs?
05:55On the end of his arm, there's too large of a knob that that would never really work with Trapjaw.
06:00So you can't use these accessories.
06:02You can't also use the ball and chain.
06:04The ball and chain, though, while being, unfortunately, all molded in plastic,
06:08at least it's a soft enough plastic that you can pretend that this does move around.
06:12Just don't move it too much for the risk that right here, not so much here, but I did notice turning this,
06:19it does actually rotate.
06:21So you're not necessarily breaking the plastic.
06:23I don't know, though.
06:24You've got to really be careful that when you are turning it, though, you don't turn it by the actual plastic itself.
06:30Because if you turn at the link, you probably would shred the plastic quickly and break this completely off.
06:35But it does actually have posability, so you can rotate the ball all the way around.
06:39I think that's really cool.
06:40So how these work is that there's a hole on both the ends.
06:44And what you do is you basically take this gauntlet weapon that he has and you just plug it on the end.
06:50Now, while I don't have plans for Panthro to be wielding something like this, I'm sure, though, I'm going to be using it for another MOTU figure.
06:57It's a simple enough thing.
06:58It basically just clamps around his arm and he just holds it as a handle.
07:01So that's what it looks like with the axe.
07:04And then we'll do the same thing again with the ball and chain.
07:07It just attaches on the end like that.
07:08I would probably only entertain Panthro as having an accessory where I would keep it, even though it doesn't really necessarily belong with him if you want him to obviously look like the 80s cartoon Panthro.
07:20I just think that's so super cool.
07:22To remove that, by the way, all you really have to do is obviously take this off first.
07:27And this just clips from around his arm.
07:29So this just clips around his forearm and then he just holds on to this as a handle.
07:33Very soft plastic, by the way.
07:35Okay, let's also remove his mask, too, because we will be stripping this guy down, because underneath all this would be regular Panthro's body.
07:42When you do all that, I'm sure you'll reward then the figure with, of course, his nunchucks.
07:47His nunchucks do have, of course, the red handle and the blue handle.
07:51I think in the series, though, this shot fire, this shot ice, if I remember that correctly.
07:55And it does have a chain, so you can actually work it like a real nunchuck.
07:59Did I ever bore you guys with the story of me as a Thundercat collector, as a kid?
08:06I always really wanted to get either a Lion-O or a Panthro.
08:08Ideally, though, because I wanted to get a Lion-O.
08:10He would have been the first figure I would have picked out.
08:12Because I had a friend, though, Damon, who had already a Lion-O, convinced me otherwise.
08:18He said, you know, bro, if we ever play Thundercats, well, I already have a Lion-O.
08:22You might as well pick up a Panthro.
08:24Sure enough, though, as I picked up a Panthro, about three weeks later, Damon moved away.
08:31So I was stuck with, I was relegated, unfortunately, with a Panthro.
08:34I really wanted to get a Lion-O.
08:36Nobody cares at all about that story.
08:38I hope, though, that you care that this figure does actually have an ability to hold the nunchuck.
08:42Now, you can have, with the length of the chain, him to hold it with both his hands.
08:47Of course, this would also be very helpful, too, if the figure did have gripping hands.
08:50And, in fact, he does on both sides.
08:54So, taking the nunchuck, though, and moving him off to the side, if you did want to strip
08:58away the armor for Panthro, one of the easiest things for this figure, it's not as worrisome.
09:03Now, again, I'm not going to swap out the boots.
09:05The boots would just be a case of popping out the existing boots that he had.
09:08I'm kind of really surprised that they decided not to sculpt or not to start the figure in
09:12the packaging with these first.
09:13I wonder, though, if a lot of it has to do with this armor here.
09:17This armor, by the way, is just, again, clamped in place.
09:19So, you just pry it off, essentially, from the figure's calf, and just remove it all
09:23together.
09:25This one's a little harder to do.
09:26With the shoulder armor, you have to actually take the hand off first.
09:31There we go.
09:32And then, from there, you just take the shoulder and slide it all the way down.
09:35Once it really clears the elbow, it's loosey-goosey after that.
09:39And then put the hand back in place.
09:42He does also have spikes on his wrist there.
09:45I like, really, the look of the spikes.
09:46If I don't decide to use this...
09:48There we go.
09:50Look at that.
09:50That's cool.
09:51If you don't decide, obviously, to use this with panthro, again, I'm sure there'll probably
09:54be a strong contender with another figure.
09:56If you're customizing yours, you could use the spiked bracelet for another figure instead.
10:03Okay, let's just stop doing that.
10:04We're going to also remove the hand, obviously, on this side, too.
10:08I would almost even think, like, the spiked bracelet would work well with a panthro.
10:12But to show you guys what it looks like without it, again, I'm just going to twist the
10:15hand off the peg and slide it off completely.
10:18What else do we need to do?
10:19Well, we also need to take off this loincloth.
10:22And first, though, let's get that all the way on there.
10:24Now, the loincloth, how that works, instead of having to detach the torso, there's just
10:28a peg on the back of the body.
10:30So you just unpeg this and slide the loincloth all off.
10:34This is now, again, the chance where you get yourself the Thundercat symbol, looking at
10:38just as good as all the other figures.
10:39And for the most part, we have ourselves a finished panthro.
10:42The only last thing left to do is to take off the head.
10:46The head is a little harder to get to just because he's got the color piece around that.
10:50Slide this off, put that to the side, and pop it back the way we left it.
10:54There we go.
10:56And just like that, you got yourself a panthro.
10:58Looking nice.
10:59Looking nice indeed.
11:00And in this review, this is actually one of the exceptions.
11:02Most of the time, we've had to change out the boots.
11:04I've just decided not to do that.
11:06So, like, that's what the boot would normally have looked like.
11:08We got yourself the regular panthro boots underneath, complete with the little tassels
11:12there to the side, which are softer plastic.
11:15Still has the spikes there on the front.
11:16Now, these spikes in the cartoon he could also deploy.
11:19Obviously, for the sake of the budget and how much that would cost, you can't deploy
11:22these.
11:23Not at all.
11:24But again, like, that's what panthro would look like.
11:26And just to bring back.
11:27Should we bring them back all now or wait till the end of the review?
11:30Maybe we'll bring them in now.
11:31So there's Lino.
11:34Tigra.
11:35Tigra, right over here.
11:36And again, there's Chitara.
11:38Wily Cat, we still don't have yet.
11:40We also clearly don't have a snarf.
11:42I wonder where we're going to be getting for options for a snarf.
11:44But I like the look of the characters.
11:45And I like the fact that you can revert them back to their 80s cartoon.
11:49Getting, though, also a closer look at panthro, I do think there's some really nice airbrushing
11:53that they've done to the front of his body.
11:55Instead of having a sharp stop where the white on the front of his body, the lighter color,
12:00is just abruptly stopped.
12:01They sort of had more transitioned it.
12:03So they've airbrushed it so it blends a little bit more to the purple.
12:06This purplish blue that he has looks very much like the original cartoon of obviously
12:10panthro.
12:10The face sculpt looks good too.
12:12Boy, that's a nice looking face for panthro.
12:15Again, if you wanted to, I suppose you could take the armor off.
12:17There's a peg on the back.
12:18This would just untap.
12:19And he would just completely take the torso armor off.
12:23I prefer just to really leave it on myself.
12:25I mean, again, you got some nice painting down below here.
12:27The symbol looks like it's a little off aligned.
12:29Like, it doesn't seem like it's dead in center.
12:31It looks like it's leaning off to the side.
12:34Other than that, though, I think that the look of the panthro looks very good.
12:37Very good indeed.
12:38Do I have any desired interest to put the armor ever back on the figure?
12:41No, not at all.
12:43This is, if anything, going to go back in a bag with all the other just remaining parts
12:47that have no purpose at all.
12:49I'm just going to move it off to the side.
12:50You really, I mean, again, like you probably could imagine what the bag would look like.
12:53I've got like Linos parts in there, Chitarra's parts, Tigra's, everything, and even
12:57like Skelver's parts.
12:58The real way that I want to have these figures displayed is the way they look from, again,
13:02the Thundercats cartoon.
13:04Moe 2 sure as a collaboration works fine on paper.
13:06I'm more actually happy that the Thundercats are being represented than I am to have Moe
13:112 parts just making the figures overly busy when they don't need to be in the first place.
13:16Panthro's articulation, though having a bigger frame, works exactly the same.
13:20The head's going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate all the way
13:23around.
13:24It looks down, I know, for a second it looks like it may have missed it.
13:28It looks down, it looks up, and you can also move it all the way around.
13:32Panthro's arms didn't have to be disassembled at all, so they stay nice and secure.
13:36You can rotate them all the way around.
13:38Panthro pulls off a T-pose, and there's a hinge, just a single hinge there in the elbow,
13:43so it allows the elbow to bend only by a little bit.
13:46So that's the straight arm.
13:47This is the bent arm.
13:50Not much, I know.
13:51Hands rotate all the way around.
13:52You can hinge them back and forth as well.
13:55Panthro's torso is a little tighter, just because, again, he's got the bandolier armor
13:58over top of it.
14:00The legs still manage to bend out easily enough.
14:02They work on ball joints, after all.
14:03The legs move forward.
14:04They move back.
14:05There's a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
14:07Single hinge for the knee.
14:08Now, I did notice, though, with Panthro, my legs at least, not my legs, Panthro's legs,
14:13seem loose too soon, getting them out of the packaging.
14:16I don't know why they're as loose.
14:17This one isn't as bad.
14:18This leg seems very overly loose.
14:21The boots obviously need to swivel for the sake that they swap out with the boots and
14:24the other ones in the packaging.
14:26I'm just choosing not to put them on.
14:28He does have an ankle pivot.
14:29He does have an ankle rocker.
14:30And with all the other Thundercats too, Panthro too, also have pegels on the bottoms of their
14:35feet.
14:36Maybe I'm a little bit more attached to Panthro just because, again, like thanks to Damon,
14:40who moved away three weeks later, I end up picking up a Panthro where, ideally, I really
14:44want to get myself a lino.
14:46All in all, though, again, like the Thundercats have been, I think, quite successful, if you
14:51really ask me.
14:52Some still don't like the look of lino, and I get that.
14:54Some still think that that looks a lot like Tim Curry, and I buy that.
14:57But I think for most part, we've had ourselves quite successful-looking Thundercats.
15:01The best thing about the line has been so far that you can take the armor all off.
15:05I haven't done that yet for Battle Catman, even though I did do it in the review painfully
15:09because I didn't know at the time that you could detach the bandolier armor on the back.
15:12Like, he's about really the only one that's going to stay in his armor, because it just
15:15doesn't seem for me like it makes, it misses the point to have him stripped down as Gringer,
15:20as Cringer.
15:21I would rather really just have him displayed as Battle Catman.
15:24And then again, there is Mumra, who did start in the packaging technically as Skelvra.
15:28Every figure, really, other than Battle Catman have been stripped down of their armor.
15:33I don't mind that at all.
15:35Because again, like, one of the things that I think is the most successful about this
15:39line is the fact that you don't have to have them looking the way that they do when you
15:43get them in their packaging.
15:45If you don't like Panther with having all this unnecessary armor, something like that.
15:48I don't, I'm not going to fault those that actually like to have their figures displayed
15:51with some of the MOTU armor.
15:53For me personally, the whole reason why I like the Thundercats line in the first place
15:56was the way that I can have them now displayed on the shelf, the way they originally looked
16:00in the 80s for Panthero.
16:02Therefore, luckily for me, the figure has some of the easiest armor to remove.
16:06If it isn't only clamped onto the front of the figure's limbs, then it's slid on like
16:09the shoulder pad.
16:10The shoulder pad may involve you having to remove the hand from the forearm, but then
16:13shimmy, shimmy down the shoulder pad it goes.
16:15His belt is easily detached by only just attaching it from itself.
16:19As for the, like, the neck guard, the neck guard may involve you having to remove his head
16:23from the rest of his body, but it's only really attached by a ball joint.
16:26Everybody knows how to remove a head by a ball joint, and then off the neck collar it
16:29goes.
16:30I would have normally said at this point in the review, the hardest thing would have
16:33been to remove the boots.
16:34Well, Mattel never put on the boots in the first place.
16:36The MOTU furry boots were already inside the clamshell tray along with Panthero and all
16:41the other accessories.
16:42My thought, though, is that they probably didn't put them on the figures anyway, because like
16:46the way that the leg guard works, it has to fit closely to the boots.
16:50With the fur being in the way, I don't think that the boot guard would have worked as
16:54well, and they've already saved me the hassle of having to remove it in the review.
16:57The boots were never really an issue.
16:59It's always really the feet.
17:01The feet have to attach like slippers, and you'll see that, we've seen in the other
17:05reviews that I've done of these, the feet always seem to be the one thing I struggle
17:08the most to do.
17:09Panthero looks the part.
17:10I mean, yeah, as a kid, though, I more attached to Panthero than I do Lino, just because,
17:15again, like Damon, who eventually would then have moved away three weeks later, but he
17:19peer pressured me.
17:20He said, dude, like, we can't play two Linos together.
17:22So he pushed me to say, like, you have to pick another figure, and I ended up picking
17:26a Panthero.
17:27In hindsight, had I known that Damon would have moved away, I would have said, I'm sorry,
17:31Damon, I really want to pick a Lino, and if that isn't going to work for you, I'll find
17:35another friend who wants to play Thundercats.
17:37Now we can certainly play Thundercats, having now four figures in.
17:40I mean, yeah, there's also the Battle Cat Man, we've also got the Skelvra and Mumra, but
17:44if you look at the core team, we've got a Panthero, we've got a Tigra, we've got a Lino,
17:48we've got a Chitara, we still need a Wily Kit and Wily Cat, we still need a Snarf.
17:53Yeah, I know, there's Linkzor, there's all the other ones there as well, but if you really
17:55want the original trio, I guess in this case, the original five, no, would that be the original
17:59five?
18:00The original six plus Snarf, that's seven, right?
18:02If we still don't have a Wily Kit, we don't have a Wily Cat, I don't know if Mattel's
18:05going to decide to pack those together or sell them separately.
18:09I would think, though, if they decide to sell them separately, Wily Kit and Wily Cat will
18:13probably have a bundleable amount of accessories that justify the price, or what they might
18:17even do, too, is do a Mattel Creations two-pack of a Wily Kit and Wily Cat.
18:22What do you guys think of this line so far, and who has been your favorite?
18:25Is it maybe a Panthero?
18:26Did you also feel as a kid that you're pressured to buy a figure that you didn't really want
18:30because the friends that you were playing with, Damon, I'm not going to single out Damon
18:33for this, but did you ever have a friend that said, hey, dude, I think you really need
18:37to buy this figure because he already had the one that you wanted to get?
18:41Share your horror stories down below.
18:43Okay, they're not maybe horror stories, but let me know down below if you've ever had
18:46any experience like that.
18:48I certainly hope, though, you guys have enjoyed the experience of watching this Panthero review.
18:52If you have, do it to solve by throwing a like.
18:54You guys want to stick around for more, so?
18:56I hope so.

19:00We're going to kind of be wrapping up, or at least in this case, taking a break away from
19:04Thundercats while I'm waiting for the He-Man to arrive in the mail, but there will be,
19:07though, more reviews coming your way for the rest of this week, so I hope to see you
19:10guys for those.
19:11As always, guys, thanks for watching.
