00:00The Australians were ruthless, which resulted in the West Indies being hammered 5-0 in the
00:05T20 International Series in the Caribbean. Even though the Windies posted in excess of
00:09200 on two occasions, the bowlers were unable to defend the total.
00:13So what does new West Indies T20 captain Shea Hope want from his team moving forward?
00:18Just being a little bit more consistent in all three areas. We either started well
00:22and then faulted in the back end or vice versa. When you're playing against quality
00:27opposition like Australia, you got to make sure you put your better games together. We know
00:30we're all human beings, you don't always get it right. But if you're playing against proper
00:34opposition like that, we really got to be a little bit more consistent in all three areas.
00:37But yeah, certainly, yeah, I would say we just have to be a little bit better and more ruthless
00:42when it comes to our all-round cricket. With the World Cup taking place in February and March
00:472026, the Windies have a few months to get things right heading to India and Sri Lanka.
00:52Despite the humiliation, Hope says his team has learned a lot from the Australians.
00:57I thought they executed really well, especially with the ball. You can see those clarity and plans
01:02that they would have had. And every single time they bowl in a certain situation of the game,
01:08you can see what they're trying to do. And the bowlers just executed a lot better.
01:11And the batters, they were always hitting that aggressive button. They were always coming at us,
01:16never allowed us to settle as a bowling group. Even though we got some wickets in the power play,
01:20in most of the games. But they just kept their foot on the gas and it was difficult to stop them,
01:24especially when you're playing on such a small ground and good surface like here in St. Kitts
01:28and Warner Park. The West Indies skipper is aware fans are disappointed with the team's performances.
01:34As such, he has a message for the people of the Caribbean. I just got to keep supporting. We're
01:38going out there trying to fight every single time, regardless of what the result is. We all want to
01:43win probably even more than you guys. So it's just one of those things where we're trying to get the
01:47formula right. And then when we hit that success button, we're going to keep pressing it for as
01:51long as possible. Next up for the West Indies is a three-match T20 series against Pakistan,
01:56with all matches in the USA. Hope says the West Indies have to put the losses to Australia behind
02:01them and focus on the contest against the men from the subcontinent. We've got our plans already.
02:06We're going to make sure that we're focusing hard on them. And the biggest thing that they keep
02:11mentioning is the execution. So as long as that execution is 10 times better, I'm sure we're going to win this series.
02:16Following the T20s, the Wendy's face Pakistan and three Wendy Internationals in South Trinidad.
