00:00Who has the answers to solving West Indies cricket?
00:03The price climbs higher for the man with the answers.
00:06Performances by the West Indies cause worry from the youngest to the oldest of cricket fans.
00:11Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport David Nackett believes Caricom has a role to play towards a solution,
00:17but he thinks there is a need for a change there too.
00:20I think Caricom made a big mistake in giving that to somebody who was just a titular head of Caricom leading the charge.
00:29Nothing has been done, nothing has changed.
00:31Things have gotten worse given the results that we just saw against Australia.
00:37So I think we need somebody who is knowledgeable about the sport,
00:41somebody who wants to make a serious concerted effort to improve West Indies cricket
00:47and not somebody who is just interested in having photo ops with West Indies players.
00:52He believes players are retiring too early and it's unrealistic to think that the West Indies can have a sustainable plan
00:57when players lack loyalty.
00:59It has to be somebody who has a plan and a vision for West Indies cricket
01:02and to change the culture around the mindset around cricket, especially test cricket.
01:07I mean, you can't have players, our best players, retiring in their 20s
01:11and hoping to have a sustainable program.
01:14We can't.
01:15You know, the player pool is not that large for us to have our best players leaving the game that early.
01:21Speaking on football and the use of the name Soka Warriors,
01:24Naked continues to urge the parties involved to come to proper reason for the benefit of the national team.
01:30Well, I think it's a name that the people of Toronto have grown accustomed to.
01:34It's a name they love.
01:36To be honest, it's a name that embodies us as a people, Soka and the culture and the warrior part,
01:44which we want to see a little more of rather than more Soka, we want to see more warrior.
01:49And I think for sure we're going to find a solution because both parties have been quite cordial
01:56and they too want to find a solution in the interest of the people in Toronto.
02:01We have a World Cup right on the corner.
02:03Sergio Dufour, TV6 Sport.
