00:00If we'd have flipped this guy from Filmation, heads he'd win, tails you'd lose.
00:04Here's your look at the brand new Mattel, He-Man, and Master Universe cartoon collection,
00:07Whiplash, Evil, Tail, Thrashing, Warrior.
00:23It's an exciting time to be a Master Universe fan.
00:26For long-time fans, and for a new generation of kids who love the action and adventure,
00:29it's time to experience the thrilling action and adventure of He-Man, Skeletor,
00:32The Secrets of Castle Greyskull, and much more.
00:35The figures in this collection stand 5.5 inches tall and have 16 movable joints,
00:40so they're highly poseable for imaginative and action-oriented fun.
00:43Man, having this guy delivered from the Demon Zone got quite expensive,
00:46but we can finally say at least we've got our hands on the cartoon collection Whiplash.
00:50In a second, though, I'll bring in the Origins Whiplash so you guys can see the differences there,
00:54and we'll also maybe bring in some cartoon collection figures as well.
00:56I don't want to really get ahead of myself just yet.
00:59What are we going to do first?
01:00Of course, what we're going to do first is we're going to take the tape measure.
01:02What exactly is the tape measure going to tell us about the height of the figure?
01:05Well, that Whiplash stands about 6 inches in height, or roughly 15 centimeters tall.
01:11The release of Whiplash does also advertise the episode The Betrayal of Stratos.
01:15So for that, for obvious reasons, we're going to bring in the cartoon collection Stratos.
01:18It has also to do with the Egg of Avion,
01:20which I really think could have been a fun accessory to include with him.
01:23Instead, some boob decides to give him a bazooka.
01:25Let's bring in some other boobs as well.
01:27Here's what the figure looks like with Trapjaw.
01:29Why not the cartoon collection Merman?
01:30Off to the far side here as well, here's what he also looks like with Beastman.
01:34And like we've always really done when it comes to the cartoon collection figures,
01:36if we're going to look at the cartoon collection,
01:38if I have it available, here's also the Origins Whiplash as well.
01:41Thrown-in things for the figure are a mini-comic and a bazooka.
01:44About-to-be-thrown-out things, though,
01:45are the paper pamphlet that tells you you can mix and match the parts.
01:48To tell you what parts can be mixed and swapped around are all the ones in grey.
01:52So you can pop out the head, you can swap out the arms,
01:54you can detach the lower half of his body from the top half of his body,
01:57and as well, you can mix and match his boots.
02:01Let's go look at the mini-comic.
02:03The mini-comic is entitled Final Fright.
02:06It does feature Bo.
02:07Bo is actually one figure that I have on the way,
02:09so we're going to be looking at him in an upcoming review.
02:11There's also as well Shadow Weaver down below,
02:13and a pretty, I don't know, seem but somber-looking She-Ra.
02:16Of course, there's Whiplash on the top corner.
02:19On the back, though, there's also the advertisements of Bo, Whiplash, and Shadow Weaver.
02:22Again, we are going to be looking at these two figures.
02:24This one sooner than this one.
02:26And if we just quickly flip through the comic,
02:29even though it makes mention of She-Ra,
02:30actually, there is also an appearance of Skeletor.
02:34Skeletor's colors look really rather strange,
02:36because he's also wearing a Horde uniform.
02:38I think that would be certainly a fun release,
02:40even if it's a convention-exclusive release Horde version Skeletor.
02:44However, I'm going to flip through this.
02:45I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time,
02:47but I do think the animation is pretty good in this.
02:49The drawing style is somewhat, it's hit or miss sometimes.
02:51Sometimes it looks a little bit better than others.
02:53He-Man still, though, I think looks terrible.
02:55But I think Skeletor, though, wearing the Horde outfit,
02:58Horde uniform, looks really cool.
03:00Let's put that off to the side.
03:01Now, Whiplash does, though, come included with a bazooka.
03:05I really would have preferred, though, the Egg of Avion.
03:07I would imagine, though, it probably would have been a good-sized accessory,
03:10and maybe they just wouldn't work all that well.
03:11Also, even really the floating head of Kral would have been cool from that episode as well.
03:16Unfortunately, though, what he gets, though, for accessories is just a standard bazooka.
03:19I say standard sort of downplaying it.
03:21I guess a bazooka is pretty cool of an accessory,
03:23because it's one of those things that doesn't really attach to a specific episode accessory.
03:29You could very well then lend this around.
03:31Give it to another figure instead.
03:32You know, give it to Triclomps.
03:33Give it to really, again, anybody.
03:35Now, this does fit into his hands.
03:37He does actually already have on the ends of his forearms gripping hands,
03:40so it's easy to actually choose which hand you want to use,
03:43because you have the options of both.
03:45Just basically get that into his hand,
03:47and you can either kind of having it kind of up like a bazooka like that.
03:50I know on the back of the packaging, they also sort of have his, bend his elbow here.
03:54They sort of have him also holding it like this as well.
03:57Now, I don't know if I really would want to have my hand too close to the part that fires off like this,
04:02but, you know, again, like, to have something like this as a weapon,
04:05I think probably makes more sense than something that's so specific to the episode,
04:09like the Egg of Avion or that big floating head of Kral.
04:12Let's take the accessory, though, out of his hand.
04:14We'll kind of put it off to the side.
04:15There was one little bit of assembly that was required, as you probably would expect.
04:19The back tail was a separate piece.
04:21I don't know if I can actually take this back off now that I've already attached this onto the back.
04:25It's rubber plastic, by the way,
04:27but it would have had to have pegged on the back of his torso,
04:29and once it's in there, I think what likelihood there would be of me removing it?
04:34It's probably very slim, so I'm just going to leave it alone.
04:36I don't want to really break the tail.
04:38The tail really, though, was attached a little bit differently on the back of the original Origins,
04:43in that the entire torso actually was just this tailpiece.
04:46It's actually also a little more harder of a plastic,
04:49where I feel like the plastic they use for the cartoon collection whiplash has a little bit more give.
04:54For the sculpting, though, of the figure, and we'll obviously look at his head sculpt,
04:57he seems like a debunked design for Shrek.
05:01Does he not look like a Shrek character,
05:02or somebody that certainly would have been related to Shrek?
05:04He does have what looks almost to be like a three chin.
05:08Maybe there's just only a double chin.
05:09I shouldn't really make such obvious points to the fact this guy looks a little overweight.
05:13Funny, though, enough, he's actually very muscular everywhere else in the rest of his body,
05:17yet he seems very swollen in the chin area.
05:20He's fairly accurate to the way he looks in the episode.
05:22I think his skin's just a little bit darker than what we actually get right here,
05:25but I think the colors are pretty close.
05:26I like that they've used a really bright lime green for the arms, the head, the lower torso,
05:30and then they've gone and used a more dark military green for the torso, the belt.
05:35Not really down below in his boots, because his boots are actually using more of a purple plastic.
05:39Actually, what's different, though, about the cartoon collection
05:42is that Whiplash has kind of more monster feet.
05:45Well, monster in the sense that they look a little bit more like Skeletor's feet,
05:49whereas if you look at the original Origins figure,
05:51it definitely had the bigger, larger feet like Buzz-Off would have had.
05:53Looking, though, at the two differences, obviously there is quite a lot of difference.
05:57He certainly has a much uglier face for the Origins line.
06:00The original vintage figure also would have had this exact same look, too.
06:04He certainly is a little bit more smoother, a little bit more acceptable.
06:07He also looks like he may have been drawn by Disney.
06:10Clearly, though, we know he's been drawn by Filmation.
06:12I really all along like the look of Whiplash.
06:15He's certainly one of those characters that really would work well,
06:17especially if you already have, like, the other cartoon collection,
06:19Cronies of Skeletor, sort of all have them sprinkled around.
06:22Even though, really, he has more, really, to do with, like, again,
06:25Kral, working for Kral, and, like, protecting the gate.
06:28I think in the episode, in fact, the gate can only be opened twice.
06:31Somehow he feels that dealing with He-Man and the rest of all of his men
06:34was a valid enough reason to open up the gate.
06:37Anyways, though, the figure does look good.
06:39I mean, again, like, I like the way that they've attached the tail.
06:41The tail is one of those things, too, that obviously gives him some stability.
06:44The original Whiplash and some of the ones that have used examples of Whiplash's tail
06:49usually causes a character to lean a little bit more further forward.
06:52The cartoon collection, in actual fact, actually has him more leaning backwards,
06:56but he stands perfectly fine.
06:58For the figure's articulation, let's go ahead and pick him up back,
07:01pick him up back up again.
07:02The head's going to be, obviously, on a ball joint,
07:04so with that allows this much swiveling, rotation all the way around.
07:08In fact, you could do this all day, really, if you want to.
07:10I'm not going to do that.
07:14I guys clearly have places you need to go.
07:17Head's going to look up about that high, and it looks down that low.
07:21The coloring, though, for his neck is the one thing that isn't really quite matching everything else.
07:25Even though I really think that the colors overall look good on the figure,
07:28everything really is molded in green plastic.
07:31The one part that actually isn't molded in green plastic seems to be the neck.
07:34So I would be like a horrible reviewer, if not to point out the fact that
07:39his neck really isn't the same color as his face.
07:41But if you have his head low enough down anyways,
07:43so much of his chin kind of covers over it anyways.
07:46But it is one thing that the colors aren't really jiving there.
07:50The arms do rotate, yeah, all the way around.
07:52If you're familiar, though, with Mass of the Universe articulation,
07:54then, of course, you'll be familiar with whiplashes.
07:56A T-pose can successfully, successfully be pulled off.
08:00Of course, you can rotate the arms all the way around as well.
08:02Now, just a single hinge is all you're going to be getting, though, for the forearm.
08:05But the forearm hinge also allows the arm to do this all the way around.
08:09You don't really have to make the noise while you're doing it.
08:11The arms do, or the hands, do rotate all the way around.
08:13You can hinge them back and forth there, too.
08:15Standard levels of articulation only for the waist.
08:19Like split out, ball joints there, also behind the scenes.
08:22You take the legs, move them forward.
08:23Would you believe Jack? Don't call me Jack.
08:25You can also move them back as well.
08:27A little bit of swivel there at the top of the thigh.
08:29Single hinge for the knee.
08:30The single hinge also allows the lower leg to rotate.
08:33The individual boots, as being a force individual, do rotate on their own.
08:37The feet move up and down.
08:39There's some ankle pivot there as well.
08:41And the figures do also have toe articulation.
08:43Or, I should say, foot pegs on the bottoms of the feet that are also articulated.
08:47Not a bad-looking whiplash.
08:48I actually really like the look of this character.
08:50I mean, I kind of really feel like they kind of...
08:52They went cheap with his accessory in the standpoint that they give him a bazooka.
08:56I guess it really isn't all that bad because, again, like a bazooka you could be borrowing around.
09:00I mean, Trapjaw doesn't really have an option where he can hold it with both his hands.
09:04But, eh, why not?
09:04You could also give him the bazooka to hold in one hand.
09:07I don't really think, though, that Merman would really be the type that would be holding bazookas.
09:10But if he did, you could.
09:12Over on this side.
09:13Because, again, like the figure only has, well, one gripping hand.
09:16One last time again to bring back in the Origins whiplash.
09:19Just being careful not to knock all the other figures around him because, again, like his tail sticks out fairly long.
09:25Not, though, as long as the cartoon collection whiplash.
09:27His tail is just a tad bit longer.
09:29I think it's one of those things, too, that once you assemble it onto the back of the figure's torso,
09:33very unlikely, though, you're going to ever really remove it.
09:36But that's the whole thing.
09:36It kind of makes him whiplash in the first place.
09:38He's not lashing around with his tongue like tongue-lash or wood.
09:42Instead, though, all of his action feature is featured on the back of his body.
09:45I know she may have sabotaged Avion's defenses.
09:47But figure, though, I'd like to still see, speaking of Stratos, is Hawk.
09:51A female version, basically, of Stratos' kind.
09:53As a figure that certainly has appeared in that episode,
09:56they probably could really retool a body that we've gotten from maybe like the Tila, for example, and give us a Hawk.
10:02Going back, though, to whiplash, as you can see, the figure doesn't have the egg of Avion,
10:06which, the more I think about it, maybe it was too large of an accessory,
10:09considering, really, that a lot of the budget and the tool cost went into creating the tail.
10:13The tail really being that the thing that they ate up a lot when it came to the expense of creating the whiplash figure
10:19probably was the reason that resulted in him having a bazooka, than anything more elaborate.
10:24The look of whiplash does look like the way he does in the cartoon.
10:27I think, though, the colors of the green are a little bit more muted in the episode, but they're pretty close.
10:31What do you guys, though, think of whiplash?
10:33Let me know down below in the comments section.
10:34Do you like, also, the idea that this figure does have a bazooka,
10:37or you feel like an episode-specific accessory would have done the part better?
10:41If you guys also did enjoy this video, do it a solid and throw it a like.
10:45You guys still want to stick around for more so?
10:46I hope so.
10:47We're wrapping up things right now for Whiplash,
10:49but we're still sticking with the cartoon collection,
10:51as upcoming in this reviews, we're going to be looking at, also, Shadow Weaver.
10:55Yeah.
10:56If you guys also need a fix for Masters,
10:58popping up at the very end of this video will not only be the cartoon collection figures
11:01that I've looked at in the past,
11:02but also the Master Universe figures as a whole.
11:05As always, thanks for watching.
11:06See you guys next time.
11:11I'll see you next time.
