00:00The objective of this exercise or operation is to try and bring the crime situation in
00:05Tobago under control.
00:06You know, we are aware of the unprecedented amount of murders and the unprecedented amount
00:11of shootings and gun-related incidents in Tobago.
00:15And my information is that it all stems from the illegal drug trade.
00:20Senior Superintendent of Police Earl Eli said there is also the fight for turf in Tobago,
00:27with some drug blocks profiting.
00:29As we know, the blocks are very, very profitable, right?
00:36You have different types of marijuana that is sold on the ground with one kilo, two kilos
00:40properly distributed.
00:41You can become a millionaire overnight.
00:45And hence the reason for the increase in violence is basically for control over the drug turfs.
00:51Officer Eli is pleased with his meeting with Chief Secretary Farley Agustin and Assistant
00:57Commissioner of Police Oswin Subaru.
00:59And I must say that the Chief Secretary is definitely on board in the fight against crime.
01:04He pledged his total support for us in whatever way that we need that support, and I am confident
01:11that he will keep his word.
01:13So I look forward.
01:14I look forward to working with the Chief Secretary towards reducing the crime in Tobago.
01:21Officer Eli is giving the Tobago public the assurance that there is a new sheriff in town
01:27with over 30 years of policing experience.
01:32I'm not here to make any major disruptions with the way we police, but I'm here to add
01:41to what was already being implemented by my predecessors.
01:45The new top cops in Tobago plan to close down every drug block.
