00:00Talk about luck! Of all the guys they can find to align, they find one that's already friends with a feline.
00:05Here's your look at the Mattel Master Universe Thundercats.
00:07He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
00:23The most powerful man on third Eternia finds kindred spirits among the heroic Thundercats.
00:29The He-Man's got to have one busy itinerary.
00:31Beat Skellera first, then buy a scratching post for the cats.
00:34Before the cats get brought in and scratch up everything around us,
00:37we're going to take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
00:40Right away, you can tell this is not using at all the same body as an Origins He-Man,
00:43in the sense that, first of all, it looks like he's missed leg day altogether,
00:47and he has the giant gorilla arms.
00:50We're going to be using these arms of mine to take the tape measure,
00:52and according to that, He-Man's going to stand at six inches in height,
00:56working out to be a figure that's 15 centimeters tall.
00:58No doubts at all that this He-Man hasn't missed leg day.
01:01Here's what the figure looks like with the Origins version.
01:04Now, again, there's some real proportional differences between the two bodies.
01:08The new He-Man's a lot leaner in the torso,
01:10and he also seems to have a much smaller head.
01:13Clearly, if you look at the head on the Origins He-Man,
01:15and then you look at the one that we get here from the Thundercats,
01:17some size differences have been changed.
01:19And, of course, there's also, here's what the figure looks like with the 2000X He-Man.
01:23Here's another mutation of a He-Man.
01:25This happened to be the one with the collaboration for the TMNT line.
01:28And, of course, if we are then going to be looking at He-Man as part of the Thundercats,
01:31let's bring in the rest of those Thundercats.
01:33Now, again, here's Lino.
01:34I know some may not like the look of Lino, especially in his face.
01:38Here's also what he looks like with Battle Cat Man.
01:40No chance at all of ever strapping a saddle on this guy.
01:44Get them all here to stand.
01:46There we go.
01:47Let's bring in Chitara.
01:49Chitara seems a little bit lopsided, doesn't she?
01:51Let's get that all straightened up as well.
01:54Let's also bring in Tigra.
01:57Now, actually, Tigra plays a significant role when it comes to merging the two swords together.
02:01We're going to talk also about that in a second.
02:02In the meantime, though, there's Panthro.
02:05Do we have enough space?
02:06Do we have enough space?
02:06I hope we have enough space.
02:07And here's also what they look like.
02:09No further, no longer Skellra, but the Mumra, the ever-living.
02:12Bringing up some of the space in this joint and cleaning up the clutter.
02:15The figure does also have a paper pamphlet that will be added to the pile of clutter.
02:19Here, the pamphlet on the one side does show basically what He-Man could look like as a
02:23master's, but then all in gray would be all the things that you could armor up He-Man
02:27with, which technically does come with the figure when you get him out of his plastic
02:31prison short of the headdress piece, which is right down there.
02:34This pamphlet will be discarded quickly.
02:36I think I've memorized enough of what's going on here to show you guys in this review.
02:41And while the other figures have kind of been moved to the side, this will be quickly
02:43dismissed and thrown into the recycling.
02:46Did I get it in?
02:47Of course I didn't get it in.
02:49What won't be going into the recycling is the figure does also come in clear with a
02:52mini-comic, the Power Swords of Omen.
02:55Actually, that's not true.
02:55The Power Sword of Omens.
02:58I moved the S in the wrong way.
03:00He-Man is on to the right.
03:01Of course, Lino is on to the left.
03:03And then, of course, you've got, respectively, the Sword of Omens and the Power Sword.
03:07I do like the look of this artwork quite a bit.
03:09On the back, advertised are two other figures we've already had a look at, Tigra and that
03:13being Panthro.
03:14He-Man really was the last figure I wanted to have a look at.
03:17Inside the pamphlet, though, inside the booklet, the booklet does show, though, a fallen Tigra.
03:23And one thing that's kind of really interesting, without kind of giving everything about the
03:26story away, is that right here, Skeletor does then claim the Power Sword and becomes
03:32Skeldra.
03:33However, though, Tigra is the one that's really responsible for pulling out of the
03:37grasp of Skeldra the Power Sword.
03:39And Lino is the one that actually merges the two swords together, giving us the Power
03:43Sword of Omens, which is a really cool-looking interpretation of the two blades together.
03:48Again, like, the artwork looks really quite good.
03:50I think all in all, the artwork has impressed me more for the Thundercats than it did do with
03:55the TMNT.
03:56We're going to move the comic off to the side, even though I really have two instances of
04:00this anyways.
04:01And let's have a look at the accessories.
04:03So I guess, first things first, why don't we look at the Power Sword of Omens.
04:06Really cool, again, interpretation of the two swords.
04:09You can really see how they are separate blades by their design.
04:13They haven't molded them together enough that they lose their individual identities.
04:18Again, you can kind of see, really respected down below, there's the, well, there's the
04:22Sword of Omens right around here.
04:24And then just above that is clearly the Power Sword.
04:26So I'm going to bring in the Sword of Omens that we already got with Lino.
04:30One couldn't help but notice that it is a little bit shorter, but because, again, it
04:33took a lot of its attributes from the Power Sword, it makes it, though, for a much shorter
04:37blade.
04:38If you look at the hilt, though, and you look at the guard, they seem to be of the same size.
04:43The only thing that's a little bit different is it does look like the eye is a little bit
04:48smaller.
04:49It could also just be the way it's been painted, but it does also look like, especially with
04:53the cat symbol, I do wish that the cat symbol looked a little bit more like the Sword of
04:58Omens, because it looks like it's too big for the space it occupies.
05:02All in all, though, it's a really cool-looking blade.
05:04Bringing some of the other examples here, here's the half sword, the power sword, which,
05:09again, is only a half and half.
05:10So Skeletor would have had the other half and then opened up and unlocked the Secrets
05:14of Castle Greyskull.
05:16Then we've got ourselves the full sword of the power sword, which, again, like the blade
05:20is a little bit smaller, but, again, it still does the job of really recreating what the
05:24blade should really look like.
05:26And for no other reason, just because I happen to have it nearby, the 2000X Sword of
05:30Omens, one of my least favorites.
05:32The thing that's cool about this, though, is that He-Man can wield the sword in either
05:36hand, or, like in most cases, on the back of his bandolier.
05:39He's actually got a little holster here, so you can slide down the sword on the back
05:44of his body, and he's got a place then to store it.
05:48The extra bandolier armor that he has also has the same, so if you do want to do away
05:52with this one, we'll be getting rid of this armor immediately.
05:55Well, not just immediately, but in a second we will.
05:59When I go to put this on, again, I'll put the sword on the back so you guys can see.
06:03The one other thing that also comes in clear with the figure, well, I guess several other
06:06things that come included with He-Man as well, is he gets this neat-looking shield.
06:11Now, again, you get a little bit of the MOTU reference.
06:13You get the fact that it does have kind of like the tusks down below there for the cats.
06:18Very cool-looking shield.
06:19Not really sure how much protecting it would do, because it's generally quite a small-looking
06:22shield.
06:23He also, by the way, he holds it.
06:25You have to clip it onto his hand like this, and it just clips around his forearm.
06:29So not only really can he hold it as a shield to protect his forearm, it's not really going
06:32to be protecting much of anything else, but then He-Man could also use it as a melee weapon.
06:38I don't know why he'd be making the noise while he's doing that, but yeah, he could be able
06:42to be stabbing people close in quarters.
06:45The figure does also come included, get that off for a second, with his headdress piece.
06:51Now, the headdress actually matches the same color as his armor, and it matches the same
06:56color as his shield.
06:57So they keep the colors consistent.
06:58It happens also to match the same color as the little front cat piece that's on the
07:02front of his chest.
07:03I like that as well.
07:04And when you actually put this onto He-Man's head, let's actually just draw the sword out
07:07for right now.
07:09When you put it down, you really feel like you're more inclined to want to put it further
07:13forward, and it doesn't really go that way.
07:16Instead, you actually keep it more like a headdress piece.
07:18So it sits on the top, well, maybe not that high, but it sits on the top of He-Man's head.
07:23I just dropped, where did I drop the headdress piece?
07:26I thought it was in the area.
07:27I thought it was in the area.
07:29Anyways, though, if you wanted to just take the headdress piece, don't have it too far
07:32up.
07:32But basically what it does is it covers over the front of He-Man's head.
07:36So it gives him a little bit of shadowing.
07:38Kind of works the same way as a ball cap.
07:40Now, I know I've seen other people where they have said that they would have really
07:44preferred this could have gone down a little bit.
07:46Technically, it can.
07:47I mean, if you don't want as much of the friction, you can drop this a little bit lower.
07:52And it stays well.
07:53I mean, you know, it survives that blizzard test of tipping the figure upside down.
07:58It can't go any further than that because after that, it doesn't sit any further on
08:02the ledge of his hair.
08:03But again, if you want to have it a little higher up, you can do that.
08:05So you can still see He-Man's pretty mug.
08:07Or again, you can just drop it down a little bit.
08:10It just...
08:11He-Man, from a realistic standpoint, is not going to be able to look out the eyes of the
08:14cats.
08:15That's all.
08:16But again, like if you want to kind of have him covering over the face, you can do that as
08:19well, I think I'd rather just have that headdress piece a little bit further up myself.
08:23I think it looks good.
08:24I think it does look good on the figure's face.
08:27Now again, like this He-Man, one thing very jarring about him is the proportions of his
08:30body.
08:31Not that He-Man is the benchmark, but I guess really is.
08:34I mean, this line is a master of the universe after all.
08:36So you would really want to look at a vintage He-Man or the closest thing to that, the origins
08:40figure, to really see like there are some differences to the bodies.
08:44The biggest one really being is the torso.
08:46Also, the torso is a lot more narrower, and you'll see when I take eventually this armor
08:51off.
08:52It's not as wide as the original He-Man, and also, one thing that even draws more attention
08:56to the fact, he's got a much smaller head.
08:59Look at the size of the original He-Man's head, and then look at the size of now what
09:03we get with the Thundercats He-Man.
09:05Now you would think that then everything else will be shrunk in size, so his legs, I guess,
09:09fit the proportions of that.
09:10But then he's got still these giant arms.
09:13These arms don't seem like they fit the right body of He-Man.
09:16I mean, even like if they had used these arms, the arms still would have looked way too
09:21big, like the bicep and the tricep.
09:23But I feel like they probably should have shrunk the arms down a little bit, because
09:26it makes He-Man's leg, or it makes his long arms, look too close to the lower legs.
09:31And even by that, when you start to compare the two, it looks like his legs are now short
09:35and squat, even though proportionally, they measure to the right size of his torso.
09:40So one thing I do actually, again, like is that He-Man's head is sculpted well.
09:44I mean, we seem to just be cursed with bad looking He-Man heads.
09:48This is definitely one of the better ones.
09:50This He-Man does also happen to have a sported braid on the back of his body as well.
09:54I like the blonde hair.
09:55I think the head looks really good.
09:56I mean, this would also be just a great looking He-Man to swap out and use with another
10:00He-Man body.
10:01But I mean, realistically, you could also do the exact same thing too.
10:04Take the armor off.
10:05The only thing that has to kind of stay behind is his loincloth, because if you look underneath
10:09the loincloth, all he really does have is just a plastic, like a plastic, I don't want
10:13to say like a crotch piece, but like a plastic crotch piece is basically all he really has.
10:17You're not changing the boots this time around like you would with the Thundercats.
10:20Those are going to still stay the same.
10:21So the only thing that you're really changing out for He-Man is the band on the side and
10:25then the armor piece on the front, which again, like the armor looks very much like
10:29the Thundaria, not Thundaria, the new Eternia set.
10:33But the Eternia set, of course, where you've got the lion head in the middle and you've
10:36got like Castle Grayskull over here, Snake Mountain over here.
10:40Yeah, it does certainly look like the Eternia set.
10:44The coloring is really good on that.
10:45I like that they've gone in there and painted the yellow eyes for the cat, because that
10:49certainly could have been something that they left off altogether.
10:52So like the armor is something that can be removed.
10:54Technically, also these bracers could be removed too.
10:57I do find like the bracers are loose.
10:59These bracelets seem looser than they really needed to be.
11:02But I guess as a customizer, you could easily use these bracers with something else.
11:06If we would want to swap out the armor, though, the only thing that you're really needing
11:09to change is just really the top torso piece, because you're going to change it to this.
11:13This on its own is just good, because you could really use this with another He-Man body.
11:18Before I actually put this onto this He-Man's body, let's put the figure down here for a
11:22second.
11:22Now I have this He-Man that we used for the comparison.
11:25I have a really fugly looking He-Man, which again, like look at the wonky way they painted
11:31his eyes.
11:32So we're going to kind of use this guy as the example here, and I'm going to keep this
11:35He-Man still in frame, because then you'd be able to see the differences between the
11:39two.
11:40So this He-Man already has a loose bandolier armor on the back of his body.
11:43Actually, there's actually several things loose on this He-Man.
11:46So we're just going to pop the head off.
11:49There we go.
11:50And we're going to also take off the armor.
11:52And we're just going to pop this torso off here too.
11:55There we go.
11:56And we're just going to remove it.
11:57So we're going to take the new armor.
11:59This isn't going to be its permanent home, by the way, but it's just more to show you
12:02guys that you can use this armor with another He-Man body.
12:05I want to make sure I've got this facing.
12:07Is it facing the right way?
12:08I hope it's facing the right way.
12:10There we go.
12:11No, no, I did have it the wrong way.
12:13Wouldn't you know it?
12:14I did have it the wrong way.
12:15So we'll flip it around, flip it around.
12:16That's what we're going to do.
12:17Flip it around to the other side.
12:19Get it around the torso.
12:21Snap the armor.
12:22Snap the lower torso in before we lose anything else.
12:25Snap that in place.
12:26There we go.
12:28Bring this up just a little bit.
12:30And then, of course, we're going to strap it off at the back.
12:33Now, there may be a little bit of friction forcing.
12:36And I also kind of wondered this too, and I haven't yet tried this, by the way that you
12:40can kind of see them struggling.
12:41I feel like you may even need to heat this up a bit.
12:45Because the frame is thinner on He-Man, I'm wondering though if you can maybe use this
12:49armor or if the armor is too tight.
12:52But, and it does seem to be the case, maybe it's too tight to fit on a He-Man's body.
12:58Yeah, I don't think it's going to, it's not going to fit without a little bit of heating.
13:02Anyways though, I'm going to just pop on the new He-Man or the original He-Man's head.
13:07And we're just going to get that on there.
13:09There we go.
13:11Let's put him next to the regular He-Man so you guys can see.
13:13Is there a good enough improvement?
13:16Keeping again in mind the fact that you can't use this now armor.
13:19Ah, that's a bit of a bummer.
13:21I do like the coloring on this one.
13:23It kind of gives me more of the filmation vibes of He-Man.
13:26But again, it is missing some of the little squares that he would have had on the top of
13:29his armor.
13:31Okay, so that's not going to work.
13:32So what we're going to do, we're going to defeat the plan of swapping this out.
13:37Because I thought to myself, I'm sure I could probably use this armor with something else
13:40if I don't have plans to use this He-Man with this body.
13:44Because I think with this, because again, he's a collaboration with another film, with
13:49another license, another cartoon license, I had real plans just to only display He-Man
13:53the way that you're looking at him right now.
13:55But to show you guys, at least in this review, we're going to pop the head off now.
13:59Now I know this one's going to fit because obviously it's designed for this He-Man body.
14:03This you're just going to attach on the back of his body.
14:06I guess we, do we have to take off the arms?
14:08I'm trying to remember here.
14:09I don't think we have to take off the arms.
14:11Maybe we do.
14:12No, no, we have to just take off the torso.
14:13That's right.
14:14Take off the torso, swing this around, and then we're just going to pop this off the
14:18top.
14:18Pop it off the top.
14:23There we go.
14:24Now one thing I did notice though, as you probably already saw for yourself, there was
14:28a little bit of glue that was left on mine.
14:31And the first time I took this off, I noticed the exact same thing happen.
14:34It's actually funny, taking it off even the second time, it seemed to pull, almost like
14:39it was heated there the second time.
14:41Yeah, you can see like the plastic was stuck to the torso, and as I took it off, it left
14:46behind residue.
14:48I didn't notice it the first time I did this, so I'm going to have to go in there and flake
14:52this off.
14:52I mean, even though really, this is only going to go back onto the He-Man's body anyways.
14:56And then you can also go ahead and take this off too.
15:00Now this basically will just slide over top of He-Man's arm.
15:03You don't even really have to remove the hands to do that.
15:06And then you're going to take yourself the armor.
15:08Make sure, of course, we've got it the right way going this time.
15:11Yeah, that's the one problem.
15:13With his torso being thinner like this, it's specifically designing then the bandolier where
15:18it has to go with this He-Man.
15:21And that's a shame because like the color looks really good.
15:23And I guess you could really also look at this thing and say to yourself, well, it's
15:27also using really the same coloring of armor as the cartoon collection.
15:31So really, if you did want to have the armor from that color scheme, really, you could
15:36just use the cartoon collection armor.
15:38And again, we'll just snap this back in place.
15:40Now again, you could take this off, but just show you underneath.
15:43There's nothing really under that.
15:45It's just kind of a molded crotch piece.
15:47So we're going to leave that back in place.
15:50Snap that back on.
15:52Here we go.
15:53Take He-Man, put his head back on.
15:55And I don't know, like I'm looking at He-Man here now with all his armor off.
16:00Well, the armor off on the top here just feels like he's off proportioned, doesn't he?
16:05Like he looks way too big in the arms, looks too lean, even though like he's very muscular
16:09in the torso.
16:10And for all realistic purposes, like he's very muscular down below in the legs too.
16:14But it's just really like the arms that are throwing everything off.
16:18Still, you take yourself the power sword, power sword of omens that can slide on the back
16:23of his body.
16:24And yeah, yeah, obviously you can still use the shield.
16:26We'll just put the shield back on his arms as well.
16:29I mean, it's a good serviceable amount of He-Man, but with the things that I've already
16:33now done to him, he feels like he really should then want to be like, if I just get him to
16:38stand here for a second, I feel like he's trying to then be this guy and he's not doing
16:42a good enough job of doing it.
16:44So for me, at least, I'm only going to just be displaying him back within the 30 turnian
16:49armor or the Thundercat armor is because it works a little bit better, especially
16:53with this design of He-Man.
16:54Now for the figure's articulation, let's go ahead and remove the shield.
16:58Take the sword off right now.
17:00For He-Man's articulation, his head's going to be on a bowl joint.
17:03Yeah, sure.
17:03It rotates all the way around and hinges down, it hinges up.
17:07But with the length of his hair, He-Man can't quite fully do a head down bend.
17:11It can look up, it can only look up just a bit.
17:15Yeah, then again, there's the head rocking back and forth.
17:17The head rotates all the way around.
17:19His arms do rotate all the way around as well.
17:21The one thing I did notice, though, is that the arms are really tight, the torso isn't.
17:25So as you rotate his arm, if you're holding it down below here, sometimes it pops the torso
17:29off.
17:30Arms hinge out comfortably at a T-pose.
17:32There's a swivel here at the forearm.
17:35There's a single hinge in the elbow.
17:37And the hands rotate all the way around.
17:39He-Man's waist is on your standard swivel.
17:41There's nothing really new there.
17:42His legs are on a ball joint.
17:43They split out this far.
17:45Now I guess you could also take this piece off too.
17:47Now that would involve you having to pop the legs off.
17:50I really wouldn't do that myself.
17:51But if you do want to kind of give closer to resembling a He-Man look, I suppose you could
17:56probably take this piece off too.
17:57But again, like I just feel like his legs are really narrow.
18:00Again, like he's got wide thighs, really large arms.
18:04It's a weird looking, weird looking He-Man.
18:06Legs go forward.
18:07They go back.
18:07They go out, obviously.
18:09There's a hinge only, a single hinge in the knee.
18:12Allows the lower leg to rotate.
18:14The boots do also rotate.
18:15So again, theoretically, you could swap these out with another Origins He-Man if you'd like.
18:18They hinge up and down.
18:20They rock back and forth.
18:21And He-Man does also have piggles on the bottoms of his feet.
18:25I think it's a He-Man that hides a lot of his imperfections by use of the armor that he comes
18:30out of the packaging with.
18:31I think the moment you start to swap the armor out for something in favor of a He-Man look,
18:35I think that's where he loses the look and he loses the appeal.
18:39And he loses, apparently, the ability to stand.
18:42Let's just get him to stand here.
18:43It's certainly not a He-Man for my personal collection that will ever try to resemble
18:48this guy.
18:49For me, there's never going to be one that's going to look as good as the Origins He-Man.
18:54I mean, again, even if you include armor like this to try to mimic this look, I think if
18:58you're going to be doing that, you're then, unfortunately, drawing more attention to some
19:02of the, I don't want to say the wrong things designed about this He-Man, but some of the
19:06things that become ever more apparent when you have them displayed, kind of stripped
19:10it down, even when you're looking at him compared to, like, Lion-O.
19:14There's something that worked for Lion-O, I feel like, even though, like, if you're
19:17looking at his arms and you're looking at his legs, they seem to be sharing very similar
19:20builds of body, and yet it worked okay for Lion-O.
19:23It doesn't seem to work as well with He-Man.
19:25I don't know what it really is about He-Man's arms that make them stand out a lot more than
19:30every other figure that we've looked at so far from the Thundercats line.
19:34I think this is a good-looking He-Man, but it comes with a but.
19:37The but really being, I think it's a good-looking He-Man providing you keep his Thundarian
19:40armor on, because the moment you remove his furry shoulder pads and you take attention
19:45away from his torso with the big cat symbol, I think now you draw more attention to the
19:49fact that he's got these really large arms.
19:51And I know it's something, again, I said a couple of times in this review, but it still
19:54continues to really be a problem with the He-Man.
19:57His head sculpt, I think, is fine.
19:58I think the way they've designed his armor looks good, too.
20:01But I think, really, when you start to look at the issues facing this figure is really the
20:05size and the proportions of his arm.
20:07It's the one thing you continue to keep going back to.
20:09I never went back to that same concern when I looked at, like, Lion-O.
20:13And I'm looking at Lion-O.
20:14I'm looking at He-Man.
20:15And it doesn't look like they've changed all that much when it comes to the design of
20:19the body.
20:19And yet, it becomes more apparent here on He-Man than it ever did before.
20:24I do like the armor.
20:25And again, like, this armor can't unfortunately be used with any other He-Man.
20:28So while, unfortunately, I had the chance to try to experiment it in this review, the experiment
20:32failed.
20:33Because the torso being narrow like this then dictates the size of the armor being
20:38too tight to try to fit it over top of any other Origins body.
20:43It's funny, though, that we always kind of talk about the pamphlet, the thing I always
20:46throw away.
20:47Because it's always the thing that tells you you can swap the parts out.
20:50It's funny, though, that nothing showed swappable except for the armor.
20:53And there's probably a reason for that.
20:55I like, though, the Power Sword of Omens.
20:56I think that's a really cool touch of amalgamating the two swords and blades together.
21:01You can still see that they have their own individual unique designs.
21:04So the Power Sword kind of represents the top half of the blade, while the Sword of Omens
21:08represents the hilt and the guard.
21:10It comes with a pretty cool-looking shield as well.
21:12Even though this is the way that we're wrapping up the review, I can tell you, though, this
21:15isn't going to be the way that I'm going to display the figure.
21:18I kind of really feel the opposite the way that I did with Lino.
21:21Lino, I felt he was just unnecessarily armored.
21:23Where I feel like He-Man right now isn't armored enough.
21:27What do you guys think of He-Man?
21:28Let me know down below in the comments section.
21:30Do you also feel like the proportions of his body overall just seem wrong?
21:34Or do you like the way that he's designed?
