00:00Previously on Project Runway All Stars.
00:03Welcome to Marquesa.
00:05We're working with a client who's here
00:07for a final fitting for her wedding dress.
00:09Your challenge is to design a bridesmaid's dress.
00:12Why did I pick this bitch organza?
00:15You never construct with this fabric.
00:17He just set himself for the disaster.
00:22This is my favorite dress.
00:24I love the fact that you can alter the drapery.
00:26It's really flattering.
00:28You want your bridesmaids to feel as gorgeous as possible.
00:31I commend you for being so tasteful.
00:33And the winning designer is...
00:35Helen.
00:36Yes, Georgina.
00:37Michelle, why isn't that dress like five inches shorter?
00:41Have you worked with satin-faced organza before?
00:43I have. It's so bitchy.
00:45Then you should know better, Fabio.
00:47The designer eliminated tonight is...
00:50Fabio.
00:53This is Project Runway All Stars.
00:58Beautiful.
01:03Good morning, designers.
01:06Good morning.
01:07Just four of you remain.
01:09You are so close to the final challenge.
01:11How does it feel?
01:12Weird, surreal.
01:13Weird?
01:14Strange.
01:15There is nothing else I want more at this point
01:18than win this competition.
01:19We have come to a critical stage in the competition.
01:22This is the week that decides who makes it to the Project Runway All Stars finale.
01:28There's a 25% chance right now that I'm going to win this thing.
01:31It's definitely exciting.
01:32So our challenge is suitably dramatic.
01:36Take a look at this.
01:37Hi, Project Runway All Stars.
01:40My name is Kelly Garner, and I am playing Marilyn Monroe in Lifetime's upcoming mini-series,
01:47The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe.
01:49Marilyn was one of Hollywood's first and most glamorous screen icons.
01:54Helen, Sanji, Dimitri, and Michelle.
01:58Well, your challenge is to design an outfit that looks like a million dollars, but unfortunately
02:05your budget will be a little bit less.
02:07To tell you more, it's back to you, Alyssa.
02:09Bye.
02:12So, Marilyn Monroe has inspired this week's challenge.
02:17To prove you're worthy of a place in the finale, we want you to create a dazzling red carpet gown,
02:25suitable for the Oscars, that just like Marilyn, will be remembered for years to come.
02:30We want a timeless look that sparkles and shines like the brightest Hollywood star.
02:35And as this week is so important, we're giving you your biggest budget of the season, $500 each.
02:42But you have just one day in the workroom to create your gowns.
02:47And one more thing, there's a job up for grabs for this week's winner.
02:51Lifetime is offering you the chance to design wardrobe for a leading character in an original Lifetime movie event.
02:58So, I will see you back here on the runway tomorrow for your dazzling red carpet gowns.
03:04Good luck.
03:10Ooh.
03:11They rolled out the red carpet.
03:12A red carpet.
03:13I wonder if they're going to stick one on the runway.
03:15A red carpet gown has to be dramatic and it has to sparkle and have this movement.
03:25So, I'm using a lot of fringe to design a beautiful 1920s inspired flapper dress, but kind of a modern version of it.
03:34The judges know that I've made red carpet dresses before, so their expectations are probably really high.
03:40For this challenge, my silhouette is a high collar, a long cap sleeve.
03:47And since Marilyn Monroe is the inspiration, I keep thinking like, oh, that's a babe dress.
03:52She's going to be a babe.
03:53I really am going to put my all into this look.
03:56I know I want a straight pencil-y skirt with a bow that's in your face.
04:01I'm so glamorous.
04:03Don't look at me, but look at me.
04:05Can you see me?
04:06Only a little bit.
04:07I'm sketching a long sleeve, body conscious gown.
04:12Super old Hollywood.
04:14But how I'm making it modern is the really plunging low back line.
04:18And I think that's where it's going from kind of the old glamour to new glamour.
04:22Like, what your dress ends up looking like really depends on what fabric you get.
04:26Do you have any ideas for your fabrics?
04:28I do, but I don't want to tell you because I don't want you guys stealing my idea.
04:31I'm keeping mum about it, so I want to get to Mood and get them before anybody else finds them.
04:35Let's go to Mood and get some sparkles.
04:41Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
04:4330 minutes, 30 minutes.
04:45I want to have this moody romance happening.
04:48So I get a burnout velvet that has lurex, a sparkly kind of tinsel.
04:53So I spend all of my budget on this fabric, but I think it's just going to be really special.
04:58Guys, we've got five minutes!
05:01Okay, we should probably start cutting, I feel like.
05:04Well, the arts of this. Thank you.
05:06Expensive.
05:08Thank you so much.
05:10Red carpet, here we come.
05:11Okay.
05:12Thank you, Mood!
05:14I'm going to tea dye my French.
05:26Are you?
05:27Yeah, because it's so white.
05:29Is it going to dry in time?
05:31Oh boy.
05:32I need to match this to this.
05:35I just hope that dyeing will work otherwise.
05:37Well, I don't know why you're sitting here talking to me, Chatty Cathy.
05:40You should probably get to dyeing.
05:41Yep.
05:44Oh boy.
05:45Hi, designers.
05:46What? Huh?
05:47Come talk to me.
05:48So, I know that this is a really big week for you all.
05:51So I have a little something to break the tension.
05:54What is he doing here?
05:56Please don't let there be a twist.
05:58Ain't nobody got time for that.
06:00Now, Marilyn Monroe was such a big Hollywood icon.
06:03Well, I have another icon.
06:06She's been saving the day in Hollywood for 75 years.
06:10Okay, who is she?
06:11My God, she's old.
06:13Betty White?
06:14Who's been alive for 70 years?
06:16It's been an icon.
06:17You ready to meet her?
06:18Yes.
06:19Oh my goodness.
06:20Come on out.
06:28Now, Marilyn Monroe was such a big Hollywood icon.
06:31Well, I have another icon.
06:33You ready to meet her?
06:34Yes.
06:35Come on out.
06:40Lassie?
06:43Lassie, come up here.
06:44Wow, she's so pretty.
06:45Yeah.
06:46Gorgeous.
06:47This is Michael Francis from DreamWorks.
06:49Hi.
06:50And of course, the one and only Lassie.
06:52Wow.
06:53You're the little Lassie?
06:54All I got is Lassie.
06:56Like, who?
06:57Lassie's thrilled to be here today.
06:59She is one of Hollywood's most enduring stars.
07:02Really celebrating the hero in every dog.
07:04I'm sure to you this looks like a little bit of fun,
07:06but I designed a collection of clothes and toys, et cetera,
07:10for dogs.
07:11So I thought, let's have some time out from your actual challenge
07:14and have a mini challenge.
07:16Oh no.
07:17No.
07:18You're all going to need to design a piece of canine couture.
07:21Yeah.
07:22And you're all going to get a different dog to work with.
07:25Oh, how sweet.
07:26So sweet.
07:27Lassie is the ambassador for Best Friend Animal Society.
07:31So Best Friends has brought along today four rescue dogs.
07:36They'll get a chance to bond with each of you as you complete
07:39this challenge.
07:40So each of you is going to get a special doggy bag.
07:43Inside, there's going to be fabric, toys, treats,
07:47and most importantly, a movie genre.
07:50We're going to ask you to design a movie-inspired garment
07:53for your dog.
07:54So let's find out who's getting which dog and which genre.
07:57Lassie.
08:04Oh.
08:05Oh.
08:06Helen.
08:07Get scrappy.
08:09What'd you get?
08:10Sci-fi.
08:11Michelle.
08:12Get Taz.
08:13Tazmanium devil it is.
08:15I got Western.
08:16Well, that's fun.
08:18Good girl.
08:19Cha-cha.
08:20Cha-cha.
08:21So fitting.
08:23Musical comedy.
08:24Musical comedy.
08:25Oh, yeah.
08:26Oh, yeah.
08:27Dimitri, this is obviously for you.
08:30Dollar.
08:31Oh, dollar.
08:32Dollar.
08:33Gangster.
08:34Gangster.
08:35I like that.
08:36All right, designers.
08:38You have till Lassie returns to the workroom to make your outfit.
08:42And Lassie has a prize.
08:44That's right.
08:45The winning designer for today's challenge will be the guest designer for Lassie's couture
08:49canine collection, which will be debuting next year.
08:51Oh, Lassie.
08:52This is a huge market.
08:54People dress their dogs all the time.
08:56I'm excited to win any challenge, but this is kind of a big deal.
08:59Each of you will walk the red carpet with your dog.
09:02Oh, my gosh.
09:04And Lassie, Michael, and I will judge.
09:07Oh, my.
09:08Okay.
09:09Your clients are ready to meet you.
09:11Oh, hey.
09:13Can you go?
09:14Oh, my goodness.
09:16Hi, Dollar.
09:17You're the cutest.
09:19Hey, baby.
09:20Look at your beardie.
09:22They're so cute.
09:23I like your eyes.
09:24They go in different directions.
09:26Can we just hang out?
09:27I know.
09:28Really?
09:29Unfortunately, I'm allergic to dogs, but I'm more allergic to losing.
09:38Oh, my gosh.
09:39Already, you're looking Western.
09:41Boom.
09:42Rocket ship.
09:43I hate it, too.
09:44I'm sorry.
09:45Cha-Cha looks amazing.
09:46Cha-Cha's like, I don't know.
09:51Time's up.
09:52Time to go to the runway.
09:54Come on, Scrappy.
09:59This is Scrappy.
10:00He's a rocket ship.
10:01The best-looking rocket ship in town.
10:07Dollar, please.
10:08Let's go.
10:09This is a dollar.
10:11He has his gunster rope.
10:13The construction is very complicated.
10:15It has a beautiful color.
10:17Come on, Taz.
10:18Oh, I know.
10:19That's Pete.
10:20No, no, no.
10:21Don't do anything on top of it.
10:22Okay.
10:23This is Taz.
10:24He's an oil tycoon.
10:26He's got his dungarees on and a dollar bill in his pocket.
10:29Oh, that's funny.
10:34Sanjee is walking.
10:35She's living.
10:36Living.
10:37This is Cha-Cha.
10:38She performs every Thursday and Friday in the Boom Boom Room.
10:43And go.
10:44Let's go.
10:48Designers, that was a great runway.
10:52So fun.
10:53And I think we're going to let Lassie make the actual decision about who wins.
10:57Come on, Lassie.
10:58I haven't won anything yet.
10:59I know you can probably smell the desperation coming off of me.
11:02Lassie will help pick the winner with two barks for yes and one bark for no.
11:06Is Dimitri the winner?
11:10Is Sanjee the winner?
11:13Is Helen the winner?
11:17And is Michelle the winner of the challenge?
11:20Yes!
11:21Congratulations.
11:22Michelle, you're Lassie's new creative director.
11:25Wow, that's amazing.
11:26That's really exciting.
11:27I'm definitely a dog girl.
11:29So this is a pretty charming challenge to win.
11:31Thank you, Lassie.
11:32Thank you, Michael.
11:33Designers, you did an amazing job.
11:35And I'll see you tomorrow on the runway.
11:37Okay.
11:47Wow.
11:48That is fantastic.
11:49Hi, designers.
11:50Hi.
11:51Hello.
11:52I'm so happy to see the four of you in here.
11:54We all know there's only three places left in the final though.
11:57So I'm here today to really help you make the best iconic, timeless, red carpet Oscar
12:04gown we have ever seen on the runway.
12:07Michelle, I'm going to start with you.
12:08Hi.
12:09I'm walking the red carpet up to you here.
12:11Oh, you look like you should be in that dress.
12:13Ah, flattery will get you everywhere.
12:15Tell me how are you doing?
12:17I'm doing pretty well.
12:18I've got a pretty glitzy, sparkly, burnt out velvet with lurex as well as some added drama
12:25with a very low, sexy, revealing back detail.
12:30And this chain at the back, it's a little bit cheap looking.
12:35And this gown is definitely not cheap looking.
12:37I think you've made the money go a long way.
12:39So don't bring the whole thing down by just having something that's so simplistic and kind
12:44of commonplace.
12:45Agreed, agreed.
12:46This lace and fringe was so white so I dyed it this morning in tea.
12:52So clever.
12:53Gives kind of an antique look.
12:56Yeah, it gives you an antique feel.
12:57Yeah.
12:58It looked like a dirty mop.
12:59Like, oh, the janitor just came by and mopped up some vomit in the hallway.
13:02I really wanted to do this knot thing.
13:04I thought it would give it a lot of drama and make the woman stand out on the red carpet.
13:08I do like this a lot.
13:09Yeah?
13:10I think it's modern but something that would also stand the test of time and that's what
13:14this is about.
13:15Think about your construction with it.
13:17It's going to have to be finessed perfectly.
13:19Perfectly.
13:20Yeah.
13:21Quite honestly, it's going to be a really tough call to get rid of any of you at this point.
13:24You design red carpet gowns.
13:25Yes, I do.
13:26This is your wheelhouse.
13:27What's more timeless than a beaded lace gown?
13:30I feel like I could look back 50 years and I always, always, always see style icon
13:35in a dress that's in this type of fabric.
13:37This to me feels more Victorian than it does modern.
13:42And this whole piece feels a bit old fashioned.
13:47I think it's beautiful but I could see it in a museum.
13:50Now there are like three hours left in the day so I'm in a bit of a panic.
14:00Okay designers, I can see these dresses going to the Oscars but they are supposed to be timeless and iconic.
14:13I need to remember these dresses in years to come.
14:16These are maybe somewhat forgettable.
14:19I know.
14:20I'm being tough but this is for the final.
14:23There's four of you left and only three of you are going through.
14:26Good luck.
14:31I decide that I'm going to scrap my entire bodice and just make a really sweet and sexy,
14:35just like camisole top with spaghetti straps and a really sexy neckline and boom.
14:40It's super modern looking.
14:42We need like 10 more hours.
14:46This is insane.
14:47Hi.
14:48Hi.
14:49Hi.
14:50How are you?
14:51How are you?
14:52I'm really sorry if you get pinched.
14:57We're going to put a lot of crystal on it if I have time.
15:00It's going to be kind of pretty when it's finished.
15:03If I don't, you're just going to work the frame and sparkle with your eyes.
15:09How about that?
15:10Bye.
15:11We'll see you tomorrow.
15:12Bye.
15:13We're going to do great.
15:14We have an hour.
15:15My zipper just broke on me.
15:29Again?
15:30Yerp.
15:31Why do your zippers break on you?
15:32I don't know.
15:33I feel like I've been nothing but a good friend to the invisible zipper but I don't know what
15:39happened in our relationship but apparently it's not feeling me because at the end of the
15:44day it completely just broke on me.
15:46Time's up guys.
15:47Let's go.
15:48It's just annoying because it now takes another 10-15 minutes out of tomorrow morning that I
15:54already don't have enough time to finish for.
16:07I got so much stuff to do!
16:09Morning on the runway, I have a long list of things to do.
16:12I have to put the zipper in again, finish the skirt, have it, attach it to the top.
16:17Should have that ready too.
16:18I have to make sure that everything's iron, pressed.
16:20As long as I really stay focused, I should be in a good place.
16:24She gonna shine.
16:25Hi.
16:26How are you?
16:27Morning.
16:28I just want to make sure it won't be too small.
16:30I just want to do like some reinforcement by hand.
16:32I'm a little worried because I just draped the bodice and never fit it on her.
16:37It's attached, so here's to hoping it fits on her body.
16:41Let's throw this on and make sure it fits you in the tush.
16:43Marilyn Monroe just oozed sexuality and I think that that's what I'm putting into this dress.
16:48I'm gonna show quite a bit of skin.
16:50It might be a risk, but I actually think it's gonna be pretty dazzling.
16:53All right.
16:54I'm gonna just unzip you and get you out.
16:56Let's get it finished.
17:01Welcome to the Chi Hair Care Salon.
17:03So red carpet, timeless.
17:05All back?
17:06Yes.
17:07Hot rollers and we'll roll them back.
17:08Easy way of film.
17:09Sexy.
17:10I was thinking to go effortless.
17:12Everything kind of back, a little bit of a pompadour.
17:15Just make it shiny.
17:16Yes, just a little.
17:17Okay.
17:18I tell the Mary Kay Keller Design Studio that I want a really dark eye.
17:25The Midnight Jewel Collection in Sapphire Noir.
17:28And then just a nice dark, dark brow so you really just zoom right into her eyes.
17:32We gotta do a red lip.
17:33We gotta do a red lip.
17:34My new favorite is Ruby Knight.
17:36All the men want her and all the women want a beer.
17:38Exactly.
17:39It's very thick.
17:40Let's see how I'm going in here.
17:42I'm right side.
17:46I'm really excited.
17:47From the QVC accessory wall I grab diamond studs and a diamond ring.
17:50That one's kind of prettier.
17:51What's more red carpet than diamonds?
17:53Sparkle!
17:54Sparkle.
17:55There's something about this that's really sexy to me.
17:58I want to accent this dress a little bit
18:00and kind of show off her waist.
18:03And so I put just one chain.
18:05I kind of like that.
18:06I wish I had one with some diamonds on it,
18:08but I'm going with what I have.
18:10Time's up.
18:11Let's hit the runway, guys.
18:20Oh.
18:22Hi.
18:23Hi.
18:25Hey, All Stars.
18:26Hi.
18:28This week we took Marilyn Monroe as inspiration
18:31for a dazzling red carpet gown suitable for the Oscars.
18:35And Isaac also introduced you to another Hollywood icon
18:39in the form of Lassie for a mini challenge in the workroom.
18:42How did that go?
18:43Anybody go home with a dog?
18:45I wish.
18:46Who won that challenge?
18:48Congratulations.
18:50So let's meet tonight's judges.
18:52First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa,
18:55Georgina Chapman.
18:56Hi, designers.
18:57Hi.
18:58Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
19:03Nice.
19:04Hi, kids.
19:05Our guest judge turned selling old clothes on eBay into one of America's fastest growing
19:12online retailers.
19:13She's the best-selling author of Girlboss and founder and CEO of the fashion brand NastyGal.com.
19:21Please welcome Sophia Amoruso.
19:23Hi.
19:25The judges and I are looking for a red carpet gown that can be seen as a timeless classic
19:31and will be remembered for years to come.
19:34And this week's winner will receive their debut as a fashion designer for a lifetime mini-series
19:39event.
19:40This is going to be a good one.
19:48I'm so excited about my look.
19:53Seeing the way the light hits it, it's gold, silver at the same time, I love the bottom
19:59of the dress.
20:00You look awesome.
20:05I could really see someone wanting to wear this on the red carpet.
20:17She just sparkles and I think she looks amazing.
20:22She looks sexy and confident and like a starlet.
20:27I couldn't be more pleased and this is by far the gowniest gown I've ever made.
20:31I'm really happy with how it turned out.
20:46It is romantical and it is sweet and pretty.
20:50That sparkle and dazzle factor is something I've got on lock.
20:56I want this one so bad.
20:57The dress looks beautiful.
21:11The vinyl straps give this kind of sexy modern twist.
21:15Yesterday I thought it was going to be a dirty mop.
21:20Nobody would ever believe that the dress was made in 12 hours.
21:23Sunday, we're going to start with you.
21:38Please tell us about your look.
21:40I kind of chose this fabric.
21:42It kind of reads both gold and silver and this is just like an embroidered fabric that
21:46I chose to put over it.
21:48A look that you would remember on the red carpet, I think of this always has to be some kind of
21:52drama.
21:53And so I thought that the bow would give it a really nice, dramaful look.
21:56Isaac, let's start with you.
21:58Sanji, I love your dress.
22:01Of all the dresses, it feels dramatic and you're right, it feels memorable.
22:05I like the idea that it's midriff.
22:07I mean, everyone's just mad about midriff today.
22:09Not me.
22:10Well, I love the lame textile on the top of the dress.
22:15Can you turn around please?
22:16I wanted to connect the fabric to bring it down more of a gown as opposed to a top and
22:22a skirt.
22:23There's so many places for the eye to go that we're not appreciating this statement bow,
22:28which is really what is great about this dress.
22:30So it's just a few too many ideas.
22:32Okay.
22:33I love the top so much.
22:35I love that it could probably be photographed from many different angles with the bare shoulder
22:41facing a camera or otherwise and you almost have like a little bit of like a collar to
22:45hide behind.
22:46You did a wonderful job.
22:48Thank you, Sanji.
22:49Hi, Michelle.
22:50Hi.
22:51What's your red carpet look?
22:52So for my liquid hot magma lady, I used a silk burnout velvet with lorax in it to really
23:01catch the light and sparkle.
23:02And for added pizzazz, I have these little thumb hooks that are in there so she can pose
23:08kind of cool and show off her jewelry in an interesting fashion.
23:12I think the textile is actually the star of this dress because the silhouette is so simple
23:17and classic.
23:18I don't love the chain and I do feel maybe it needs like a little shoulder pad, something,
23:23right?
23:24I think this dress is really, really pretty.
23:26I love the way it fits her.
23:27I love the back.
23:29It's definitely timeless.
23:30If I had one criticism, it would be that it is a little sheer, but I think you did a
23:35really excellent job.
23:37Let's move on to Helen.
23:38So I wanted to do something that wasn't like sparkle, bam, down your throat, but a subtle,
23:43really delicate, expensive approach.
23:45So with that, I took this Chantilly beaded lace and I draped it from the waist to the
23:52floor so that I could have both scallops.
23:53I had a little issue with the neckline, so I toned it down to give it something more playful
23:59and flirty.
24:00And I used the mid portion of the lace on the bodice to create something that was like
24:04really modern.
24:05And that's my gown.
24:06I think your dress is really pretty.
24:08The beading is really gorgeous, but I don't think it's extremely memorable.
24:12I would have loved if there was just a little bit more drama somewhere.
24:16Right.
24:17But I think you made a really, really beautiful dress.
24:20You should be really proud of yourself.
24:21I love this dress, I have to say.
24:23I just love it.
24:24Good.
24:25I love the color of the dress.
24:26She's enchanting when she stands there.
24:28My only criticism is it didn't move beautifully.
24:31Such a modern idea has to move.
24:33She's very pretty, but she's too long.
24:35Okay, can you just, I just want to see what it would look like if it was slightly more
24:38empire.
24:39Scallop under the bust.
24:40Yeah.
24:41Right.
24:42There you go.
24:43Then it would be your Marquesa gown.
24:46Thank you, Helen.
24:47Dimitri, last but not least.
24:49I took my inspiration from the ultimate glam of 1920s and I bought this golden lace and
24:56I pieced it together to create this pattern.
24:58And I bought French and I actually dyed it in tea.
25:02This dress blew me away, might be my favorite thing that I've ever seen on the All Stars
25:07runway ever.
25:08Most of the dresses, I get the idea of what would happen in real life if the dress was
25:14to be translated, but this is one of the few times where that could be the dress.
25:20It really looks like this is thousands of dollars.
25:23I love the ease of the top.
25:24I love the way it hangs away from the back.
25:27It's really feels effortless.
25:29It feels very twenties.
25:31It feels very, I don't know, Josephine Baker-esque.
25:34And your length is really great there.
25:36I agree with Georgina.
25:37I think this dress is like right there.
25:39This is so major.
25:41It's a beautiful, beautiful dress.
25:42On the right girl, it would be irreverent and fabulous.
25:45But I might not wear this to the Oscars.
25:48The fringe has a kind of raffia feel to it, which brings the context a little bit less dressy.
25:54Like, it's maybe not exactly Oscar dress.
25:57Yeah.
25:58Thank you, Dimitri.
25:59Thank you, guys.
26:00Okay, designers, the judges and I now have one of the hardest decisions to make of the
26:06season so far.
26:07We've got a lot to discuss, so please wait in the backstage lounge and we will call you back.
26:14The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule
26:23collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's Spring Fashion Week.
26:28A fashion spread in Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor for
26:32one year, Qi Hair Care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special
26:37guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico, plus product and staff for
26:42an entire year of runway shows.
26:44From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional
26:50makeup artist services for their debut show.
26:53And from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch
26:57their line and $150,000 in cash.
27:02That was a really spectacular runway.
27:04Isaac was right when he said, I'm so glad it's these four that have made it this far.
27:09Having said that, it also makes our decision a lot harder because all of those dresses were
27:13so beautiful.
27:14Let's talk about Sanji's dress.
27:17She really did design the hell out of that.
27:19She was the only one actually to take a risk and do something gestural and make an impact.
27:25She was the only one that had bravery in her design.
27:28What the other designers did with the word timeless was make very classic looks.
27:33What stuck out in her mind was something that was going to be remembered.
27:37She created a top that has volume without overwhelming.
27:41I can see it on different body types and she did such a good job.
27:45Let's move on to Dimitri's dress.
27:48Wow.
27:49Dimitri somehow is able to make 12 hours into like 36 hours.
27:54Dimitri's dress just stood out to me.
27:56I totally fell in love with that dress.
27:58It is one of the prettiest dresses we've ever seen, but is it the most timeless Oscar idea?
28:04You know what?
28:05On the right, girl, I think it would work.
28:07Helen?
28:08Very pretty.
28:09Very pretty.
28:09Very safe.
28:10I know what you mean by safe, but there's an elegance to this.
28:14But is it memorable?
28:15Michelle's dress?
28:16Well, that dress made a gorgeous impact.
28:18It's a great shape that a million actresses would feel good in, but again, very safe to me.
28:24The biggest flaw here, I think, was the fabric.
28:26I understand why she picked it, because it certainly captured the light.
28:30There's something to do with the black burnout, the sparkle, the chain in the back.
28:34The chain part of it went a little skanky.
28:38Anything resembling a belly chain is just not okay.
28:41No, totally.
28:41And it made the fabric look inexpensive.
28:43It did.
28:44That's what took me my whole mind to that place.
28:46That might have been it, actually.
28:48I don't think it's Oscar worthy.
28:49Okay, let's bring him back out.
28:54Designers, this week's winner will receive their debut as a costume designer for an original
29:06lifetime miniseries.
29:09And that designer is...
29:16Dimitri.
29:16Dimitri.
29:19Thank you, guys.
29:20That was the challenge to win for me.
29:22I love it.
29:23And you have a guaranteed place in the finale.
29:26Beautiful.
29:27Congratulations.
29:28Thank you, guys.
29:28Congratulations.
29:30Good luck, please.
29:30Congratulations.
29:31Congratulations.
29:32So I'm very happy to be in the finale.
29:35Yes!
29:40But I'm not done yet.
29:43I need to win this.
29:46There are only two places left in the finale.
29:56Sandri.
29:59Your work has earned you that second place in the finale.
30:03Congratulations.
30:04Oh, my God.
30:05Thank you guys so much.
30:11Oh, my God.
30:12I'm so excited.
30:23I'm so excited.
30:24I'm pumped.
30:24This means a lot to me to be able to make it to finale.
30:27Season 10.
30:28Right?
30:29I know, right?
30:29You know, for Dimitri, I think it's awesome.
30:31Like, he's a great designer.
30:33He won our season.
30:34But for me, I feel like I'm the underdog.
30:36We all grew, but you just phew.
30:42Michelle and Helen, you've both come so far, but there's only one place left in the finale.
30:48I have to tell you, we haven't made our decision yet.
30:55Michelle, we want to hear why you think you deserve that last place over Helen.
31:00I deserve that last place because my aesthetic is not up here and isn't shown every day.
31:08And I think that I have a killer, killer direction, and it needs to be seen.
31:15I think I would nail it.
31:17Helen, why do you think you deserve that last place in the finale over Michelle?
31:21There are so many looks that I've put on this runway that I never thought I was capable of.
31:26And looking back on only a few months ago when I was here for season 12, I'm like,
31:30wait, I did that?
31:31I churned out these looks in, like, one day this season?
31:35And I just feel like, as a young designer, I finally know what I'm capable of.
31:40I really do know who I am, and I'm ready to show that.
31:44We're going to take everything you said into consideration, and we will call you back out.
31:48Come on, girl.
31:50You guys can cuddle and spoon.
31:52Totally permissible.
31:56We have two dresses that just didn't quite nail it.
32:00I don't know if it's clear.
32:02I mean, is it clear?
32:03No, I don't think we can make a decision.
32:05I can't decide.
32:06I can't.
32:06Not for this part of the competition.
32:12Let's bring them back out.
32:13There are all of the sad dresses and garments from our previous designers that have been kicked off.
32:27I can smell Helen's fear, and I've got the same fear, too.
32:31Designers, we have one more challenge.
32:34And it will take place live on the runway tonight.
32:44To stop you from being sent home, we want you to reinvent these failed looks that sent your fellow
32:50all-stars home into a totally new design that will win you the last place in the finale.
32:56You must choose at least three looks from six failed designs and reinvent them into a successful look.
33:02And you will only have one hour to complete this challenge.
33:07Good luck.
33:07I really love Justin's avant-garde pencil skirt, and I'm thinking about redefining it with a shorter hemline.
33:21I like Jay's pleather pants from the QVC challenge, so I start hacking at those.
33:34This is .
33:36I'm using Patricia's Uptown Girl lining, which was a black shift.
33:41From Fabio's bridesmaid dress, I'm cutting the skirt off of his.
33:45Like cutting up somebody's work, that's up.
33:48When it comes down to someone who's passionate and then creates something beautiful,
33:52and then you have to butcher it, that's just cruel and unusual.
34:06I can't, I can't cut up somebody's work, like this is so up.
34:11Like, somebody worked really hard on this and don't have to cut it off.
34:21Well, why don't you just cut up the really ugly stuff?
34:36Helen is crying because, you know, we've been designing challenge after challenge after challenge,
34:41and now we have to cut up somebody else's challenge work.
34:44It's not easy.
34:45Just, just go work.
34:47I don't want to, think of it as it's, you're giving it a new life.
34:52You can do it, Helen.
34:56I looked at the clock and I'm like, time to get over it because I don't want to go home.
35:00I'm putting my all into this last look.
35:10I don't need a mental nervous breakdown right now.
35:12I need to make a garment.
35:15At the end of the day, I have me and my passion,
35:18and if the judges see how much of myself I put into my work, I'm really banking on winning.
35:2460 seconds, Helen.
35:30That's it.
35:32Time's up.
35:33Good job.
35:38I'm going through what I've just used, and I've only used two looks.
35:43It was unintentional.
35:45I've put three items into it, but not three looks.
35:50I'm in trouble.
35:53This is nerve-wracking for me.
35:55I can only imagine how much it is for them.
36:01Designers, I know this late night challenge was probably really harsh,
36:05but the prize is worth fighting for.
36:07Helen, let's start with you.
36:09Please reveal your reinvented look.
36:17Helen, tell us about your reinvented look, please.
36:20So I used four looks.
36:22Patricia's Uptown Girl look.
36:24This is actually the lining of it.
36:25Also from Fabio's Bridesmaid look, I took the Satin Face Organza.
36:30For Chris's Wicked Couture look, he used silver trim that I just did little inserts here,
36:36because it kind of gives like that cool school girl vibe.
36:38And I took the beads from Kate's Party Dress.
36:41Michelle, please reveal your reinvented look.
36:44Michelle, please tell us about your reinvented look.
36:54So I made a pancho where I took a pair of pants and remade them into a new cooler
37:00poncho with Jay's pair of pants that he had for his QVC challenge.
37:05I also reinvented the tank, and it goes from high to low, just how the pancho goes.
37:10And then using the skirt portion of Justin's look to balance out this fabulous pancho.
37:18I'm seeing Jay's pants and Jay's tank from the same look, right?
37:24Apparently, yes.
37:26The skirt is Justin's couture.
37:28So you used two outfits.
37:30Apparently that happened.
37:31The challenge was taking three pieces, at least three.
37:36Apparently I got a little confused.
37:38I'm going to speak to Helen first.
37:40There's something so fresh about that dress.
37:42I love the ease of it.
37:44I love the length of it.
37:45I love this little fang, kind of cat ear, school girl take you did on the neckline.
37:51You always put your entire self into a dress.
37:54And I'm getting this mood from you.
37:56There's an austerity to it.
37:58There's a sadness to that dress, which I appreciate.
38:01I think you did a great job.
38:03Michelle, I really love what you did too.
38:06That's such a creative, wonderful take.
38:10I love this new length of that skirt because it didn't work at the length he had it.
38:15And it's so amazing that you gave us all these lines and all these planes and all this like kind of cubism in one hour.
38:23Helen, I mean, what can I say?
38:25It's beautiful.
38:26You are at your best.
38:28And I'm sorry, but you are at your best when you're a wreck.
38:33You rise to the challenge.
38:35And Michelle, I love your pancho.
38:38It's so innovative and I definitely fuel your personality in this.
38:45Georgina?
38:46Wow.
38:47On one hand, we have a dress that's so considered, tailored.
38:53I love the wink of the fang or cat ear.
38:55It's so nothing and it's so everything.
38:58That just, that is the dress.
39:00And then we have you, Michelle, which is, it's amazing.
39:04You threw things together that no one else would think to throw together.
39:07I love the lines.
39:08I love the angles.
39:10I think the intellect behind it is really smart, really witty and clever.
39:14Both of you have done that in such different ways.
39:16Both of you, amazing, amazing work.
39:19Thank you, models.
39:19You can leave the runway.
39:26Isaac, Georgina and I are going to write down the name of the designer we believe deserves the third place
39:32in the finale.
39:33Oh God, that's brutal.
39:37I love the
39:59Designers, you've done some incredible work, but we can only choose one of you to go into the finale.
40:05And that designer is Helen, good job girl, which means I'm sorry to say Michelle you
40:27were out. Helen, thank you. You can join the others. Thank you. I feel really awful for
40:36having butchered my friend's work, but I ended up winning the challenge, so I'm okay
40:40with that because I'm still here. Thanks, guys. Thank you so much for your job. Come
40:44give you a hug. Goodbye, baby. Bye. Thanks, guys. Lovely meeting you. I'm totally surprised
40:56I'm not in the final, but when I had my luck walk today, I was like, even if I go home,
41:02I'm so happy because what I did was amazing. What happened? She's in. What do you think?
41:09Are you serious? Yeah. I don't know why I'm sad now because I'm really kind of exhausted
41:16and sort of glad to not have to make seven looks or whatever. Even though I knew what
41:23they were going to be, and they were going to be rad. Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
41:33This is your final challenge. You'll design an eight-piece collection. You'll get just four
41:38days. Oh, my God. Getting your fringe on again? Are you doing lace again? I was just asking.
41:46Claws are out. It's the end of the journey, and it's a final push.
41:50This means everything to me. Need more hands. Let's win this.
41:56Welcome to the Project Runway All-Stars season finale. Only three designers remain,
42:04and it all comes down to tonight.
42:06Specifically to the Project Runway all-Stars season finale.
