00:05murder of a pensioner. 67-year-old mechanic Vernon Guishard's body was
00:11discovered in his yard along Lopino Road, Oruka, on Tuesday afternoon. According to
00:16The Express, Guishard of Blue Spruce Street, Pine Ridge was last seen around
00:208.15 a.m. Hours earlier, CCTV alert from his property was sent to his mobile phone
00:27showing an unidentified man walking around his property. Guishard forwarded
00:31the footage to a friend before heading home. His body was discovered around 4.15
00:36p.m. by a relative who had been asked to check on him by Guishard's son who lives
00:41abroad. The son had grown concerned after repeated calls to his father went
00:46unanswered. Police responded to the report found Guishard's body with a wound to the
00:51head. The murder toll stood at 203 up to last night compared to 303 on the same
00:58date in 2024. A 33-year-old man from Orupun Gardens, Piako, has been reported
01:06missing after leaving home to meet a friend in Arima on Tuesday. According to
01:10police reports, the man was last seen by his common-law wife, a 34-year-old
01:14resident of the same address around 4.50 p.m. when he left their home driving a white
01:22Toyota who reportedly had in his possession $25,000 in cash which he had
01:28collected early in the day from Scotiabank Intrincity after successfully
01:32securing a loan. He left home shortly before 6 p.m. with the cash to meet a
01:36friend and complete a transaction for the purchase of a TDAR vehicle from a person
01:41who identified himself as Michael. Around 6.30 p.m., efforts to contact him via
01:47cell phone were unsuccessful. The friend claimed that he had not seen the missing
01:51man and was also unable to reach him by phone. The man has not been seen or heard
01:56from since.
01:59Prominent attorney Martin George was granted $150,000 bail when he appeared before a
02:06master of the court today on two sexual offense charges. George, 58, has been
02:11charged with grievous sexual assault, an indecent assault stemming from a report
02:16made to police on March 22, 2025. The incident allegedly took place at George's
02:22Dondonald Street, Port of Spain, Lord Chambers on the same date. The complainant,
02:26also an attorney, alleged that she was assaulted during a meeting at his office.
02:30George was not called upon to plead to the charges which were laid
02:34indictably. He was represented in court by senior counsel John Heath. Senior counsel,
02:40Mesh Lawrence-Mirage, is also on record for his defense, but was not present at
02:45today's hearing. As part of his bail conditions, George must stay at least 500
02:50meters away from the woman and is prohibited from making any contact with her,
02:55directly or indirectly. George was arrested on Tuesday during a coordinated
02:59exercise by officers of the CID area east and taken to the Besson Street police
03:04station where he was later formally charged. George, who has practiced in both civil
03:10and criminal courts, is a former member of the Police Service Commission and a
03:14prominent voice on business and legal affairs in Tobago. The matter has been
03:19adjourned to October 7th. A 39-year-old man from Kokoreet was shot while walking in his
03:26community on Tuesday night. According to police reports, around 8.45 p.m. on July 8th,
03:31the man was near a dumpster in the area when he was approached by an individual
03:36armed with a handgun outfitted with an extended magazine. The assailant pointed
03:41the weapon at the victim, after which several loud explosions were heard. The
03:45victim fled the scene and later realized he had sustained gunshot injuries. The
03:50police and paramedics were notified and he was taken to the St. James Medical
03:54complex where he received medical treatment for wounds to the lower left
03:58elbow, left foot and leg. He was subsequently transferred to the Port of
04:02Spain General Hospital for additional care. Medical officers have listed his
04:07condition as stable. Crime scene investigators recovered five spent 40
04:11caliber shell casings and one live 40 caliber round. The suspect has been
04:17described as being of Douglas descent, approximately five feet, six inches tall,
04:22dark brown in complexion and was wearing a white t-shirt, black hat, dark blue
04:27three-quarter pants and slippers. Police have no motive for this shooting
04:31incident. BC Charles is continuing inquiries. Police are searching for two
04:38suspects who tied up and robbed a Penal doubles vendor. According to reports, the
04:4321-year-old woman of Clark Road Penal was in the kitchen area in the back of her home
04:48around 1 p.m. on Tuesday when two men dressed in all black and wearing ski
04:53masks entered her property. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and another
04:58was a Cutlass tied up the woman before demanding money. They proceeded to ransack
05:03the home and robbed her of $45,000 in cash, a quantity of jewelry, a cell phone and a
05:09black Toyota Revel Hilux registration number TDL 1724, which they used to escape.
