00:01The West Indies have made it harder for themselves in trying to automatically qualify for the fifth overall World Cup on the African continent.
00:08This after losing the ODI series 3-0 to England recently.
00:12The attention switches to the T20 format starting Friday,
00:15and Windy's wide ball captain Shea Hope once is meant to learn from the defeat and focus on what's ahead.
00:20I would say we just need to adapt a bit quicker, assess the conditions and obviously play a particular situation a little bit better.
00:28But it's a different squad now, we have to put that ODI series behind us, take the learnings from it for sure.
00:37And then look ahead, we've got a new captain, some experienced players coming back into the T20 side.
00:44Regarding the opposition, Hope has utmost respect for the English.
00:48Like the Windy's, England have two T20 World Cup titles and they also won the series in the Caribbean last year.
00:53England's one of those teams who are always going to be coming at us and how we're going to stop them is the biggest question.
00:59So the conversation is going to be ongoing, it's not something that started last week or a month ago, it's been going for a long time.
01:06And yes, just make sure we're on top of whatever they throw at us and make sure we're ready for the challenge.
01:11Included in the West Indies T20 squadron all-rounders Jason Holder and Andrew Russell were the Jamaicans selected only for the England leg and not Ireland.
01:20According to Hope, the two are an asset who can share a lot with the team.
01:24For Jason and Russ, again, very experienced campaigners, they've done it all around the world.
01:33And having both of them in the team is certainly going to be a big, big thing for us.
01:38And having that experience, having that firepower, they bring a lot of knowledge to the team.
01:43So not just on the field, you know, the conversation that you'd have off the field, the learnings that you'd get from those two especially means a lot to the squad.
01:51Also with the side is another all-rounder in Romario Shepard, who lifted a maiden IPL trophy with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
01:59And he's someone Hope also welcomes for both the England and Ireland legs.
02:03But yeah, he's shown, you know, great, great, great skill over the IPL season and he's in very good form.
02:10Very happy for his success. He's one of those cricketers that whenever good things happen to him, he deserves it.
02:16So happy to see that success he's been getting over the last couple of months.
02:19And yeah, hopefully he's ready to go here in this series.
02:23The teams play three T20s with the venues being Chester, La Street, Bristol and Southampton on June 6th, 8th and 10th respectively.
