00:00For the ladies now, despite losing the T20 series 3-0 to England on Monday,
00:05Western East coach Shane Dietz was pleased with the fight from his players in the final match.
00:10He sees it as a positive sign moving forward.
00:14Yeah, obviously the results weren't great, but I thought today we fought really hard.
00:19You know, we had five girls, 21 and under today, all playing major roles in the team
00:23and giving responsibility and, you know, they stepped up really well.
00:26Particularly Claxton Bogg, brilliant, I thought on debut.
00:30Winning the toss helps a bit too.
00:32We've lost two tosses the first two games, which were pretty crucial as well.
00:35So, yeah, I think overall, you know, obviously the results haven't gone well,
00:38but we're just trying to find some players who can step up at this level
00:41and come this time next year at the World Cup.
00:44Hopefully we've found a few and we're going to be real competitive.
00:47Regarding captain Hayley Matthews, Dietz says she is a world-class player.
00:51As such, he prefers to let her do things the way she does
00:55as long as she meets what the team requires.
01:00She wants to face every ball, bowl every ball and field every ball,
01:04so I don't have to say anything with her.
01:06She's got to keep her on the straight and narrow and out of trouble
01:08and, yeah, she leads from the front.
01:11That's why she loves being the captain.
01:13So she's got the freedom just to play her game.
01:16That's all we can do for her.
01:17She's just got to play and play her own way
01:20and she does that all around the world and she's world-class,
01:22so just let her go along.
01:24The less I say, the better, I think, sometimes.
01:26Kind of.
