03:32Welcome to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassan. Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago, and of course, across the globe.
03:53It's day 57 of the state of emergency, and it's also just about a week left before Carnival.
04:01So we're in that week of fests and partying and so on.
04:05And of course, over the weekend, the country registered its first triple murder for the year.
04:11Unfortunately, a brother and his sister were shot and killed, along with her common law husband.
04:19And a six-year-old boy was also shot and injured in that incident on Saturday night at La Retreat Extension, Guanapo in Arima.
04:31Separate and apart from that, there's also the incident where the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard continues its search for the missing sailor, able-bodied seaman, Kyron Simon.
04:45And certainly that search continues. There's been nothing new over the last 24 hours.
04:51And we're going to keep you up to date with that story as well from our media house.
04:56And today with us, of course, is Hunter's Search and Rescue team member, Captain Valence Rambarat. Welcome, sir. How are you?
05:04I'm fine. Thank you, Mark. A pleasant good afternoon to our viewers on Beyond the Tape.
05:10It's been a hectic weekend for us as well. We were out in the field Friday looking for America Harry.
05:17But I think the shocking news that came to us was that a young hunter died, age 28, Dylan Mirage from South Urupuch.
05:26He went to hunt with a couple of his friends. And unfortunately, he died from gunshot injuries.
05:33I know an investigation would be conducted. And I read where his mother is asking for answers.
05:39But in most of these things, Mark is normally accidentally shooting. Just have to interview people and get the correct answer.
05:49But again, it goes with hunting and using firearms. There are always incidents involved.
05:56Certainly. We talk also about carnival. Is it a time where you all see an uptick sometimes?
06:05Yeah, we see an uptick and today basically is the start of the reign of the merry monarch.
06:12And early this morning, we got a distress call from a mother in Labrie that her 13-year-old son who attends Brighton Anglican Primary School,
06:21a primary school boy, that he was missing. And he was found some 10 kilometers away in Otahiti Bay, South Urupuch.
06:32Convincing the fishermen, men and them there, that he wanted to go on the boat to go and fish with them.
06:38And the mother caught up with him, of course. Once we did put up his picture, we got information.
06:45And callers started to call in and say, we spot him here, there, there. And she eventually found him at that location.
06:52So it is the start of a problematic week for us, not week, week and a half, where you find a lot of young teens go missing.
07:01And the families have to end this or help. So it is a fact. And we've been reading lately about children,
07:10they are sent by their grandparents and that type of thing to be taken care of.
07:15And they have too much leeway and they go here, there and they get themselves into problems.
07:21So the public should know that children are very important and we ought to take proper care of them, especially during this carnival week.
07:31You talk about fishermen and fishing, of course, there is also the danger of, you know, a lot of people that don't go participate or partake in carnival,
07:40would go to the rivers or the beaches. And of course, there is also that danger of, you know, at least on the beachfront,
07:47those rip currents that you could get caught up in as well.
07:49Right. And so to the viewers, this is the time when rip currents are prevalent and hopefully later on in the program,
07:57we have a video to show you how to detect a rip current. A rip current is basically an onshore current that if you have a little bit of skills,
08:06you could get away from it. But rip currents are prevalent now right around the country.
08:13And we ask you to take note that if you're going to the beaches, please learn about rip currents.
08:21And if you're going to your rivers, be very, very careful. We saw on the weekend, a gentleman was found in a river in South Trinidad in the San Francisco area.
08:33I'm not too sure if it's a homicide, but it could be a drowning. So now is the time to pay particular attention as you go to the outdoors with respect to rivers and beaches.
08:44Certainly. All right. So just wanted to bring you back full scale to the triple murder that took place on Saturday night in La Retreat Extension,
08:55Buenapu, in Arima. It was the first triple murder to be recorded for the year and it pushed the country's murder count to 51 comparatively.
09:05At the same time last year, we had 71. Of course, bearing in mind we are in a state of emergency.
09:12And unfortunately, gunmen entered the homes of Ansel James and his sister, Anicia James.
09:23And they shot and killed both brother and sister, as well as Ms. James' common law husband, Matthew Francois.
09:34And as well as a six-year-old boy was also shot and injured in that entire episode, which has really left a, you know, really sad day in the country.
09:46As well, you know, that area has been in the past. A number of shootings are recorded last year. I recall there was actually a quadruple murder in the Heights of Guanapu area.
09:59And that was a sad thing for this country. And in this one, three could have easily been five because the six-year-old was shot at.
10:09He got injured, but there was also her 12-year-old daughter who was in the house. And she managed to escape being shot at.
10:18So, that area is a problematic area. Mark, we've conducted searches in that area, right?
10:24And I think they need to pay more attention to that area as the SOE.
10:30And I have no doubt that they will do everything that's possible to bring these perpetrators to justice because it is a heinous crime.
10:40I mean, to just wipe out three members of a family, just like that, having a fourth one injured.
10:46And to me, is really heinous. And justice has to be served in this case.
10:53Certainly. And of course, just hours after that incident, Acting DCP for Operations, Kate Simon, as well as DCP for Intelligence and Investigations, Suzette Martin, went to the location there.
11:10And I believe Mr. Simon would have spoken about this incident, saying that they would leave no stone unturned. Let's take a look.
11:23We are here at La Retraite Road, Arima, at the scene of a triple homicide, which took place last night around 10 p.m.
11:50And of course, it is with great sadness that we bring even this news to you, our general public.
11:57And we know of the concerns that our public have in the midst of this SOE, and we are still having these shootings and these murders.
12:07The Triantibego Police Service have come down on this area this morning in great numbers to show that we are not about to take these murders without reacting to them in a positive way.
12:21We have with us the Cyber Unit is involved, the Crime and Analysis Branch, they are involved in terms of giving us certain perspectives.
12:31And of course, the other investigative arms in the Northern Division.
12:35Three persons have lost their lives, and it is of great concern to us.
12:40And we are here to assure you all that we will leave no stone unturned in penetrating this investigation with the view of apprehending and detaining, arresting and charging the perpetrators.
12:57What we want to ask of you today is that if you see something, say something as we say.
13:01The TTPS will be relentless in its pursuit in dealing with this matter, and we thank you for any of your future engagements with us.
13:15Well, certainly the police have clearly expressed their intent.
13:19We have been hearing that a lot over the last couple of months, to be honest.
13:22I think the detection rate really needs to be increased.
13:29It is good to see both DCPs out there supporting their colleagues in the field.
13:36It was good to hear that various units are there.
13:40I know for sure the Air Support Unit was there as well.
13:44This is the type of response you need, and hopefully members of the public.
13:49Because Mark, let's face it, the public always knows what is going on with these shootings.
13:55And hopefully the members of the public can gain the confidence and trust of the police.
14:02Call 800-TIPS-999-555 if you have information, because we want to see the perpetrators of this heinous crime brought to justice.
14:11We need to have the police.
14:13Yes, certainly, and we are hopeful that persons out there with information will reach out to police or persons that they trust to pass this information on.
14:21Let's take a quick look now at our State of Emergency update.
14:26And, of course, number of operations, 3,048.
14:31Target of priority offenders, 2,343.
14:34Sieges conducted, 20,870.
14:37Traffic operations, 2,711.
14:40Total persons arrested, 2,244.
14:43Traffic offenses detected, 10,775.
14:46Firearms recovered, 107.
14:48Ammunition recovered, 2,708.
14:51Dangerous drugs seized thus far, 307,748 grams of cannabis and 2,017 grams of cocaine and 58 grams of ecstasy.
15:05Well, great thing.
15:07So here's an action plan, you know, what is set out to do and you're getting the results, right?
15:12So I'm seeing a lot of traffic offenses there, Mark, on these things.
15:16Definitely.
15:17Let's quickly take a look at our headlines.
15:21This is the headlines within the last 24 hours.
15:45We're going to take a short break and we'll be back. Stay with us.

19:25Mary has bills to pay.
19:27And takes a chance parking in front of the building at the no parking sign.
19:32Mary returns to her car.
19:34And this is what happens.
19:44Mary decides to call when she's five minutes away.
19:48To let her daughter know that she is close by.
19:51But Mary forgot one thing.
19:57I don't know.
19:58I really don't know.
19:59Well, I tell you.
20:00After two tickets.
20:02Mary just isn't paying attention to her speed.
20:07Don't be like Mary.
20:09Obey the laws of the road.
20:11A message from the T.T.P.S.
20:37Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
20:39I'm your host, Mark Bassant.
20:41Today with Captain Valens Rambarat of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
20:44And we're going to go through the missing figures.
20:47Yeah, for February, Mark.
20:49For February thus far we've had 26 reports of missing persons.
20:54And out of that 26, we have nine outstanding.
20:58The ones that we're looking at for February would be Shakir Gomez.
21:04And we have no definite leads on Shakir Gomez.
21:08And so we continue to liaise with the police and his relatives with respect to his disappearance.
21:15Then we have Jose Gregorio.
21:18The information we have is that he is safe.
21:22And that he has reason to be out of the public's eyesight.
21:26We have a contact number for him, but thus far he's not answering it.
21:32So we're not going to pay too much attention to Jose Gregorio.
21:37All I'll add is that a number of persons are interested in meeting with Jose Gregorio.
21:44But we leave that alone.
21:46And then we have Deborah Cornwall.
21:50This is a cool case that came up.
21:53And she's been missing since January 2024.
21:58And we have had no information except that she was renting in Barataria.
22:03And her landlady said, well, she just ups and left.
22:07And some of her stuff at the rental is missing.
22:11And the family is concerned about that.
22:14So we have to try to get it public, to zero in on Deborah Cornwall.
22:19And see, you know, when last you saw her and report that to us or to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
22:27Ryan Hasrana.
22:31Ryan was, I know he was a witness in a murder in Carrapo.
22:37And we have no leads on Ryan at this point in time.
22:42And they continue to work with the relatives to try to find him.
22:49Shanika McClatchy.
22:51Now, Shanika, we dealt with Shanika's older sister about a year ago.
22:57She went missing.
22:59Shanika McClatchy is now missing.
23:03And we know exactly where she is.
23:06So we want to ask the person who has Shanika McClatchy.
23:11To let you know that we know the exact house.
23:15We do have a photograph from the house with us.
23:19And we shared it with her father, Simeon McClatchy.
23:23And hopefully we can get the police to go to that, pay that house a visit.
23:28But be careful how you harbor in minors.
23:33It is a charge.
23:35So hopefully when I come next two weeks, given the break for Carnival.
23:41We can say that we found McClatchy.
23:43But we have a close bond with his family because we dealt with his sister previously.
23:48Ramon Campbell.
23:50We have no leads on Ramon Campbell.
23:52And due to have a conversation with the investigating officer after the program is finished.
23:58To see what new leads they could provide us with respect to locating Ramon Campbell.
24:06And then we have Maria James.
24:08Maria James, she is a runaway teen.
24:13This is her second time.
24:15And we are working with her mother to return her home.
24:20Alexandra Macano.
24:24A young Venezuelan migrant.
24:28She is missing.
24:29And we are working with a social worker, migrant social worker.
24:33To try to get Alexandra back home.
24:36And then of course we have Kieron Simon.
24:39Able Seaman Kieron Simon.
24:42And it is unfortunate you know that we cannot assist with this.
24:46In fact it was only revealed I think today or sometime yesterday.
24:51That the incident involving the Coast Guard and the vessel they intercepted.
24:58Occurred somewhere between Trinidad and Grenada.
25:01But our prayers are with his family.
25:03Because I hope that they are feeding the family information.
25:07Because details on the incidents are not too forthcoming.
25:11I don't know if you agree with me Mark.
25:13I don't know what you think.
25:15I would have written this story and I guess as you said that they were.
25:19The Coast Guard later sent out early speaking about they had intercepted a vessel.
25:25And a little intercept missable.
25:27And he and another sailor went on to the vessel.
25:31While it was taking water the persons were.
25:34The foreign nationals were removed and put on the other vessel.
25:38And apparently it went this way.
25:42Right.
25:43He was inside.
25:44He was inside.
25:45The other gentleman who was on top jumped into the water.
25:48And they retrieved him.
25:49I was just talking about I know there is a multinational operation.
25:53I would have liked to know all those who were involved in the operation.
25:57To see if they could find Abel, Seaman, Kieran, Simon.
26:02Well we are hopeful.
26:04As I said the area there that we understand is quite.
26:08Has a depth of some sort.
26:10Yeah, yeah.
26:11It will.
26:12Alright we are going to take a short break and we will be back.

30:07Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassan.
30:09Joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
30:13As we continue our 10th installment of Voice of the People,
30:18we spoke to persons in and around the Port of Superior and at the Leonard University of Woodford Square.
30:25Let's take a look.
30:37Music.
30:45Mr. Thomas, have you ever been a victim of crime in any way?
30:49Not really, no, no.
30:51Only thing, the last year, cars was passing around and shooting up the place and they shoot up my house.
30:58That's before Christmas, but rarely.
31:02Not in a rare situation, but I live in Belmont and there's plenty of crime and things going around.
31:09Plenty of crime.
31:11But I wish the crime could stop and the police and government can't do nothing for crime.
31:16Right?
31:17Citizens and young people who cause any crime have to do something about it.
31:25What are your thoughts on the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago in general?
31:30The crime scene is terrible, you know.
31:34Terrible, terrible, you know.
31:36I go to Trinidad.
31:38Son died with, you know, with a crime thing.
31:41He had a friend lying there and he stabbed him and he died.
31:45So I find a court if we can do something to stop the crime.
31:49That would be good for citizens in Trinidad because they can't go out as they want.
31:54Long time I used to go out, leave my place open and come back.
31:57Nobody going in it or anything.
32:00Now you can't do that.
32:01You have to lock up, you have to put burglar proof.
32:03People dying with the burglar proof.
32:05Yes, I have good friends.
32:06Couple in Gonzales, I used to go online with them every evening.
32:09From work I used to watch them alone.
32:11They died in fire.
32:12Couldn't find the keys for the burglar proof.
32:14Yes.
32:15So, you know, I go up there and I watch them burn up in the house.
32:19Crying for help.
32:21That's all of that.
32:23It's something else in this country.
32:25Do you feel safe at home or when you're conducting business, when you're lying in, when you're going out?
32:30Do you feel safe?
32:31I feel safe because, you know, I don't really take on nothing and nobody.
32:35Let me tell you the honest truth.
32:37I grew up in the old school.
32:39I ain't afraid to go nowhere or anything.
32:41When I go, I go in a safe place.
32:44I used to go online in a safe zone.
32:46So, I don't really frighten for myself or anything.
32:50But the children are already just frightened.
32:52Their parents are calling, where is he?
32:54Is he alright?
32:55You understand?
32:56Pity time and places where I have to go and things.
32:59So, you have changed your ways, you do things because of the crime situation?
33:03Yes, yes.
33:04Yes, a lot of times I tell them, you can leave the place open and go all about.
33:08They can't do that.
33:09And then I am mostly boy children I have.
33:11Yeah.
33:12Right?
33:13So, I frighten for them too when they're going out and things.
33:15Always praying for them.
33:16Go safe, come back home safe.
33:18You know, when they go out, I can't sleep at all.
33:20I have to wait.
33:21I can't hear.
33:22Stop getting up to see if it's them with you.
33:24So, all that too, you know.
33:26There's crime going on all over the place.
33:29Not here alone, all over the world.
33:31There's crime.
33:32Do you think there's a connection between crime and poverty in this country?
33:40I think so, yes.
33:41Yes, boy.
33:42Because I see them fellows doing that.
33:44As they're in the hand of work and things to go through there.
33:46Not to rob you and, you know, break in your place.
33:49Going to be taking up things with their water and all that.
33:52Yes, boy.
33:53Yes.
33:54Poverty is true.
33:55Crime, that's what's going on.
33:58How would you rate, in your opinion,
34:00the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
34:03in dealing with this crime situation?
34:05Well, they're trying their best.
34:06I can tell you that.
34:08They're trying their best.
34:09Our family is police.
34:12In-laws who is police, you know.
34:14In prisons, offices too.
34:16They're trying their best.
34:17They're trying their best.
34:19I can tell you that.
34:20Now, you mentioned that you live in Belmont.
34:23How long have you lived in Belmont?
34:24All your life?
34:25All my life.
34:26I went to school and grew up in Belmont.
34:28And what was life like before Belmont became a hotspot?
34:32It was nice.
34:33It was real nice.
34:34Real, real nice.
34:35People, friendly people.
34:36Neighbors, the children.
34:38You talk to them, they obey.
34:40And all this kind of thing was real, real nice.
34:42Now, God, can't help but talk to the younger people.
34:47What would be your message to those young prisons
34:50who are getting themselves aligned with gangsters and criminals?
34:54I tell them, God, put down the guns.
34:56Put down the guns of God.
34:57Turn to God.
34:59Your mother going to church or whoever, go with them.
35:02Not every Sunday.
35:03Go on Sunday once or twice.
35:05Go and ask God to forgive you if you do anything wrong.
35:08You know, stop the smoking, all them things.
35:12God, when you have a father figure, I feel it through that.
35:19Some good advice from an elderly lady there.
35:22Elderly lady, and I can identify with her.
35:25I am 60 years old.
35:26One of the problems, Mark, is that she has a gap problem like myself
35:32because we cannot wrap our minds around what's going on with the youth today.
35:37There's such a huge gap.
35:39We're trying to reach out to them just like she's making suggestions.
35:44But the youth today, those involved in gun violence,
35:49we can't seem to want to understand what's going on with them to reach out to them.
35:54I don't think it's poverty.
35:56What they seek is an easy way of life of trying to get money
36:00to support their habits of having drugs, guns, liquor in the sea and whatnot
36:10and having a good time.
36:12And so that is where we cannot seem to identify with what's going on with the youth.
36:17But she's absolutely correct.
36:19Belmont was a pristine area in Port of Spain.
36:23Belmont was a quiet community.
36:25Lately, I think towards the end of 2023, 2024,
36:31we are seeing gang activities in the Belmont area.
36:35And if you talk to Belmont folks, old as I am,
36:40they're shocked at what's going on.
36:42They cannot do anything about it.
36:44She's suggesting they turn to God,
36:46but I think we really have to study what's going on, research it,
36:51and see how we can reach out to these young men to turn around their lives
36:56and to move on to something else.
36:59Because you know we've discussed this.
37:02They're careless in their approach to crime.
37:05It seems as if they don't value their life, and their lives are worth nothing.
37:11Well, we're certainly hopeful that these ideas, these suggestions,
37:16and this advice that the public is giving to these youngsters,
37:19that they will take heed of it.
37:21All right, we're going to take a short break, and we'll be back.

40:30Welcome to Beyond the Tape.
40:31I'm your host, Marc Bessant,
40:33back with Captain Valens Rambrath
40:35of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
40:37I think we have a call on the line.
40:38Caller, good evening.
40:40Hi, good evening, Mr. Bessant.
40:42And also, good evening to Mr. Rambrath.
40:46You and your show really maintain attention.
40:50But a general statement,
40:52a lot of what we see on the show and on the news
40:56is kind of, you know,
40:58but I think for the most part, we only see the tail end,
41:01which is the incident.
41:03But I don't think there's enough focus on the initial stages,
41:09you know.
41:11Legitimate comment, I guess,
41:13whether it's the politicians,
41:15that literature, citizens and authority,
41:18other citizens who might be contributing to crime
41:22being a reality.
41:24I think that might need a little more focus.
41:26Thanks for your time.
41:29Yeah, Marc, I was alluding to that
41:32in the Voice of the People segment
41:34when I said we need to do the research.
41:36So we need to know what we're doing
41:39and where are the gaps,
41:40why are we not reaching to these young people
41:43and try and fill those gaps.
41:45Because somewhere along the line,
41:47we know that in behavioral change,
41:51we know that behavioral change can occur with anyone
41:54or any group of persons.
41:56It's just how the research is done,
41:59put the resources where there are gaps,
42:01and let's try to see how we can reach the young people.
42:04Social programs, sports, all these different things
42:07can help to bridge that gap, of course,
42:09and you have to do the proper research.
42:11I know we were talking earlier about rip currents,
42:15so we want to take a look at a video
42:16and then you'll talk us through.
42:18Sure.
42:19Let's learn about rip currents.
42:21So to our followers and viewers,
42:24we want to be able to show you what is a rip current.
42:29So notice that you have those white-top waves coming in there,
42:34and as you move the camera from right to left,
42:38you're going to begin to see a break in the waves.
42:42Look at the left here, you'll see you have the white-top waves,
42:46and this center here, I'll just pull up a little bit,
42:50that is where you have the rip current.
42:52The wave in the back far back is trying to come in,
42:56but this water that is receding, it's pushing it back,
43:00and so you have what is called a channel being created
43:04by the water going back out,
43:07and so that is the rip current.
43:13Interesting.
43:14Right.
43:15So I did that video because there is a particular place in Miaro
43:20that's very dangerous during carnival time.
43:23It's called Indian Bay in Miaro,
43:24and I went there just prior to carnival last year or so
43:29to do a video to show viewers what is a rip current.
43:33A rip current is an almost onshore current.
43:37It occurs about three to four feet in the water,
43:41so even if you're bathing in water one foot high,
43:45you will be in the rip current.
43:47So what you look at is the white tops of the waves coming in,
43:52and any time you see a break in those white tops of space
43:56and you're seeing that that white top that was once unified
44:01being left behind, you could bet your bottom dollar
44:04that that is a riptide current,
44:07simply because if you throw a basin of water upon a sand,
44:12it will create a channel where the majority of water
44:15will come in down into one area,
44:17and that's what a rip current is about.
44:20It will take you not too far offshore,
44:23probably about 100, 150 feet,
44:26and the way to mitigate a rip current is to go with the flow out,
44:31and eventually it will push you to the side.
44:34It's not a long current,
44:36and you could maneuver safely back to land.
44:40What people tend to do is to begin to struggle in the rip current.
44:43They panic, and then they drown in the rip current.
44:48Many, many years ago, you had seven persons drowning
44:52at the same beach here in the Abbey of Mearrow
44:56on a carnival Monday.
44:58A doctor died trying to rescue some of those persons,
45:02and it's really we must pay attention to the rip currents.
45:05They're prevalent around this time, Mark,
45:08and there are different types of current,
45:10but the rip current is the popular one now
45:14between carnival and Easter.
45:17All right. Thanks for that explanation.
45:19Of course, we have dangers out at sea,
45:24and we also have dangers on land.
45:26We had a couple of road traffic accidents.
45:28We've been talking about having to exercise caution on the roadways,
45:33and we had an incident here.
45:35We're not sure of the location involving a bus and another vehicle,
45:41a car, it looks like.
45:43A head-on collision, it looks like, even,
45:46where persons might have been injured,
45:48and, of course, the car would have suffered the brunt of the destruction there.
45:53I mean, you look at it, the whole front has met half the car.
45:58Yeah. Mark, I've been pointing out on this program
46:02that some of these, most of these accidents involve vans and trucks,
46:06and now we have buses,
46:08but it is not always good to blame the drivers of these heavy vehicles.
46:12As a driver, I pay particular attention when a truck is oncoming
46:18because you know they're carrying heavy loads,
46:20and most of these trucks and long vehicles have a sign to the back saying,
46:25keep a certain distance behind.
46:27So I think when we are approaching these vehicles,
46:30we must exercise caution.
46:32I'm not blaming, I'm not saying who is right or wrong,
46:35but we have to give them space, their space.
46:38That's what appears in the wrong ways.
46:40You're heading east.
46:41Yes.
46:42Or is it chaguanas?
46:45Heading east.
46:47Yeah.
46:48But again, I mean, it's a spill, and we're getting a lot of vehicles on this side.
46:52Yeah, you're seeing a lot of vehicles being, you know,
46:54when they're getting, they're overturned on their side or on their hood.
46:58There was also another accident when we left here on Wrightson Road
47:02on Friday afternoon where a vehicle of similar nature, what I mean,
47:06was lying on its side near the Inland Revenue heading in an easterly direction
47:12on that lane there.
47:13Right.
47:14So we ask people to obey the speed limits.
47:16There's a reason for the speed limits.
47:19The highway doesn't mean to say you have to drive at excessive speeds.
47:23You put your life in danger as well as the other person's lives in danger.
47:29So you have to obey the speed limit.
47:31I think my producer was telling me there was another video, I believe.
47:38Yes.
47:39So basically this guy here was held after allegedly a robbery.
47:49He was the assailant, and not a few minutes later he was arrested by the police.
47:58So you would have seen the imagery of him assaulting the perpetrator,
48:04perhaps robbing him.
48:05And then, of course, the end result is?
48:08That he was locked up.
48:11Right.
48:12Yeah.
48:13But is this the same guy who had jumped onto the maxi-taxi and that type of thing
48:18in Karanaj? I'm not sure.
48:20No, no, no. It's not the same guy. This is something different.
48:22I mean, that's a different.
48:25The CCC TV camera would have captured the incident.
48:29A freeze frame, and of course it was viral.
48:33And then within minutes the police was able to apprehend him.
48:37And as I said, you know, crime doesn't do it in the same sense.
48:40Those are the guys we have to try to get into their heads and see what's going on with them.
48:44Because as I said, I mean, I'm a school teacher, principal, school supervisor, retired.
48:50And how we deal with them is an issue.
48:53All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be back. Stay with us.

51:42Because we all know,
51:44the best carnival is a safe carnival.
51:57Welcome back to Beyond the Chief.
51:59I'm your host, Mark Bussan.
52:01Joined today by Captain Valens Rambratt of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
52:04And he was taking us through some video in reference to Marika Harry.
52:08Yeah. Mark, we're not leaving Marika Harry's case at all.
52:12We're not going to give up on this one.
52:14We're working exclusively with law enforcement to try to find her.
52:18Sometime on Thursday,
52:20an informant would have called us about a particular foul scent
52:25in an area.
52:27And this is our teammates trying to check a garbage bag in a river.
52:34Where is this? Is this in Pinal?
52:36This is in the Pinal District.
52:38And you would see one member with a rope.
52:40Sometimes to descend to these rivers, you need ropes.
52:43And there it is, using his cutlass to carefully open that big garbage bag.
52:50Yes.
52:51Unusually large garbage bag in a river there.
52:54And what he would have come across, there's three dead dogs in one bag.
52:59Wow.
53:00A full stench.
53:01And we were not able to get there.
53:05We did move on to different areas.
53:08And we did interview some persons.
53:11We spent the entire day Friday.
53:14Friday was day 55 of us.
53:17Mark, we've spent 10 complete search days out of those 58 days.
53:22I know her mother has been appealing to anyone with information.
53:24Of course, we know that infamous guy called Antz.
53:28We intend to find her.
53:29But we intend to find Marika Harry.
53:31And we're working on this case.
53:33Her mother is extremely poor.
53:36She has a mother of seven children.
53:39In fact, we gave up our lunches to her so she could feed her children last Friday.
53:44But we will stick to this case.
53:46And hopefully we can achieve closure for Marika Harry's mother.
53:50And speaking of animals, on a big note, I know that you all would have encountered a slithery one recently.
53:58Yes.
53:59So, right in the heart of San Fernando, Philippine area,
54:02we got a distress call from a lady who said she was watching out her window in her backyard.
54:07And she saw this large snake.
54:09And here is rocky scene.
54:11Look how cool.
54:12This is an expert snake handler on our team, right?
54:16And he uses just a normal crook stick.
54:19And watch at the length of this animal.
54:22It's a red-tailed boar constrictor, non-venomous animal.
54:27Watch how he handles it with perfection.
54:31Making sure he gathers the coil.
54:34Watch at the size of this snake.
54:37And if you look on further, you will see he is asking the person who is filming him to bring the crook stick for him.
54:44And as he turns around, you will see how he just simply throws it on his back.
54:48Yes.
54:49Calmly, coolly, he collects his crook stick from Christian Rambarat, who is with him.
54:55And look how easy.
54:58Look how nothing but as rocky when he is handling wildlife.
55:01Absolutely nothing.
55:03Look at the size of that animal.
55:06And they went to the Moruga Forest, Castle Forest, and released it.
55:10So that was a nice rescue over the weekend as well.
55:14We are pretty busy every day.
55:16The snake probably had a meal and was relaxing after a meal.
55:21Because we know when they eat, they don't need to eat for quite a while again.
55:25You know, a couple of weeks.
55:26Yes.
55:27But we were shocked to get it in that meal.
55:29Alright.
55:31So, remember, we will be tonight at 11.30.
55:34We run tomorrow at 11 o'clock.
55:37The TV6 News is up next.
55:39Stay with us.
