00:02It starts out with the exciting part instead of boring me by showing him getting to the monster first.

00:09He finds out his attacks don't work, which I can accept because it's a monster, so it can be magical.

00:15Good thing it was implied that he doesn't know he can use Chaos Control, or this would be easy if it was written well.

00:22Other than it being a really long time since Essay 2 was released and so nobody really remembers it,

00:27I don't know why a few people think the term Chaos Control only applies to time freezing,

00:34when Shadow said Chaos Control before warping in the final Sonic and Shadow boss fight in Sonic Adventure 2.

00:44So it's clearly always been that he didn't have to say it before he could warp.

00:49It goes back to a flashback to the arc,

00:52and the alien wonders out of nowhere if he doesn't want to keep going and potentially get Maria back.

00:58He naturally accused them of joking.

01:01I wish it was made clear that he was being sarcastic,

01:05because why else would he say that?

01:07Does he think something horrible would happen if he used all of the orbs

01:11and is trying to discourage them from getting them because of that?

01:15Shadow gets threatened by security robots.

01:17I thought he was back in time.

01:20It's finally lampshaded how much he likes to just stand around when he's in danger,

01:25but that doesn't make the problem go away.

01:28He starts fighting and it's boring because I know he's guaranteed to be fine,

01:33and he's not doing anything new.

01:36It pads out I'm getting the orb when it's a simple process.

01:40Shadow's told he has to defeat the master of the space to get out.

01:43I like that Shadow keeps talking like this when he's fighting.

01:48It's the only thing remotely entertaining about his fighting.

01:52I'd rather the pacing be faster since it's a foregone conclusion he'll get at least two of the orbs.

01:58He thinks to run around it at super speed.

02:01That's all there is to say about that fight.

02:04That it looks like he did something that didn't happen in the game at one point.

02:08He sees his prototype,

02:10so it really is the past.

02:11The story stops for a bunch of exposition that amounts to nothing,

02:15since Shadow finds out that here, for some reason,

02:18the life support system of the Bio-Lizard is harder than its body.

02:22It turns out Shadow is wrong,

02:24and the life support system really is its weakness.

02:28Then why was he written to say something that was wrong?

02:31What a waste of a panel.

02:33He's also able to use the orb that was specifically said

02:36to be only for wish-granting one wish after getting three of them,

02:41as a way to give himself more power than usual.

02:44So he uses his chaos power looking cool.

02:48Otherwise it's all noise with nothing to talk about.

02:50I don't know why Bug-Eye has been talking about him this way.

02:56It's great that he shows sympathy,

02:58saying that it's a poor creature who should be put to rest.

03:01But why isn't he being attacked when he says that?

03:05Shadow wins by being fast like you'd expect,

03:08and gets to go back to where he was before.

03:12He lampshades how convenient the wish orb power is,

03:15and thinks that it's risky.

03:18Yeah, that's why the idea of it turning him evil

03:21seems like an obvious plot twist from a mile away.

03:25Shadow calls out to Maria,

03:27and now she can hear him.

03:29Why does she think he was hurt?

03:32She says she couldn't hear or speak until just now,

03:35and is blind for some reason.

03:37For some reason indeed,

03:39what a magical world.

03:41Shadow thinks she still can't see or feel him.

03:44What she says reveals that she doesn't know her destiny yet.

03:49Yeah, duh.

03:51Why is he surprised that she's from a time before that?

03:55And she's not dead currently.

03:58That line is stupid.

04:01This issue is about shadow having a fight with monsters

04:04because the plot demands it,

04:06which is good because it's different from fighting robots,

04:10and fighting it just the way you'd expect,

04:12and better because it's even smart enough to think

04:15to run around one of them really fast.

04:18Which is the only thing there is to actually say about the fight.

04:22He doesn't even have two of the orbs yet,

04:24and Maria's already back.

04:26So that's convenient.

04:28So why was she there when he didn't even have one of the orbs?

04:31What a novel way to use the idea of wish-granting orbs

04:35that you need to get all of.

04:38That it still does grant your wish,

04:40but only a little bit if you have just one.

04:43I wish the pacing was faster because it was a little boring.

04:47I knew he'd never get hurt.

04:49It never proved he'd even had the guts to hurt Bug Guy last issue.

04:53So there was no tension.

04:54I was just waiting for his creatively bankrupt fights to end.

05:00That's a problem with showing fights

05:02that involved nothing but people with plot armor.

05:05It only had one interesting scene at the end.

05:09Oh yeah, another reason I don't care.

05:11I have no reason to hate these monsters.

05:14But because the boring part was fighting with little talking,

05:18I could get through it quickly anyways.

05:20So I suppose it was sort of good.

05:24It's just that if there's no tension,

05:27the fight is pointless,

05:28and it shouldn't take so long

05:29when it's not being interesting to watch.

05:32It can't even be interesting to watch most of the time

05:35because then it would have to involve...

05:37Because then it would have to involve Shadow

05:39doing stuff he doesn't in the games.

05:42Which is great occasionally.

05:45But it would be weird most of the time.

05:48There would have been tension

05:49if there were original characters

05:50fighting alongside him

05:52that you already saw get hurt.

05:54If I were to give any more compliments,

05:57it'd just be praising for doing what it's supposed to do.

06:00Instead of making Shadow

06:01a completely incompetent moron

06:03just to have drama.

06:05Basically just saying

06:06at least it wasn't enraging.

06:09That doesn't make it good

06:10just because of that.

06:12It was average.

06:14Mediocre.
