00:00Out of the egg, it's going to be a totally reborn Falcon, hatching out much newer and cooler than its first birthday back in 63.
00:07That's the grand plan here at K&N, the place to put the K and the N into being the kings of air filters, the place where our 63 Falcon is taking flight.
00:16That's right, K&N and Dearborn Classics are joining our crazy club, where the owner gets tricked and the car gets tricked out.
00:22This is a 63 we know you'll want to see, right here on Overholland.
00:30I am Gasoline, that's right.
00:34I am Gasoline, that's right.
00:50Hey, I'm Courtney.
00:51I'm Chris.
00:53And let's get right to it by checking out this guy.
00:55He's the proud owner of a tired old 1963 Falcon.
00:58He's our Mark, Travis.
01:00Now Travis' mom, Dee, is our insider.
01:02And trust me, this is the kind of partner in crime you want to have when your business is tricking and taking.
01:07Because this cool mom is a cop.
01:09All right, now Travis also wants to be a cop, so this kid is wise to the law.
01:13We're going to have to be careful and play our heist out just right.
01:17But luckily for us, he's also the typical 18-year-old boy, and he's left his car parked out on the street for a little too long.
01:23That's right.
01:24So Overholland's own Eric is going to play a grabby tow truck driver.
01:27He's going to tell Travis that he's the victim of a city ordinance that says you can't leave your ride occupying the same curb space for more than 72 hours.
01:37Here we are at the crack of dawn, ready to steal Travis' car.
01:41It's so early you can't even see.
01:43But once Eric gets the car in the flatbed, we are out of there.
01:47Good to go.
01:47The car arrives at K&N Filters, where the A-team is ready and waiting.
01:58Travis, say goodbye to your old baby.
02:03Check out the faces on the A-team.
02:05They're all looking at the Falcon.
02:06Mines are turning, especially Fus's.
02:08So while the gang gets the goods off the flatbed, let's meet the team that's going to make all this possible.
02:14Kirk Heinbuck is here from Summit Racing.
02:16Shane Goulet is also part of our large and expert A-team.
02:19Our K&N 7 includes top builder Jim Lunger.
02:23John Hudson is also here from K&N.
02:25Brad Beltnick is raring and ready to get going.
02:28Chris Bennett is going to help out this old and very needy Falcon.
02:31Kirk Swanson is another car whiz from this mecca of ultra-fine air filters.
02:36Pro-car dude Shane Reichardt is prepared to work all day and sleep never.
02:41Team K&N is rounded out by Dave Shushariba.
02:44On board as always, project manager Craig Chaffers is keeping our busy schedule on schedule.
02:50And team captain Chip Foose is here to redesign Travis's Birdmobile into one super and sought-after 63.
02:57Now, about the car.
02:59The Ford Falcon was built from 1960 through 1970.
03:02During those years, the car came in a lot of different shapes and sizes.
03:06Many of the Falcon design elements and chassis pieces were used to build the original Ford Mustang.
03:11The Falcon is a classic today, deserving to be known for more than just a practice run at the Mustang.
03:16And when Travis's 63 is finished, you're going to see why.
03:21Now, these guys can't wait to get their hands on this car, eager to see the hand they've been dealt.
03:25There's a few dents, and there's some rust that's showing through the paint.
03:31This is also the time when we get to go through Travis's car.
03:34Dude, Travis.
03:38Snooping through his stuff.
03:40This, I guess, is the symbol for the Legends Car Club in Pomona, California.
03:44And getting hints about his personality.
03:46The bumpers are going to need some love, major love, once Chip decides what he wants to do with them.
03:54Speaking of Chip, it's time for our strategy meeting so we can see what the Foose Meister has in mind.
03:59And alarm.
04:02Does anybody want to volunteer for body work?
04:04I love doing body work.
04:05You love doing body work?
04:06Yeah.
04:07With me and Shane and, you know, tackle some, quite a bit of stuff today.
04:11Body mods, does anybody want to tackle rust repair?
04:13I'll cut out rust.
04:14You take it off, you've got to look back.
04:17The bumpers.
04:19Materials, Ray.
04:20I have some parts coming from Dearborn Classics.
04:23Dearborn Classics.
04:24Now let's take this beast to the dino and see what she does.
04:27You're a dino-in, huh?
04:28Yeah.
04:29There you go.
04:30Okay, here comes Chris and the Falcon.
04:31I'm going to see if I can hitch a ride to the dino.
04:33We're going to see what this lady can do.
04:35The dino's going to give us all the stats.
04:38We don't know what to expect from this old Falcon, but we're not expecting much.
04:4263, 4 Falcons.
04:43What are you thinking?
04:44I'm thinking 85.
04:47Okay, here we go.
04:55Stay down there.
04:5648.9.
05:02Captain Kirk, what are your thoughts?
05:04She needs some help.
05:05She needs some serious help.
05:07All right, time to stop dead in our tracks.
05:09We can mention a few guys who are making all this happen in a big way.
05:12Yeah, with Doug Starbuck on paint duty, Ray Miller doing the interior, and Gary Fisher
05:16from Safe and Sound, we have a squad that just can't miss.
05:20All right, thanks for your time.
05:21Now back to the action.
05:22Okay, so this is Dee, Travis' mom.
05:25First of all, what emotional state is he in right now?
05:28He's a total wreck.
05:30He called his girlfriend and told his girlfriend.
05:33He went down to the police department to try to find his car.
05:36Of course, the police department didn't have any information on it, so he doesn't know what's
05:40going on.
05:41Now, he's an Overhaaland fan, or he's seen the show?
05:43Yeah, he's seen the show a few times.
05:44Do you think he'll have any idea, though, that Overhaaland swiped his ride?
05:47Oh, no.
05:48Oh, no.
05:48He's just really, really upset right now.
05:51It hasn't even crossed his mind.
05:53I had heard that he wanted the car to be a satin blue.
05:56Suede blue.
05:56Suede blue?
05:57Yeah, he's colorblind, so he can't see tans and greens real well, so blue is always his
06:03favorite color, because that's a color he can see real well.
06:06What are his other hobbies?
06:07He's got a poster of Jimmy Dean in his room, and he kind of wears tight white t-shirts.
06:13Like James Dean used to, and the chain that goes down.
06:16He's total old school.
06:17Does he cuff his pants?
06:18Yep, he's old school.
06:19Oh, and he wants to be a police officer like you.
06:21Yes, he does.
06:22When he's 21, he wants to go join LAPD.
06:31All right, I don't know if the guys from Safe and Sound are going to be able to top what's
06:34been done in this car already, but as you can see, there's some pretty tech sound baffling
06:38equipment here.
06:39It might take a little while to uninstall this.
06:41Everything about this car is corroded, rusted, old.
06:46We found a little gold mine full of stuff back here, including a lot of creepy crawlers,
06:49so guarantee when we give you the car back, you'll be the only living thing inside.
06:55Thanks for nothing.
07:00Travis has a coffee can holding up the air vent blower motor.
07:03On top of the car being old and corroded and rusty and junky, it's rigged with stuff like
07:09this.
07:12Travis, we're going to make these things so cute you wouldn't recognize them.
07:16It's my favorite part of the show, once again, when we get to mess with the mark.
07:26So let's give Travis a call and see what's what with his missing vehicle.
07:30Hello?
07:30Yes, may I speak to Trevor?
07:33Travis.
07:34Oh, Travis.
07:35I'm sorry.
07:35I'm sorry.
07:36This is Detective Alan Hagberg.
07:38I'm with the Auto Theft Task Force.
07:39I understand that you had a vehicle towed this morning.
07:43Yes.
07:44Came out this morning to go to work and there was a tow truck there.
07:46They said they were on city ordinance to tow the car.
07:49I didn't have time to sit there and talk to them about it because I had to go to work.
07:52I went into the police department today and I said, this morning my car was towed because
07:56there's somebody I can speak to about that.
07:57And they said, we don't have anything on record about your car.
08:01And I gave them the name of the towing company and they said, we don't use that towing company.
08:05Okay.
08:05Yeah, that's probably actually why they called me.
08:08Tow companies won't report it to the police department for about 48 hours so they can drum
08:15up some charges, storage fees.
08:18It was drivable though, right?
08:19Oh yeah, the car works totally fine.
08:21It was just, you know, I mean, I want to fix it up because it's, you know, it's still
08:23kind of, it looks the same way I did in 1963.
08:26So I want to throw some new paint, some new interior, things like that.
08:29But it runs great.
08:30Yeah, I just finished refurbishing a Mustang actually.
08:33So I kind of.
08:34Oh yeah.
08:35Yeah.
08:35See, it looks like, you know, with my Falcon, you know, it's the same thing basically.
08:39Okay.
08:39Well, let me see what I can do here and I'll be, I'll be in touch.
08:44Nice kid.
08:44Yeah.
08:46Another one bites the dust.
08:51To convey his detailed ideas, Chip renders a detailed sketch of the interior for inside
08:57man, Ray Miller.
09:00Yeah, what I want to do is leave that steel dash in there and paint it all blue to match
09:06the car, but do a white insert in there.
09:08That's the letter.
09:09Once Chip's satisfied with the interior sketch, he dives right into the exterior design.
09:17Inside and out, front to side, who soon has his designs fully laid out?
09:21When we come back, Travis's girlfriend is clued in to our little game.
09:36On day one of the overhaul and build, we staged a tow-away of Travis's 63 Falcon.
09:53Later, we talked to him on the phone, letting him know we were from the automotive task force,
09:57a group claiming that his towed car probably shouldn't have been towed.
10:01Well, more on that as the plot thickens.
10:02And now, as Everlovin' Day 2 begins, we have a car that's pretty much torn apart,
10:07which can only mean one thing.
10:08What's that, Chris?
10:08That we have a car that's pretty much torn apart.
10:10So we can't exactly walk away from it now.
10:13We've got to take this mess, mess with it even more.
10:15So A-Team, on with Bruns.
10:16Woo-hoo!
10:21We want to narrow the rear end so we can put a wider tire in the back.
10:25So we need to call Diffworks with the measurements.
10:27And so we're going to do that right now and figure out how narrow we want to make the rear end.
10:33But the pros from K&N have more deconstruction ahead before they can get those measurements.
10:40And once that is done, it's time to start tearing apart the front.
10:44Pretty much after 40 years, everything's stuck together.
10:50It doesn't really want to come apart.
10:51So we have to beat on it with our big hammer.
10:57Easy as pie.
10:58So while this Falcon is in the air, John takes a big old blade and slices out that stock and stubborn exhaust system.
11:04Okay, it's morning day two, and I'm here with Travis' mom, D.
11:12And I understand that he told you about the phone call I had with him yesterday.
11:16Yeah, as soon as I got home, he said,
11:19Mom, Mom, guess what?
11:20A detective for a multi-jurisdictional task force of stolen vehicles called me.
11:26And I talked to him.
11:28I told him all about what happened to my car.
11:30And he's on it.
11:31So he's totally buying it.
11:32Oh, he's totally bought it.
11:33D, what do you think his reaction's going to be in the end
11:35when he sees this brand new 62 Falcon completely made over him?
11:39There is no doubt in my mind that he will drop to the ground and cry like a baby.
11:44I can't believe that.
11:46Travis' girlfriend is here.
11:48She's standing right outside.
11:48She has no clue what's going on.
11:50That's right.
11:51Nicole knows nothing until we bring her into our secret and mysterious world known as overhauling.
11:56And you're on a show called Overhauling.
11:58And the state of her shock is only multiplied when she sees the state of Travis' Falcon.
12:02In four words, she can't believe it.
12:12A 60-year-old car.
12:14All right, Nicole, give him some love.
12:16Say something to Travis.
12:17Travis, your car is here and it looks really jacked up right now.
12:22But it's going to be totally awesome.
12:25Of course, the car is a long flight away from the ideas that Foose has for the finished bird.
12:29So it's actually going to be like a two-tone blue?
12:32It's actually going to be three-tone.
12:33The top is going to be white and there's two tones of blue.
12:36I love that.
12:38I never thought in my wildest dreams that you guys would even respond and tell me that you would do this for Travis because he is such a good kid.
12:46He never gives me any trouble.
12:48He always does the right thing.
12:50And I'm just proud he's my son.
12:52And I can't believe that I'm even a part of bringing this joy to his life.
12:56It's Christmas time!
12:57The folks at Summit and Dearborn have lost their minds, handing over more parts than you can shake a dipstick at.
13:04Appliances, pieces, components, and manuals.
13:07Can't do a car without cats like these guys coming through.
13:11Travis, I think we've got some really cool parts here we're going to add on to this 347 the guys are putting together.
13:16We think we're going to top this off pretty nice.
13:18I think you'll be pretty happy.
13:21Okay, the engine's getting happy, but that body is in need,
13:24requiring a whole lot of sanding and grinding to get rid of all that rust.
13:29But alas, nothing can save these floor pans.
13:32They're so rusted out they've got to be cut out and replaced.
13:38So we're cutting out the old stuff.
13:40We can weld in some new stuff.
13:47Hello?
13:48Uh, Travis.
13:50Yeah?
13:50It's Detective Hagberg calling.
13:53How you doing?
13:53I'm doing real well.
13:55Uh, I actually have a little bit of good news for you.
13:59Okay.
13:59I got the information that these guys are actually kind of notorious for this.
14:04What they do is they make illegal tows and then count on the stupidity of whoever they're towing
14:12just to come down to their shop and pay the storage fees.
14:16Now, this is a little bit unusual, but I want to take these guys down.
14:23Definitely.
14:24And I need an insider to help me out with doing this.
14:29Now, have you ever had any experience in law enforcement?
14:33Um, well, my mom was a police officer.
14:35Um, I'm going to be starting the LAPD reserve program, um, sometime next month.
14:39I mean, I want to be a police officer, so...
14:41Now, would, would you be willing to do something like this for me?
14:44One hundred, one hundred percent.
14:46Okay, and the tow yard will be under our surveillance, so you won't be in any danger.
14:51If anything dangerous happens, we'll...
14:54I trust you guys, and if it is, I mean, it's a little bit of a rush, you know?
14:57I mean, I don't mind if I can handle myself okay, I think, so...
15:00Okay, then, so I will be speaking to you in the next couple days.
15:03Okay, thank you very much.
15:05You got it.
15:06Bye-bye.
15:06Bye-bye.
15:10We're going to go take this little baby out for a little spray-and-wash right now.
15:14And Nicole is going to help with the hose down.
15:17I hope this guy can kill me.
15:28Travis, this is the last time I'm ever going to wash your car.
15:39Day turns into night, but Shane has no intention of stopping.
15:43Hard at work, prepping those bumpers for Chrome.
15:45What I'm doing right now is I am getting ready to patch all these big, giant holes in the bumper.
15:51These were the turn signal holes here.
15:54And I'm going to cover those over and blend them in so you never know they were there.
15:58And then also these bolt holes.
16:00Good thing we're at a top machine shop like K&N.
16:03They whipped up patch panels for Shane to weld into the bumper.
16:08Well, it's the end of day two, going on day three.
16:11We've got the front end cleaned up here, ready to put some paint on it.
16:15I'm still waiting for the engine to show up.
16:18We've got the suspension to go on tomorrow.
16:20All right, well, we're just continuing to strip the body here of all the rust damage and the layers of paint,
16:30getting this thing ready for the booth.
16:31We're behind schedule, but it's nothing that we haven't seen before.
16:35So how many hours have you been working on this bumper?
16:4227.
16:4327 hours.
16:45And now it's on to the rear, where Shane has to weld on the mounting brackets and cut holes for the new exhaust tips.
16:51You sharpie lines.
16:53And here comes Troy from Ford Performance Solutions.
16:56Somebody order some horsepower?
16:57He's delivering a powerhouse that is going to give this Falcon some new wings.
17:02And you know it's got to be killer when you see the reactions from our A-team.
17:06Sweet.
17:07All righty.
17:08Yeah, baby.
17:09More than 48 horsepower.
17:11There you go, Travis.
17:13Clear?
17:14Great.
17:15There you go.
17:16The guys dive right in, hooking up that engine to our new Hughes transmission, test-fitting it all with the body of the Falcon.
17:26Soon, a big question pops up.
17:27Is it a fit, or will the body need to be reshaped to make room?
17:33Totally freaking sweet.
17:35Well, guess what?
17:36It fits.
17:37Man, does it ever fit.
17:38So, 40 hours later, Boulay has finished the bumpers.
17:46Ooh, nice tips.
17:49All right, Boulay, well, you've done amazing work.
17:51Now go to bed.
17:52Get to sleep.
17:54Coming up next, we get our mark out of the dark and into the park.
17:58On days two and three of building Travis's 63 Falcon, the four came further apart while the plots of the pranking multiplied,
18:16with the A-team working on the vehicle while we got on the phone and turned up the heat with our confused and trusting Mark.
18:22And now with day four out of the gates, we're not quite ready to spray on any color just yet,
18:27which brings us to one true fact about cool rides and completing the job.
18:31That's right, because here's the deal.
18:33Travis isn't going to get to paint the town with his car unless we get to town and paint his car.
18:39Well, Travis, it's morning of day four, and it's ready to go to paint.
18:43Since it's not quite ready for flight, the Falcon's being towed to Star Side Design, the home of top-notch, one-of-a-kind paint jobs.
18:52Whoa, not so fast into the paint booth.
18:59There's still some more body prep left to do.
19:01Okay, let's get going, guys.
19:04Let's get it going.
19:05Smoothing out rough patches, hitting the Bondo, and sanding it all down.
19:09That stuff's got to happen before the first shot of primer can be sprayed.
19:14They're removing the old rear end because Diffworks has finished making a custom rear end fit for Travis's Falcon.
19:22But when it comes time to install, the guys find out there's a problem.
19:30We're using the old shackles to put the new rear end, and the old shackles are not long enough.
19:39They're not going to work.
19:40Okay, now they have to reattach the old rear end.
19:43It's not the end of the world, but it is one more delay on the road to the paint booth.
19:47We're going to turn this phone prank over to Chip.
19:52He's going to call Travis and ask him why he hasn't come down to pick up his car yet.
19:56Hello?
19:59This is Travis?
20:00Yeah.
20:01Hey, Travis.
20:01This is Brock from Zavali Towing.
20:03Yeah.
20:04I'm making a courtesy call because I've noticed that you haven't picked up your car yet.
20:08No, I haven't.
20:09Nobody's called me back.
20:11This is the first time I've ever got a phone call from you guys.
20:13I don't know about that.
20:14I just know we've got to get cash from you.
20:16You know, your fees are really piling up here.
20:18I'd like to take care of this real soon.
20:20And we've got a daily fee that'll keep jacking up the price here.
20:25Yeah, that's what I figured because I have had a car towed before.
20:28That's $1,050.86 at this time.
20:31You know, I was looking at this.
20:32I saw it was a 63 Falcon.
20:34I knew the value wouldn't be much.
20:35And I didn't want to see you get in trouble and, you know, the value exceeding the car.
20:39Then that mechanic's leaning and taking it to auction.
20:41The car's worth $3,000, so I think I have a little bit of time.
20:44Okay, I wasn't sure.
20:45I just saw a 63 Falcon, and I knew it wasn't worth much.
20:48So you're looking at, it's almost close to $1,200 by Monday.
20:52Okay.
20:53Thanks, Travis.
20:55The foos is loose.
20:58Travis is calling right now.
20:59Can you read that?
20:59He's calling.
21:00He'll leave a message there.
21:01Hi, Detective.
21:02This is Travis with the 63 Falcon.
21:04Travis.
21:05Yeah?
21:06Detective Hagberg.
21:07So you got a call from the tow company.
21:10Yeah, I just got off the phone with him, actually, about 10 minutes ago.
21:13Can you tell me exactly what they said?
21:15Yes.
21:16They said, we're wondering why you haven't came and picked up your car.
21:20I said, well, you guys haven't called me.
21:21And how did he ask you for payment?
21:25He said, like, you need to bring cash.
21:26The only way you can pay is cash.
21:28What I need to do before we make the bust is have you sign a waiver.
21:33I'm going to have my partner meet you.
21:36Yeah, definitely.
21:36Anytime.
21:37Thank you, sir.
21:38No problem.
21:39Bye-bye.
21:39Bye.
21:42He's blinded.
21:43He's loving it.
21:43He's chopping at the bit.
21:44Meanwhile, the body work is finally finished, and the car rolls into the booth where it's
21:48taped up for primer.
21:49Here we go.
21:50First color primer.
21:51This star side team quickly throws on the primer and leaves the car to dry, so they can
21:55hopefully start adding color sooner than later.
21:57So while the primer dries, Chip mixes the two tones of blue, colors that are going to make
22:05this falcon into one eye-opening beauty.
22:09Hey, Travis, here's your colors.
22:11All right, I'm going to call Travis, tell him where to rendezvous.
22:18He's going to come over here and meet Detective Douglas.
22:2220 minutes later, Travis arrives at the rendezvous point.
22:25Detective Douglas, nice meeting you.
22:27Okay, you're supposed to sign this stuff up, right?
22:30Okay.
22:31He's blinded, hook, line, and sinker.
22:32Your guy's a definite talker.
22:34And you're sure this is something you want to do?
22:35Oh, 100%.
22:36I want to be a police officer and all that, so I mean, this doesn't bother me at all.
22:39This is great Joe, playing officer.
22:42Joseph Douglas is getting very into his role.
22:45Okay, I know he talked to you already.
22:47It's just, you know, off the record, if you don't want to do it, we're still going to
22:50pull it down.
22:50Oh, no, 100%.
22:51I want to do it.
22:52Travis stars in his eyes.
22:54So you want to be a cop?
22:55Yeah, LAPD.
22:56Huh?
22:57Yeah, that's, I mean, ever since I was a little kid.
22:59You get on the first one, are you still going to be driving that Falcon?
23:02Uh, probably.
23:03Because I still have got quite a bit of plans for it, and motor, and paint, and trans, and
23:07you know, want to get it real nice again.
23:10Cool.
23:10All right.
23:11Thanks for coming by.
23:12Thank you very much.
23:12Shaking his hand, sealing the deal.
23:15We have a go.
23:20All right, it's evening five.
23:22We're at Star Side Design, outside the paint booth.
23:24I think we should go in and talk to Doug and Chip, and find out what's going on.
23:29How you doing?
23:30What the hell?
23:31We've never found me yet.
23:32Chip, how you feeling?
23:34I should feel a little hungry, but the car's been great.
23:37So what's the total time on this process?
23:39It should be back over there about noon tomorrow.
23:42Oh, great.
23:43All right, you guys.
23:44We'll let you get on.
23:47The car first gets coated with a bright layer of white.
23:50Next, they mask it off where the black and first shade of blue will go.
23:56One thing that's unique about this job, they're hitting the interior with a gloss blue, while
24:01the outside gets a velvet matte finish.
24:03After this coat, heaters are put into the paint booth to help speed up the drying time.
24:07Foose knows how to catch some sleep whenever he can, but napping in his truck parked next
24:14to the paint shop is a little extreme, even for this guy.
24:17Chip just wants to be rested, ready to do whatever he can to move things along.
24:21It's 7.30, day six.
24:23We've been here for 27 straight hours, getting some color on this bird.
24:28We've got the top done, the dash, some interior colors.
24:30We're on the downhill slide.
24:33We get the outside done, and hopefully we make our delivery, as promised, by noon today.
24:39When we come back, the rush for that noon delivery.
24:54On days four and five of this overhaul and adventure, it was all about body work and,
24:58of course, leg work, as parts were brought in and brought over to Travis's needy and evolving
25:0363 Ford Falcon.
25:05And now as day six begins, here's a little fact that you've probably picked up on by now.
25:09We're building this Falcon in 105 degree heat.
25:12That's right.
25:13So if you happen to see an A-team member passed out from heat exhaustion, just throw some water
25:17down, step over him, and hopefully by nightfall, he'll be coming around.
25:20Early morning, day six.
25:39It's overhauling time.
25:41As they rush to finish the paint job, D stops by to check out the progress.
25:46He's going to totally freak out.
25:47Before long, it's time to tape and mask.
25:52Once it's all sectioned off, Doug hits it home with the other shade of blue.
25:57He'll probably sleep in the car.
26:02Hey, Doug, is this cheating?
26:05Well, in a sense it is.
26:06Infratech let us use some heaters, and we needed to get it dry so that it could go back
26:10over to K&N and finish the build.
26:12Whatever it takes to get it done.
26:23Well, what we do is we take the covers off to check out the foam, which we're going to
26:27replace all the foam, but you can see how it's been worn.
26:30Step one here for Ray, ditch the old foam, cotton, and burlap from the springs.
26:34Doesn't look too bad.
26:35Step two and a half, roll out the new burlap.
26:39Then Ray attaches the burlap as a barrier between the springs and the foam.
26:42It gets nice and sticky as spray glue holds the new foam in place.
26:49That pink foam is for shaping, creating a sportier design on the seats.
26:54Using the old seats as a guide, Ray cuts the new vinyl for the covers.
26:58The man then glues it all up to the leather from the guys at Keaston.
27:05Who knows how many steps later, Ray sews the pieces together to create the side of the seat.
27:14There you go.
27:17Over at Safe and Sound, Gary Fisher and the guys are making a console to hold all of the equipment
27:21from Planet Audio and JBL.
27:23So talk to us about what this tub is going to be housing.
27:27Well, this is what you're going to see when you first look in the trunk.
27:30You're going to see the subwoofer in the middle,
27:31and the amplifiers are going to be housed on each side.
27:34There'll be upholstered like the interior of the car.
27:35So when he opens the trunk, the first thing he's going to see is a 17-inch screen in this area,
27:40this opening here, and there's going to be a pair of speakers on both sides of it.
27:43So when the trunk's open, people can gather around behind the car and watch a movie, play games,
27:47stuff like that.
27:47And I'm sure they will.
27:48Yeah, I'm sure they will too.
27:49Very cool.
27:50This will be real cool.
27:53Finally painted and dry, the Falcon flies back to K&N,
27:56where the A-Team is ready to install a lot of stuff, including that new Ford engine.
28:01We're putting on the headers.
28:14Kirk's down underneath, putting the starter on.
28:16As soon as we get the headers on, that way Magnaflow can come in and hook up the exhaust system.
28:20The old inline-6 has been replaced by this new 347 Stroker V8 from Ford Performance Solutions,
28:25allowing Travis the goods to harness over 400 horses of firepower.
28:30Travis, I know you're never going to really see this part of your motor,
28:33but we just love to look at it.
28:35So I want to show you what you got rocking on the inside of your valve train system.
28:38That's all for you, buddy.
28:52Back from chrome, the bumper's hooked back up with the Falcon, and so do the tail lights.
28:56Okay, finally, we have everything we need to put that cool new rear differential onto the ride.
29:05And once it's on, this bird is going to be one step closer to taking flight.
29:13As any A-Team member knows, sleep is the exception, not the rule.
29:17And as we go into the night yet again, Ray's learning that that goes for the interior work as well.
29:23Well, Travis, this is your back seat.
29:25It's a big difference from what it was before.
29:28A lot nicer.
29:28We've got the blue trim that's going to match your car on the outside.
29:31Can't wait to see it when it's all finished.
29:35Coming up, one of the coolest tricks of the trade you're ever going to see.
29:47On day six, the paint on Travis's ride was finally matching Chip's incredible design,
29:56bringing us even closer to flipping the switch hooked up to the big machine known as the Reveal.
30:00Yeah, but slow down there, buddy, because before that can happen, we have to encounter day seven.
30:05That's the 24-hour period where all those finishing touches happen and can either make or break the whole operation.
30:11So let's get out our fine tools and detail it all.
30:16Oh, man.
30:17Once again, our insider D checks in to check out the progress.
30:24What do you think of the paint job?
30:26Oh, his favorite color.
30:28It's beautiful.
30:29So he's totally buying it.
30:30He has absolutely, absolutely no idea.
30:34He fell for this hook, line, and sinker.
30:37There's no way he knows.
30:38And he's had a pretty good attitude about the whole thing?
30:40Oh, oh, oh.
30:41He thinks going to do this over-and-de-covers thing is just like the best thing in the world.
30:45Right.
30:45It's like he's getting into law enforcement ahead of schedule.
30:49Excellent.
30:49So are you excited about tomorrow?
30:51I am.
30:51I can't wait.
30:51It's been a really long wait.
30:53Time for Ray to join us at K&N.
30:55Ray to put in all that cool new interior.
30:59Nice.
31:00Check it out, man.
31:01Travis, it's your custom interior, buddy.
31:03Beautiful.
31:04Show the folks the headliner.
31:12That's going to go in there like that.
31:13So you've got front and rear door panels that are completely custom as well, of course.
31:17With everyone working on the car, Ray has to squeeze in when he can.
31:21At the moment, he only gets a few minutes to install his customized headliner.
31:25Soon arriving, the dude's from Safe and Sound bringing in that radical new AV console for the trunk.
31:43And Ray looks it over, seeing what he has to do.
31:47The next step, shaping the box for the trunk of a 63 Ford Falcon.
31:51Slowly getting this to fit in the car after we left the other night.
31:55When the piece cured overnight, it kind of warped in three different spots in three different directions.
32:01So we had to try and get it to fit again.
32:09The chemicals expanded and contracted in the curing process, and it just gave it an odd shape.
32:14So it doesn't quite fit in there now.
32:15It just doesn't quite fit properly.
32:17The warping is serious, enough to have the guys wondering about the best possible remedy.
32:22To try to salvage this piece is going to take longer than just redoing it entirely.
32:25So what's our option now? You guys are going to build a new box?
32:27Yeah, our option now is we're going to build a new enclosure, we're going to build new trim panels,
32:30a new floor for the trunk, and we're going to get that done faster than it would be salvaging this.
32:35Whoa! Starting a new console in less than 24 hours? Madness!
32:40Meanwhile, the engine guys put the finishing touches on the new V8 Monster.
32:44Finishing touches needs to go on.
32:46John's underneath the car right now putting the starter in.
32:48I'm about to mount the ignition box on the firewall.
32:55We are putting some high-octane fuel in this high-performance automobile of Travis's.
33:01We're going to go drag racing tonight, Travis.
33:04Troy from Ford Performance Solutions stops by for the moment of truth.
33:07Oh, she's good.
33:27Beautiful piece of machinery, isn't it?
33:30Carson uses some old hardware to shape some new glass that's on its way into the Falcon.
33:35So we're going to score it, crack it, and get it fit for the car here.
33:40Carson scores it up on both sides.
33:42That's where the cut will go.
33:44Next, some alcohol makes it onto the seam.
33:48And then that's going to burn the plastic out through the middle.
33:51And we'll do that all the way around on the piece of glass.
33:54A little more alcohol, and the glass breaks off clean.
33:57And now we'll just take it to the sander.
34:07We'll clean up the edges, and we'll put it in the door and go from there.
34:11All right, Travis, hope you weren't too attached to your vent windows,
34:13because we got rid of them for you.
34:16Five hours later, the new materials have arrived for the speaker box.
34:19The team works like crazy to build the new unit and fit it into the trunk.
34:23Perfect.
34:24In hyperdrive, they cut holes, add foam, line it with vinyl matching the interior,
34:36and then finally set up the new JBL speakers.
34:41And when it's all said and done, it's time for a test.
34:44You ready to hear this thing?
34:45I want to hear how this thing sounds.
34:47All right, Travis, here you go.
34:48What are you doing there?
34:56What are you doing there?
35:04I got something in here.
35:06Watch her!
35:13He's got the spirit.
35:14This thing's rocking right in.
35:17There's not even a trunk or doors on this thing.
35:21Gary's right.
35:22The car's still in pieces, and as we work late into night seven,
35:25the A-team scrambles to get the car together.
35:33Get all the down in there.
35:35Safe and Sound is finally ready to wire and fit all that great gear into the trunk.
35:40Oh, that's tight.
35:40Yeah, but when Carson goes to install the rear glass, he finds a problem.
35:44But the rubber's the wrong rubber, so we've got to get another one.
35:46By tomorrow.
35:48And that delay means that Ray won't be able to install the interior until tomorrow,
35:52which is D-Day.
35:54Coming up, Travis learns just who's fooling who here.
35:58On day seven, it was a mad rush to install, polish, and flat-out finish this fancy Ford Falcon on time.
36:15And now as D-Day arrives, overhauling hopefully has the whole tricked-out part of the equation under control,
36:20because we are now deep and dirty into that all-important place where the owner gets tricked.
36:29It's 8.30 in the morning, D-Day.
36:32We've got a hell of a lot of work to do.
36:34Ray's just now starting to install his blue carpet, but why the big delay?
36:37They sent us the wrong rubber for the back window.
36:40Right.
36:40And we can't really finish off the back until we get the rubber and get the back window installed.
36:47Fair enough.
36:48Because in the meantime, there's plenty of other work left to be done,
36:51like finishing the assembly and putting all the rest of the details on this Falcon.
36:55It's noon on D-Day.
36:57We just got the back glass rubber.
36:58We're getting ready to put it in, and hopefully we'll get your car on time, Travis.
37:05Pretty good.
37:06And now with that glass in place, Ray can finally install his interior.
37:13But he's got to hurry, because it's already high noon here at Overhauling.
37:21All right, we're running out of time here on D-Day right now.
37:23The finishing touches are happening.
37:25Ray finally had a chance to work on his interior installation,
37:27and now we're just waiting on brakes and tires.
37:30Come on, guys!
37:31That perfectionist named Foose now wants the car to ride lower,
37:35so our pal Pop-Tart makes some last-minute adjustments to the suspension.
37:38And in the nick of time, the BF Goodrich tires arrive.
37:45And with the clock down to nothing,
37:47Wild Bill comes in and adds some precision pinstriping onto the Ford.
37:55All right, well, the wheels and tires finally arrive.
37:57The interior is in, and now it's time for us to go do a prank.
38:03Travis.
38:04Yeah?
38:04Detective Hagberg.
38:06How you doing?
38:07All right, kid, are you ready?
38:08Yeah.
38:09And I need you to meet my partner.
38:12We're going to meet him back at the same spot.
38:13This is going to be our rendezvous point.
38:15I'm currently surveilling the location, so I won't be there.
38:18But he's going to have an audio technician to hook up a wire.
38:22He's going to put what's called an earwig in your ear
38:24so that I can communicate with you.
38:27Okay.
38:27Okay?
38:28So you can make it over to that location by 10 after 5 at the latest.
38:32Yes, sir, I can.
38:33Travis gets there, but it doesn't bode well for his future in law enforcement because he's late.
38:38What time did Alan give you?
38:4110 after.
38:42Okay, we're running late here, okay?
38:44Joe gives our mark the bait money and tells Travis what he has to do during the sting
38:49as we watch from the safety of our hidden cameras.
38:53All right, Joe's out there setting it up right now.
38:55In a second, he's going to be wired up, and I'm going to be able to talk to him.
38:57Start messing with him a little bit.
39:00Travis, if you can read me right now, say yes, I can hear you.
39:04Yes, I can hear you now.
39:05All right, the caravan that's surrounding you right now is going to pull out of that location.
39:09Okay.
39:09You're going to wait two minutes after the last vehicle in the caravan in the parking lot
39:14where you are leaves that location.
39:16Okay.
39:16And by the way, I know you want to be a cop.
39:18Yeah.
39:18Don't be late next time.
39:20Yeah, this 60 was full of traffic.
39:22All right, I don't want to hear the excuses.
39:23Just don't be late.
39:24All right, sir.
39:24And with that, our posse is out of here.
39:30Ugh, but Travis jumps the gun and leaves too soon,
39:32forcing our cameraman to scramble into their hiding places at the location of the stand.
39:37Luckily, Travis remains clueless, and our prank is off and running.
39:41Can I help you?
39:41Uh, yeah, I'm going to pick up my car.
39:43Oh, we're closed. It's over.
39:44Closed?
39:45Yeah.
39:45It's late. Close at 5.
39:47You guys close at 5?
39:48When I called earlier, they said that they close at 5.30 or 5.45.
39:50Do you know if my car's here? It's a white 63 Falcon?
39:53Uh, maybe I don't know.
39:54This is where they told me, and I brought cash,
39:56because they told me that they wanted it to be...
39:58Stay here. Let me see what I got there.
40:00That's good, Travis. I got eyes on you, bro. You're just fine.
40:03Yeah, we got it.
40:04You got it here? Is it actually, like, here, here?
40:06No, I said we got it. It's here.
40:07Ask him to go over the charges with you on the invoice.
40:11Can you go over the charges? I want to see how much it is.
40:13Grand total of $1,198.
40:16Take the envelope out and hand it to him, and then back away.
40:20$1,200. Is that okay?
40:21Yeah.
40:22Yeah.
40:22Get down on the ground!
40:24Get down on the ground!
40:26Get down on the ground!
40:28Okay.
40:28The kid now gets the chance to figure it all out.
40:31That is, if he recognizes Courtney.
40:34You don't let go?
40:35No.
40:36Travis, you've been overhauled.
40:39Oh, s***!
40:43You're good! I've been overhauled!
40:45Oh, jeez!
40:46Hey, man. Congratulations.
40:47Thank you!
40:47How you doing?
40:48How you doing?
40:48Oh, man.
40:49How you doing?
40:49How you doing?
40:50It's going.
40:51Oh, thank you so much.
40:53Oh, my God.
40:54This is so amazing.
40:55Thank you so much.
40:57Wait till you see your car.
40:59You're going to die.
41:00I can't wait to see it.
41:01I really can't.
41:03Oh, yes!
41:06Oh, yeah!
41:07Yeah! That is so bad! Oh my God!
41:15Oh, it's my car!
41:17Travis, here comes lead builder Chip Foose.
41:19This is so awesome. Thank you so much.
41:21Thank you so much. I mean, I've seen the show and I love it. This is amazing.
41:25What do you notice?
41:27I mean, I notice the emblems upside down, the chrome striping's all the way down,
41:31different wheels, I mean, the two-tone paint, the interior.
41:35This truly grateful guy is clearly eager to thank everybody here.
41:40Thanks. I love it, guys. You did an awesome job.
41:42Recognize it.
41:43Thank you so much.
41:44You're welcome.
41:45Oh, man. This is so great.
41:50Oh, man.
41:53Falcon Parts, Dearborn Classics, and countless others,
41:56they all put a lot of love and a lot of gear into one now cool and custom classic.
42:00And as Travis pops the deck lid, it just keeps getting better.
42:11Yes!
42:12Also a part of this baby, that power from Ford Performance Solutions,
42:20a huge performance transmission, exhaust thanks to Magnaflow,
42:24one very special interior thanks to Raymond Miller custom upholstery,
42:28and the paint job of paint jobs and star side design.
42:32This is a beautiful, beautiful paint job, one of the nicest I've ever seen.
42:37JBL.
42:38Oh.
42:41A gas cap that works at all.
42:44Wow.
42:45Safe and Sound packed it together with JBL, Crutchfield, and Planet Audio,
42:49making a party out of a Falcon in record time.
42:53What do you think?
42:55It's beautiful.
42:56Are you gonna let me drive it?
42:57No.
42:58Come on.
42:59No.
43:11So with an incredible custom ride at his fingertips, Travis says it like he means it.
43:16My name is Travis, and I've been overhauled.
43:18Wee следs.
43:19Woohoo!
