00:00People are arriving at guest houses only to realize that the person they paid have no affiliation with the hotels.
00:11We have a new airport that will be open soon, and we see this as giving the police the edge on security.
00:21And we intend to do an eagle-eye project in Tobago, which was done in the North Central Division, where most of the Tobago businesses, we want them to have their cameras.
00:37And then we would have a feed in one of our police stations to view those cameras, which we think will assist us with gathering evidence when a crime occurs.
00:50Senior Superintendent of Police Earl Eli during a media conference said some growing trends in AI are concerning.
00:58As officers, we recognize the growing trends in AI, and it concerns us.
01:05So we see the need basically for us to be prepared, even more than we are, to treat with it.
01:11We see the prevalence of deep fake videos, and we know the impact that that can have on the public
01:16in terms of creating negative images about persons, spreading bad information, negative information.
01:24So what it does for us, it tells us we need to be more careful in forming conclusions and making final decisions.
01:34And so again, this course this morning will really open up the eyes of the officers
01:38and creating them that capacity to deal with this trend that is AI.
01:45This initiative was made possible through the sponsorship of Jade Monkey Bar and Casino,
01:50through GNC Labs, specializing in artificial intelligence training and consulting.
01:57Founder and manager of GNC Labs, Jared Lanus, said,
02:01no greater group needs to be highly trained in utilizing AI than the police service.
02:07In the same world where the police are not yet universally AI literate and using AI,
02:13the criminals are becoming AI literate.
02:17People are using AI for evil purposes.
02:20So what we are trying to do, and what we're going to do this morning,
02:24is to start the process right here in Tobago of empowering law enforcement with the context,
02:31more so than the knowledge, the context and the skills,
02:35to push back against emerging threats that are powered by AI
02:41and to use technology to deliver better service to the people of Tobago.
02:48The workshop was crafted to empower officers to utilize their existing cell phones
02:53and computers across all facets of police work,
02:57from day-to-day policing and administration,
03:00to sophisticated data and intelligence analysis.
