00:01The West Indies lost the opening T20 International to India in Lucknow by eight wickets,
00:06with Captain Sriya Sire getting a maiden turn for the home team.
00:09For the Windies, skipper Shea Hope hit 52, but it was far from enough.
00:13And speaking of Hope, he was disappointed, but was looking forward to a comeback in Game 2.
00:18It was certainly not up to scratch.
00:20When you come to India, playing in their own home conditions,
00:24you've got to play your best cricket.
00:25You know, they're a very tough team to beat, so you've got to make sure you have more rights and
00:29wrongs.
00:30And something that we didn't do well today.
00:33But the thing is, I know there are a lot of guys who've played here,
00:35whether it's in the IPL or previous tours,
00:38so we just need to use those experiences and find ways to get better comeback for me next game.
00:43The Windies were bowled out for 171, with Sheofine Rutherford top-scoring with 56.
00:49According to Hope, it was going to be tough for the bowlers to defend their score,
00:52but he was full of prayers for the left-handed batter from Guyana.
00:56Rutherford, he's been playing really well in this format.
00:58He's been playing some magnificent innings for us,
01:00giving us opportunities to defend.
01:03It's great to see him back in the runs.
01:05He didn't get many runs in the 0-day series,
01:07so it's nice to see him taking those boxes here in the 20 series.
01:11And with the ball, like I said before, when you only have 170 to defend,
01:17and the wetness comes into play, the ball gets a lot wetter,
01:21the surface is a lot more placid,
01:23so it's always going to be more difficult from a bowling side of things.
01:26Hope also felt the Indian spinners made better use of the conditions,
01:30compared to the West Indian slower bowlers.
01:32Southern wickets were shared by Namandir, Aksar Patel and Kuldi Byadov,
01:36whereas Akhil Hossein and Rosten Chase took one each for the Windies.
01:39I also felt when Indian bowl, their spinners got a lot more spin on the surface,
01:44something that we didn't really get a chance to extract,
01:46maybe because of the conditions, but yeah, like I said before,
01:49we've got to make sure we find ways to get better,
01:52because we've got to come back into the series.
01:53The second T20 takes place on Friday in Ranchi,
01:56from 9.30 a.m. Trinidad and Tobago time.
01:58Been out now on the Chiefs Export.
