00:17Shadow says they can't just leave 9 alone with the Shards
00:22Even though as he's reminded he's the only one who can fix reality
00:26Yeah, so what is them being with him going to do?
00:30They still can't brainwash him into only doing what they want
00:34And they don't know how you're supposed to put the Prism Shards to restore Sonic's world
00:41So they can't make sure he does what they want
00:45Because they don't know what he has to do
00:48He has to think 9's plan on rewriting Sonic's universe
00:52To make him the ruler and everyone else miserable
00:55Because otherwise he has no reason to worry
00:58Because 9's trapped in that cave
01:00With nothing else he can do but do what he said he would
01:03And 9 cares about Sonic
01:06Why was Sonic grabbed by the robot when he was jumping towards him?
01:12Somehow it was fast enough to catch him and throw him
01:15Also the Shadow could catch him
01:18And Sonic teases at him by saying he hurts him too
01:22Which he clearly only says to tease him
01:25Like he's done the games tons of times
01:28I guess I could understand saying that the exact way he said it was out of character
01:34Sonic's separated from Shadow
01:37And 9 takes a needlessly long time trying to bring the Red Shard to the top
01:42Considering that he can fly
01:44And has multiple mechanical tails
01:48The Green Hill Zone gets its color restored
01:52This is just a ripoff of Sonic Generations
01:55Sonic's friends get returned to normal
01:59But it's only temporary
02:01Sonic acted like his world was restored
02:04Even though the holograms didn't disappear
02:07So I guess he was under the assumption that
02:11The world being restored would necessarily require
02:14That he would be sent to the past version of his world
02:18Sonic gets told by 9 that this is harder than he thought
02:22Sadly he doesn't explain why
02:25But he's not lying
02:26I just have to assume this was because
02:29Putting the Red Shard where it was
02:31Created a shockwave that sent 9 away from it
02:34And that moved it away from where it's supposed to be
02:36Along with the tail holding it
02:38So then
02:39He could get around this problem right away
02:42By just repositioning so that he's directly above the place
02:45It's supposed to be put into
02:46This seems so arbitrary
02:49A bunch of uncreative stuff happens
02:52Not worth describing
02:54Why did the Eggman and the flying mech suit take until now
02:58To start fighting Sonic?
03:00I get to see Sonic get smacked into a wall
03:03And Shadow is smacked too
03:05They really should play louder sounds
03:08When the characters get hit
03:10Sonic's knocked away
03:12And 9's threatened with some lasers
03:14And has to fight in the temple
03:15It's creative that there's a temple in Green Hill Zone
03:19I thought it was just some cave
03:21Heaven forbid we learn anything about the ancient people
03:25Who built that temple though
03:26That'd be effort
03:28That'd make me care about this temple
03:30To get people emotionally attached to this new concept
03:33A little
03:34Eventually I get to see Sonic smacked into the floor
03:38By a shockwave
03:39Sonic asks him if he's okay
03:41He puts his hand on his shoulder
03:44And 9 says happily that he's almost done
03:47And needs him to buy him time
03:48Sonic says the council is using shard energy to power up
03:52So since he's full of it too
03:549 could give him a boost
03:569 says it's dangerous
03:58Because too little energy or too much
04:01And they lose
04:02But he's pressured into it
04:04One of the Eggmen calls himself daddy
04:08That was weird
04:09He arbitrarily has to not move
04:12That's just how the magic of the prism is
04:15At least he told 9 he's outdone himself though
04:19Sonic can make afterimages of himself
04:21Ripping off Archie
04:23Along with him making a giant tornado
04:26That sends the aircraft of the old Eggmen flying away
04:29With him in it
04:30It's cool to look at
04:32He has to save Shadow after he gets hurt
04:35He has chaos powers and he never uses them
04:39Why?
04:40The aircraft fires lasers directly upwards
04:44And that creates what looks like a hologram of modern Eggman
04:48If any of those Eggmen think this looks like the pinnacle of all creation
04:53Then why aren't any of them wearing his outfit
04:55If they think that outfit is the most respectable thing ever
04:59It's a hologram that's able to destroy the loop
05:02Sonic screaming no about it is melodramatic
05:06Because it's not
05:07We were never told he grew up here
05:09And fans are sick of this place
05:11So it's a lane
05:12Anyways
05:14It's creative that there's a giant Eggman
05:16That looks like a hologram here
05:18It's some charming childlike wonder
05:21That 9 just thinks this is cool
05:23Being in awe of him being a titan
05:25He has this weirdly apathetic response
05:28To the possibility that his idea for powering up Sonic
05:31Wouldn't work
05:32He says just in case it doesn't work
05:35It's been a slice of reality
05:37Like I think he'd be really motivated by the fear of death
05:40Since he's a kid and almost got killed a huge amount of times by bullies
05:44I guess he's just suppressing his feelings
05:48And trying really hard to look tough
05:50To the point where it's absolutely effortless for him
05:53And he isn't feeling that fear
05:55All Sonic gets to do with his powerup
05:58Is ram into the giant Eggman
06:00And he falls over
06:01And 9 looks depressed
06:05So they go back to the cave
06:07With Sonic looking forward to getting his world restored
06:10He says there's still a shard missing from this
06:13And the last one's in the Grimm
06:15Sonic lampshades that he could have told him that earlier
06:19To save them the trip here and back
06:21He's not usually snarky to 9 without being snarked at first
06:25So it's a lot more likely that he wouldn't have said this
06:28And gotten the reaction he did
06:309's actually confused by the words
06:33And back
06:34Even though in an earlier scene
06:36He clearly said
06:38They're gonna fix everything
06:40So what could he possibly mean by that
06:43Other than
06:43Restore Green Hill Zone
06:45When he has literally no reason to care about Ghost Hill
06:49Because he's clearly not from there
06:51He says the only reason he came here
06:55Was to use the Prism's impression
06:56To see which pieces went where
06:58So now they can rebuild the Grimm
07:00To be what we've always wanted
07:02Why does he think there's a we
07:04When Sonic already made it clear
07:06That he wanted his world back
07:08Sonic just says in response
07:10Yeah, to rebuild Green Hill
07:13I don't know why he says that
07:15Instead of
07:16My universe
07:17Clearly there's a bunch of other Green Hills already
07:21And they're called the same thing
07:22And it would be ridiculously out of character
07:25If Sonic only cared about Green Hill
07:28When it comes to the places on his planet
07:30It's frustrating because he could have easily
07:33Had a good response to this
07:35He's confused
07:37And says they're making a better world
07:39Instead of remaking his
07:40Sonic just says he doesn't need to make a clean slate
07:44And wants his old home back
07:46Why would he think his old world
07:48Was literally perfect?
07:50Why doesn't he want Nine to get rid of cancer
07:52From his world at the very least
07:54When he's supposed to be a good person
07:56Not just a jerk who wholeheartedly
07:59Wants Eggman to be still causing trouble
08:01So he can have fun fighting him
08:03He has faith in Nine to not be a monster
08:06Because he's trusted him the whole show
08:08Which means he doesn't think Nine's idea of better
08:10Would be an evil idea
08:12And that's the only reason he wanted to trust him right now
08:15He's not even considering the possibility
08:17That Nine would agree to anything other than a world
08:20That's just how he wants
08:21Which is for us
08:22Because he just said
08:23We've wanted
08:25What's wrong with just
08:28Going with Nine to the Grim
08:30Letting him do what he wants with the Prism
08:33And then saying
08:34Hey why don't you try to restore my world
08:37As a fun little hobby
08:39Now that you've done all of that
08:40And if you don't
08:42Then I'll just have to try to do it
08:44That's all I'm going to be able to do
08:46Because there isn't anything fun to do here
08:48What a real person would say here is
08:52Okay as long as you restore my friends
08:54To exactly how they were before
08:56So that you're actually restoring my friends
08:59And restore the places in my world
09:01And then we can start making it better
09:04How is he too brain dead stupid
09:06To just respond like a normal person to this
09:09There's being surprised in the moment
09:11But that doesn't make you stupider than anybody on earth
09:14And incapable of even the slightest common sense
09:17Why doesn't he assume Nine's idea of a better world
09:21Is one without any diseases or tyrants in it
09:23Because that'd benefit Nine too
09:26I'm sure he's had the common cold before
09:29Nine doesn't care about his home
09:31And then he says it's gone
09:33Even though he never showed any indication
09:36That he thought that way before
09:38If he didn't plan on fixing his home universe
09:41Why would he even try
09:44To put the prison shards in certain places
09:46It's really confusing that Nine wouldn't try
09:49To restore his home dimension
09:51As a personal favor to Sonic
09:53Because it's not like he explained
09:55That he thinks if he does that
09:57Sonic will immediately ditch him for Tails
10:00Because he would like him better
10:02It's not a thought logically
10:04He'd believe him and not argue with him
10:08Nine says you're wrong about that
10:10We need to build a new home
10:12It's not a very persuasive argument
10:15Because need isn't backed up by any sort of evidence
10:19He's supposed to be a genius
10:21He wouldn't be this stupid
10:23Why doesn't he just lie to him?
10:25Well maybe he is lying to him
10:27That's not explained
10:28So it just seems like he's insane
10:30He calls him Little Buddy
10:32And Nine yells at him to stop calling him that
10:35And shoves him
10:36So I have to assume it's because
10:38He thinks he's being condescending
10:39By calling him Little
10:40He should have said
10:42Stop calling me Little
10:43It's only jarring
10:45Because he's never acted like
10:47He hated being treated like a little kid before
10:49It makes sense that he would be
10:51Sensitive
10:52After he was bullied so much in the past
10:55It is pretty brilliant that him treating him like a little kid
10:58Would backfire on him
11:00Nine rants like a spoiled brat
11:02That Sonic never considered what he wanted
11:05And Sonic says he assumed he wanted what he did
11:09Because of what they'd been through together
11:11Sonic says just like the real Tails would
11:14And it's naturally called out
11:16I am real
11:18Just not your real friend
11:19That was cathartic
11:22And surprisingly great dialogue
11:23It makes sense that he'd say that
11:26Of course the idea of this would be really hard on him
11:29Because it's an extra kick in the face
11:30After everything he went through before he met Sonic
11:33That when he finally found a friend
11:36He was only liking him
11:38Because he was projecting Tails onto him
11:41But it's still frustrating
11:43Because he could have easily not said
11:45The real Tails
11:47Sonic never said that
11:49To Secret Rings Tails
11:52Or Black Knight Tails
11:55Then he asks what Sonic thought would happen to him
11:58After he got his friends back
12:00This is cathartic
12:03Because it's acknowledging what the audience was worried about
12:06But there was no foreshadowing
12:08That 9 ever knew he'd be killing himself if he restored his world
12:11If he just
12:12This is just so frustrating
12:14Because this could have easily been all they were fighting about
12:17Sonic just says we're all in this together
12:22And he thought he'd grow to love his friends
12:24So he always assumed 9 was going to survive
12:27How is he this unpersuasive?
12:31I thought he was going to say
12:32I never thought you'd stop existing
12:35That's horrifying
12:36And then reluctantly try to convince him to sacrifice himself
12:40Because billions of people would be brought back to life if he did so
12:45And then it'd feel totally understandable that 9 would flip out at him
12:49That's what I imagined this would be like
12:52Instead he says he thought 9 would love meeting his friends
12:55But even this gets 9 really mad at him
12:58And it's confusing
13:00Because 9 never said that he thought he'd hate his friends
13:05And there was never even any silent implication of that
13:09By showing him picturing meeting his friends and being annoyed
13:14He didn't hate the rest of them
13:16So why would he think he'd hate them?
13:19He could have been written here to say that he doesn't believe Sonic that he's going to survive
13:23Well I guess he's paranoid enough to assume they think he's a freak for having two tails
13:29But it's abysmal of the writer to not have 9 explain this
13:32Because this show sucks so much
13:34That I don't really feel like it's a guarantee that the writer thought of this
13:379 says that what he hates about him
13:40Is that he just jumps into situations with no idea about the outcome
13:43It's a horribly written line because of how vague he's been
13:47Because he's not saying that he thinks he's still going to die
13:52Because he's not explaining why he wouldn't like his friends
13:57Why do I have to just assume that this is all about him thinking that Sonic would abandon him for them
14:05And because they would be off-put by him being an evil version of Tails
14:09He fires some lasers that send Sonic flying and walks towards the portal
14:14Sonic says we can make this work, trust me
14:17Like he's trying to keep a girl from breaking up with him
14:20Instead of running towards him instantly
14:22Like an actual person would and pushing him down
14:26I hate that he doesn't simply smack into him and start fighting him
14:30Before he could even go into the portal or something
14:32Sonic's supposed to have an attitude
14:34I'm not sure if it's really in character for him to even risk letting 9 leave
14:39When that would destroy his chances of saving his world
14:42Because there's no reason he'd be able to follow him
14:469 says the only person he can trust is himself
14:50Even though he could trust Sonic to save him earlier
14:52But this is because he betrayed his trust by saying he wasn't the real Tails
14:58And he's very sensitive
15:00And he goes into the portal
15:02And it makes no sense that Shadow just stood there watching as 9 left with the shards
15:08He thinks he's the greatest because he's the ultimate life-form
15:11So he'd think he could beat him by just spin-dashing into him when he wasn't expecting him to
15:16To smack him into a wall which could just knock him out right there
15:20And then smacking his head against the floor a bunch of times
15:23Or he could have thrown a Chaos spear at him
15:26And then spin-dash into him if he was really that afraid of his mechanical Tails despite him being the ultimate life-form
15:34He was very arrogant
15:369 would already be knocked out by the time Sonic could react to him
15:41I can only make sense of it by assuming that he thought Sonic would beat him up
15:46But he would at least let him take the prison shards from 9
15:49So he would get chased by Sonic afterwards
15:52Not the first time he's had to deal with that and he survived
15:56Maybe he thinks he can't attack 9 with full force without killing him
16:01And he thinks Sonic might turn into him
16:04Or go crazy if he goes through a heated with Maria
16:07That really should have been explained
16:10Even if he has rings he could just keep hitting him until he's run out of rings
16:15This story by Marcus Reinhardt
16:19Had Sonic get a power-up from the conveniently all-powerful shard energy
16:23So he can ram over the giant Eggman projection that barely does anything anyways
16:28And then 9 leaves them with the prisms to make a new world
16:31That he for some reason doesn't want to make on Ghost Hill that also has no people in it
16:37And it's no forced how the scene was executed as a result
16:41If you just look at this for what it looks like on a surface level
16:45It looks frustratingly petty and silly of him
16:49Because he assumes he'll hate Sonic's friends for no reason
16:53It doesn't make it clear that he still thinks he might not survive the world being restored after Sonic reassured him
16:59It would be so much less confusing if that was all the fight was about
17:03I hate how vague the dialogue is here
17:06It couldn't get any lazier than this
17:09It's frustrating that he's being so stupid
17:11By giving up his only possible friend just because he doesn't want to share him
17:16This scene is just barely acceptable
17:20Because it just barely justifies itself
17:23And I've seen betrayals that make no sense in Sonic before
17:26At the end of the day the twist doesn't feel forced
17:30Because he's been through so much
17:33That it makes sense that he would be so entitled
17:36That Sonic not measuring up to his standards would make him freak out
17:42That Sonic saying he's not real would really make him freak out
17:47Because technically by saying he's not the real Tails he is sort of saying he still thinks of him as a freak of nature
17:54Not because he's a mutant but because he's a weird aberration instead of what he wants him to be like
18:02I wish he explained that's how he came off
18:05Nine thought Sonic was the only real person who would ever act like a friend to him
18:10Someone as universally hated as Nine is
18:13I'd have expected him to decide to settle for anybody who even acts like he likes him
18:18Okay it makes sense that he thinks that would make him insecure out of shame for how desperate he is
18:24And that he can't handle any more insecurity
18:27This should have been explained
18:30He should have said that if Sonic had Tails back he wouldn't bother with him anymore
18:35Because he'd compare the two and think he's just an unlikable grump
18:38And why bother with him if Tails can do almost everything he can do
18:41In fact he could just tell Tails to make mechanical tails for himself
18:45And then he'd be totally useless to him
18:47Their conversation should have been a lot longer
18:51Which they easily could have accomplished by getting rid of some of the robot fighting
18:55I would have liked to know exactly how Nine's better world idea was going to look like
19:00Because we don't really know much of what Nine wants when it comes to material things
19:07Other than a seed
19:08I'm assuming it involves a bunch of robots
19:12Why did this whole fight only happen because he deluded himself into thinking a hero
19:17Who insisted on helping some strangers fight some robots in another world from his own would happily abandon his world
19:24Why don't he say to Sonic
19:26Sure I'll try to get back
19:27I don't know if I'll be able to perfectly recreate it like you remembered it
19:31And actually just remake the world the way he wanted
19:35That'd make a more interesting season 3
19:38Him discovering how not really restored his world was
19:42It's distracting when some dramatic thing happens when things could have easily gone differently if they had different dialogue
19:48Because Sonic could have just as easily not said that he could have saved him the trip here and back
19:53And gotten their arguments to even start at all
19:56He does have an attitude but he's been nothing but nice to him until this point
19:59But here he snarked at him unprovoked and revealed that he had a different goal
20:02It's very disappointing in its dialogue
20:05Especially if you don't care enough to think about it enough to realize there are so many different ways it could have gone
20:10And the writer chose the worst possible laziest one
