West Indies captain Rovman Powell has put the T20 World Cup loss behind him and is looking forward to the bilateral series against South Africa, which gets underway on Friday 23rd August at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

00:00The Westernies face South Africa in their first T20 match since the World Cup with a bilateral series starting Friday in Taruba.
00:07Captain Ravman Powell is looking forward to building a side for the next World Cup in 2026 on the subcontinent.
00:13We try our best as a selection group to keep it as close as possible to those guys in the World Cup.
00:19Looking forward to 2026 for another potential T20 World Cup.
00:24It's also an opportunity for us to see other players, Ali Cantani, Fabian Allen, Matthew Ford.
00:31It's three of those players that we identify and it's for them to be given the opportunity
00:37and hopefully once they're given the opportunity they can grasp it with both hands.
00:42The Westernies were eliminated from the World Cup when they lost to South Africa in a do-or-die clash.
00:47Despite the outcome, Powell believes his team has the potential to shine.
00:51I think we played good cricket. We had a clean slate right through the preliminary stage.
00:58We faltered when we reached the quarter-final stage.
01:03Having said that, I think it shows that we're a quality unit.
01:07It shows that if we prepare well and if we have the right plans we can be successful at the international level.
01:12Rostan Chase is the T20 team's vice-captain, that being a new role for the all-rounder.
01:18But he is ready to handle that position.
01:20Cricket-wise, I'm very experienced. I think I'm a very knowledgeable person.
01:24Even before being the vice-captain, I think Rob Munn would come to me for a lot of suggestions and ideas.
01:30I just think it's a case where I just need to continue communicating with him
01:34and bringing my knowledge and experience to him to help us go out there and win games
01:40and fight through any situation that may arise.
01:42This is the second bilateral series both teams are playing this year.
01:46Prior to the T20 World Cup, the West Indies beat the Pro Teos 3-0 in Jamaica.
