00:12And it's boring how needlessly dragged out it is.
00:16It's pretty dumb that they keep having the baby one in serious scenes.
00:20I don't know how Nine's fearless enough to just be snarky with the most feared dictators in the world when in a helpless position after all of the times he's been bullied.
00:30He would have been scared that any moment he was going to get hurt again.
00:34I know he's used to it, but he's better at defending himself by this point because he has mechanical tails.
00:42It would have obviously felt more true to its character and be better for the tension to have him be terrified.
00:48But instead he acts like Sonic with Eggman in the Colors era.
00:52If you make the characters scared, that does half the work of making it seem scary.
00:55I don't think they look scary, but Nine wouldn't be affected by their looks because he grew up in a place being ruined by them and they managed to overpower him effortlessly.
01:05It's never explained why he didn't fight back with his extra tails and prevent them from handcuffing him.
01:12Wouldn't it be a more exciting looking scene if he tried to save himself and he got hurt instead?
01:17Sonic saves the pirate Knuckles from lasers, and it wastes time with Rusty's predictable threatening of them.
01:25Why don't you call the multiverse the Shatterverse?
01:28No one got told that's what it's called.
01:31They'd just want to call it the multiverse.
01:33From the perspective of everyone there, the multiverse was always that way and they'd reject the name.
01:41It looks cool when Sonic knocks a cannonball away.
01:45It's convenient that he never gets hit by a laser after all the time he stands still flattering his sails.
01:52He calls him a beauty for being smart.
01:55That's weird for him, and no one lampshades it.
01:59He usually has better social skills than that.
02:01Rusty sees Amy and acts shocked, even though she would have seen her way before this.
02:08She somehow responds to this by telling the crew to sail away with the excuse that her ship's gonna sink anyway.
02:15Even though the whole reason she was roboticized was so she would do whatever Eggman would want.
02:21Just have her get hit in the head before this point, at least it would sort of try to justify this.
02:27I really hate how long it's taking on Sonic trying to convince Knuckles not to abandon them in a canoe.
02:34It's so lame.
02:35Predictably, the speech convinced him to come back, and it gives him advice that only he'd know to give.
02:42But why didn't they know to do all of this?
02:45Their experience with being pirates.
02:48Why were they despairing?
02:50Are they new to this?
02:51Even if their ship never got damaged before, they would have already been told how to react to this.
02:58They prevent the ship from sinking, as I think that it was such a waste of time to show Dredd almost abandoning them,
03:04especially since we already knew he was a coward, and he decided not to abandon them two seconds later.
03:10He sounds menacing, saying that his plan's gonna be legendary, and there's dramatic music, and Sonic looks suspicious.
03:18The story wastes time with Nine talking to the council for a while.
03:22It's up in the air right now whether Nine really thinks Sonic isn't his friend because he abandoned him or not,
03:28because he was paranoid right from the start.
03:31Maybe his standards for a friend are just that high?
03:34Because he's naturally very entitled when it comes to what a friend should be,
03:39because he thinks of it as life making it up to him for all the suffering and loneliness he went through.
03:44Or he's just lying that he doesn't think of him as his friend,
03:47so that Eggman won't go as hard on him just to spite him.
03:51If he doesn't treat him like he isn't his friend anymore as soon as he sees him again,
03:55then that's gonna call whether he actually believes this into question.
03:59He gives them some useful information.
04:01He tells them Sonic's a living shatter battery, so they need him alive.
04:07It seems to frame it as him betraying him because he spoke rudely about Sonic and he's giving the villains info,
04:13but he is helping Sonic by convincing them to go easy on him.
04:17I get to see him get shocked.
04:20Knuckles gets a plan that has Sonic running around in a circle,
04:23which creates a tornado getting the ship to float.
04:26That's new.
04:27Cool.
04:27The music really wants me to take this seriously,
04:31but I just can't because of the generic pirate speak of Knuckles and his over-the-top
04:35hoping everyone would know his name after this.
04:38I was just embarrassed to be watching the show because of how cheesy and kiddy the pirates are being.
04:44Of course, I still appreciate that it's even trying to be epic,
04:48in the same sense that I always know it's good that they make Sonic's fur blue.
04:51Having a Sonic story be cheesy while taking itself seriously is still way better than not even trying
04:58because it was serious from the start from the things its villain did,
05:02and that gets you more engaged than being comedic or just having the characters stay still and talk.
05:08Knuckles acts rude, putting him under some pressure to do what he wants,
05:11and throws him in front of the ship where he takes an overly long time for no reason
05:15before running while pulling the ship behind him from holding a rope.
05:18That's new, but since when is Sonic strong enough to pull the weight of an entire ship behind him?
05:25So he's unusually strong in this continuity.
05:28One time exerting that much force on a tiny part of the ship only caused a small part of it to get ripped off?
05:35I guess the material of the ship is supernaturally strong.
05:39Knuckles keeps having his crew fire stuff out of cannons at the ship,
05:42which knocks over the robots on it.
05:44I already saw robots on a pirate ship before this show in Sonic Rush Adventure.
05:50Rusty slips because of the thing fired at her.
05:53So it's creative what kind of things get fired at the ship.
05:57Rusty rips off Bunny by standing really tall because of extended legs.
06:04Why is Knuckles just standing there instead of fighting the robots?
06:07Why does Sonic wait so long to destroy the robots around him?
06:12The rest of the crew starts fighting the robots uncreatively.
06:16I like that Tails attacked one with something that he took off it.
06:19I guess that's new.
06:23Sonic generously tells Knuckles to get the treasure himself
06:26after Knuckles inexplicably told Sonic to get it
06:29even though his ego is really set on finding it himself.
06:31At least the action scene hasn't been boring.
06:36I liked that Sonic spin-dashed along the extended arm Rusty had.
06:41He gets saved.
06:42I get to see Sonic smacked off the ship.
06:45Tails gets to save him and is thanked for it.
06:48Why are the heroes doing nothing when Rusty heads for them trying to finish them off?
06:53Sonic runs away and then destroys the robots from behind
06:57because then they wouldn't have their guards up.
06:59But it was just as easy for him to kill these exact robots earlier
07:03by just jumping at them directly.
07:06He didn't have to make the crew think they were all screwed.
07:09It could have easily made sense
07:11by having those robots have force fields around them.
07:15And Rusty was just waiting for them to turn off the force fields
07:19after she had handcuffed all of the pirates.
07:22Rouge sounds impossibly stupid
07:24by asking if it's just her to think that Rusty looks like Amy.
07:28I mean, Black Rose.
07:30Sonic runs over the surface of the ocean
07:32and catches Knuckles near an island
07:34and the prism warps Sonic away
07:36without following him to that universe.
07:39Sonic gets sent to Shadow.
07:41I hate this stilted laughter right after he got warped away.
07:46I get to see Sonic smack his back
07:48against an arbitrary giant floating crystal.
07:50The story ends with Shadow saying that his home's gone
07:54because of Sonic
07:55and I get to see him rush towards him
07:57when he's scared and attack him.
08:00Too bad the story goes straight to a faraway camera angle
08:02and has a bunch of blue light appear afterwards.
08:05So it moves to the potential catharsis it could have gotten.
08:07Well, uh, at least it was good
08:10that the pirate Knuckles caught sails earlier
08:12proving that he does care about his crow now.
