A police officer is injured in a shoot-out with bandits, all of whom escaped,  eight suspects have been arrested for various offences, and one man is charged for stealing 40 dollars.

00:00In tonight's crime wrap a police officer was injured and a loaded firearm seized
00:05in St. Anne's on Wednesday. Officers of the Joint Operation Task Force were
00:10conducting a mobile patrol in St. Anne's when they received information of a man
00:15with firearms in Von Amann's Road, St. Anne's. They arrived to see a group of
00:20men fleeing towards a forested area. The group of officers gave chase and several
00:26loud explosions were heard. The police returned fire. They discovered that an
00:31officer was shot. He was conveyed to a medical facility to seek medical
00:35attention. A loaded shotgun was discovered at the scene. The men escaped.
00:40In Point Fort in a 43-year-old laborer has been charged with robbery with
00:44violence, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition following an
00:49incident in the area. In late February a man from Teeshere Village told police he
00:54was approached by a man known to him along the Teese Road close to a known
00:59bar. The suspect who was armed struck him on his neck and stole $40 before
01:04fleeing on foot. Days later officers spotted the suspect along a track at
01:09Calhoun Road. He attempted to flee but was arrested. A search led to the
01:13discovery of one black pistol, one magazine loaded with three rounds of
01:179-millimeter ammunition and a quantity of cash. He has been granted bail in the
01:21sum of $65,000. Seven suspects were arrested for various offenses including
01:27burglary and narcotics possession during anti-crime exercises conducted in the
01:32Southwestern and Eastern Divisions yesterday. Four were arrested for
01:37burglary in Cedros on February 21st. In the Sangre Grandi District, Eastern
01:41Division Task Force officers conducted an exercise at three known drug blocks.
01:46Three suspects ages 23, 28 and 47 all of Sangre Grandi were arrested for
01:52possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis and possession of an apparatus.
01:56And a 27-year-old Arima man has been arrested for three outstanding warrants
