The pain and disappointment is still fresh for many.

Even 24 hours after the West Indies bowed out to India in the T20 world cup.

As expected the reasons for the defeat will continue to be scrutinised and nitpicked.

While the captain Shai Hope is willing to accept responsibility, he believes the West Indies can go home with their heads held high.

00:00Yes, I'll take the blame if that's what you want me to say.
00:03I should have batted a lot faster, that's what you sort of wanted me to say.
00:06But in situations like this, when you're struggling, everyone struggles.
00:11But like I said, I don't think I was batting badly, it's just I was hitting the feelers
00:15and then trying to play the situation a bit more.
00:17Obviously, I want to bat a little bit deeper into the innings
00:20and face most of the spin threat in the middle.
00:23But I just didn't get going today.
00:24But yes, I'll take the blame, so that's what you want me to say.
00:27To be fair, the blame rally wasn't with a skipper or any one player in particular.
00:32Granted, he batted slower than usual.
00:34Hope attributed the performance and defeat to a different detail.
00:38Execution was the biggest thing for us.
00:41Today, we didn't execute as well as we wanted in the ball player from the batting side, as you say.
00:46But I must always take the positive from something.
00:50You know, we were 45 down, Chase coming in for his first game opening.
00:53Came in, played really good innings.
00:55So, like I said before, you've got to make sure that when you're making decisions like that,
00:59that, you know, have some foundation to back it.
01:02With the playing conditions being a massive factor in matches,
01:05Hope admitted to one area he has been poor.
01:08When you're playing like games, chasing is always the better thing to do,
01:12especially when you've got due factor to contend with.
01:17I don't think I could win a toss.
01:19So, I'm always giving the guys the hard way out of it.
01:23I don't think I want to toss this tournament.
01:25One?
01:26Okay.
01:27Probably before that, the rest of the series, maybe one or two.
01:30So, I think I'll have six tosses in 30, 35, 40.
01:35Yeah, so that always putting me on the back foot.
01:37Not many believe the West Indies were genuine challengers going into the tournament.
01:42And despite not going all the way,
01:44Hope placed the West Indies World Cup campaign into perspective.
01:47You can pick the entire tournament down.
01:50There's always some way you can improve,
01:52but there's always a lot of positive that you can take from it.
01:55So, let's leave on the positives.
01:58Hetty played a really good tournament.
02:00Matthew Ford, Newball, Akeel, Moti taking his wicket.
02:04Sheppi with a hot trick on the fiver.
02:06There's so many things that you could talk about from this tournament.
02:09So, I thought the guys represented the region well.
02:13And I think we all could go home with our heads held high.
