00:01Several police operations across the country have resulted in the seizures of firearms and ammunition and multiple arrests.
00:08During Operation Resolute Shield Exercises in North Central Division, officers searched residents in La Pastora Village, Arruca, where they seized
00:17three shotguns. Two people were arrested.
00:20In the Central Division, officers searched a home in Edinburgh Village, shotgunners recovering a firearm and two rungs of .38
00:29ammunition. A 45-year-old man was arrested.
00:33And in the Port of Spain Division, police seized another firearm, two magazines and 19 rungs of .45 ammunition during
00:42an operation in Besson Street and Belmont areas.
00:45Meanwhile, in La Lune Forest, officers destroyed seven cannabis fields containing approximately 8,550 mature cannabis plants. Police estimate the
00:56street value of the plants at $8.55 million.
00:59Three dying racks and other equipment allegedly used in the cultivation and processing of cannabis were also destroyed.
01:07Police officers encountered a trench dug across an access road and several fallen trees, which obstructed their progress.
01:15Two trap guns were also discovered and safely disarmed.
01:19The operations formed part of ongoing police efforts to disrupt illegal firearms and narcotics activity across Trinidad and Tobago.
