00:00The pain and embarrassment still runs deep 24 hours after the West Indies sunk to another
00:23low against Australia in Jamaica.
00:26The pain wasn't only felt among the fans by the President of Cricket West Indies as well,
00:31as Dr. Kishore Sharlow expressed his feelings.
00:33In his official statement, he said, open quote, like every West Indian cricket fan, I felt
00:38the pain of our recent Test defeat to Australia.
00:42The results hurt deeply, not only because of how we lost, but because of what West Indies
00:47cricket has always represented to our people, pride, identity and possibility, close quote.
00:54But words alone are not enough to comfort fans after the West Indies set the second lowest
00:59test score in history.
01:00As such, the President has convened an emergency meeting to review the failed Test Series against
01:06Australia, in particular the last match.
01:09And he has invited former West Indian batting greats Clive Lloyd, Vivian Richards, Brian
01:14Lara, Shivner in Chanderpole and Desmond Haynes to serve on the committee.
01:19Whether that would prove effective will be left to be seen, but some have called for more
01:23drastic changes.
01:25Yet, President Sharlow says now is not the time to turn away, but to stand even closer
01:30as a people.
01:31He points to the bowling department as a sign of encouragement, but begs for patience in
01:37what he says is a rebuilding phase.
