00:00Sonic Prime, a madness to their methods.
00:05It starts in New York City where Rebel Rouge looks happy for once because the people around are enjoying themselves.
00:12The supposed kids playing with some garbage on the street for fun.
00:16Dread falls from the aircraft and Sonic slows down his fall and falls in a dumpster for his trouble.
00:22Good. I always have to just assume he survived falls like this because he had rings.
00:28It really drags things out and people get threatened with robots, including Knuckles.
00:34He won't say coconuts as a curse. That's lame.
00:38The story wastes time with the council bickering.
00:42If they're always going to be working together, there's no point in this.
00:46Somehow, Sonic's told by Rouge that he always makes things worse when he comes here to help.
00:53And she's not called out on being blatantly wrong.
00:57Despite the fact that he was nothing but helpful.
01:00There's more of a waste of time for a while.
01:03It's cool to see a normal guy shoot blue lasers at a robot.
01:07Knuckles rudely grabs Sonic and tells him to tell him where he came from.
01:11Why does he say he hates pirates as if he has a reason to have a uniquely huge hatred for them?
01:17He's never seen them before.
01:21The Rebels have the good sense not to trust Nine.
01:24So they don't want to help Sonic with his plan.
01:27Sonic wants to focus on finding the shards, but then asks why he's running into battle.
01:33What would really happen would be that he'd choose to help save these people without even questioning it because it's in his nature.
01:40If he did question it, it's not unforgivable.
01:43But he'd be like, it would make more sense if I didn't get involved.
01:48But who says I have to make sense?
01:51Conveniently when he saves these people who somehow stand still without even fighting.
01:57Rouge decides to follow Sonic to the council and insists on it despite the fact that now he's not okay with it.
02:04One of the Eggmen smartly says they should just get rid of Nine already.
02:09Which makes sense because he doesn't have the ability to help them out with anything else they couldn't do.
02:14So he's just redundant at this point.
02:17At least to their perspective.
02:19The other Eggman shows them they're harnessing the power of three shards.
02:24Why is he saying they're doing that as if it's any more impressive than what he did with that one?
02:29Of course he could do that.
02:31Wait a minute.
02:32Why don't they try to get him to tell them how he made those mechanical tails so they can take advantage of them?
02:40They use those shards to make a bigger robot.
02:43Wow.
02:44They made it slightly bigger.
02:46They would make a bigger robot anyway.
02:49How do they have no imagination?
02:52Fleetway Robotnik actually had an imagination with his reality changing power.
02:58This prism really can do anything the plot demands.
03:01You'd think one of them would wonder if it could do literally anything and at least try.
03:06The words paradox prism don't tell you anything about what it can do.
03:12It implies that it can do something related to time and space.
03:16But it's never used to time travel.
03:19No one even tries for some reason.
03:21But what does it have to do with paradoxes?
03:24This is the worst named magical MacGuffin in Sonic history.
03:28So it's lucky anyone even found out what it did.
03:31Knuckles saved someone from a train.
03:34Why does 9 just calmly say that this won't be enough to beat Sonic?
03:38He's had a hard life before this.
03:40Got lucky he even met him.
03:42And Sonic needed saving by him when he had to deal with a giant robot in the past.
03:479 gets taunted that he's stupid for wanting to have a friend.
03:51Which I guess is meant to give us the information that he's going to agree with him.
03:55Even though that's stupid because people should know that it's bad for your mental health to deal with loneliness for too long.
04:00And it's dangerous to have nobody you can turn to if you get hurt or sick.
04:04How did he know that he wanted to have a friend when he said earlier Sonic isn't my friend?
04:10He just assumes that he still wants a friend.
04:14Because he's upset that he wasn't his real friend.
04:17Why would someone think it wouldn't make 9 a real genius to want a friend when he was suffering from not having one his whole life?
04:27It's kind of sweet to see 9 smiling from the giant robot getting destroyed.
04:31Sonic saves Knuckles from another robot.
04:35And 9's told he has vision and imagination.
04:38But then he's told that maybe he does or maybe he's just pathetic.
04:42So he's so obviously trying to just manipulate him.
04:46The so called genius doesn't see through this after all the bullying he went through.
04:519 conveniently has the confidence to tell him off throughout uncreative years.
04:56When he can be shocked at any moment.
04:58But why does he have the guts to keep taunting him when he's being threatened with electrocution?
05:03How did he not end up shocked later on?
05:06He ends up accidentally giving him the idea that he'd have to think like Sonic to have a chance at beating him.
05:12There's no way he'd even say that.
05:14Because, in his opinion, he's the smartest person in the world, not Sonic.
05:20He has no reason whatsoever to think Sonic's smart.
05:24He had to save Sonic from a giant robot, which is usually his field of expertise when it comes to fighting it.
05:32Wouldn't someone pessimistic think that wasn't the exception that proved the rule?
05:37He was never told that Sonic was really smart when it came to beating giant robots and stuff.
05:44Why would he think that you had to think like Sonic to be able to beat him?
05:50When thinking like Sonic wouldn't have you be able to think of a way to beat him because Sonic doesn't know how to make giant mechas.
05:58Let alone one that he wouldn't be able to defeat.
06:02It would be blatantly common sense.
06:05As in, any idiot could think, make a robot that's made of material that he wouldn't be able to damage.
06:12Maybe it'd be better if he did come up with the idea and he just let 9 think he was responsible for it.
06:189 panics and regrets giving him the idea.
06:21It makes that version of Eggman look smart.
06:24But if he was really smart, he would have already known what to do himself.
06:29He tries to warn Sonic and gets spotted.
06:32And this time he gets in trouble.
06:34So what took so long?
06:36When Sonic hears 9's voice, he wonders why he talks weird.
06:40Talking in a weirdly stilted happy tone.
06:43Then he would have never thought it was really him.
06:46He should have assumed he was being given a deep fake voice of his.
06:50Because Eggman could make anything.
06:52I have to see Sonic have total faith that this isn't a trap and call him a nice guy.
06:58Even though he didn't want to help protect people in this city.
07:01I hate this version of Sonic.
07:04It's so disrespectful.
07:06It's not like they should never have him be flawed or make mistakes.
07:10But almost all of the times they do this with him on the show have been making him stupider than anybody could be for no reason.
07:17The story ends with him being faced with a metal Sonic.
07:20Except a blue screen with red eyes lights up on his head, which looks lame.
07:25And makes you wonder why that design choice was chosen the entire time.
07:29I don't know how anyone thought this was a good idea to go with.
07:34So because it's bad looking, it's just not worth it that it's a new design.
07:39I wonder if some people were trying to sabotage this show.
07:43Either because the writing sucks or because it's not exactly like the games to begin with.
07:48It's not impossible that some of the people working on any given alternate continuity of Sonic were game purists.
07:54This episode by Justin Penniston had Sonic and the Rebels fight some robots in the same train area as before.
08:03With nothing new being learned about this place.
08:07And then one of the council members has to trick Nine into giving him an idea instead of being smart enough to come up with Metal Sonic himself.
08:15Like Eggman did in every other part of the franchise.
08:18At least this is new, and because he's not literally Eggman, it props up the game when it's smarter than him.
08:25It's just another episode of the show that's just a little boring because it's got no creativity.
08:30And there's nothing about the plot that the games haven't already done.
08:34It keeps itself engaging with the way it does its action scenes.
08:38But Sonic Boom had a bunch of times where it had something creative happen with them.
08:43And it had better looking robots.
08:45Because usually it had robots that looked like these.
08:49And you never knew what kind of plot you were going to get from it.
08:52And it was usually something new.
08:54I knew.
