00:07seven police officers have been hit with criminal charges again. Last week, the officers were
00:12discharged in a case of alleged extortion at a Sangre Grandi business. Police now say they've
00:19relayed the charges against Inspector D.L. Ram Lakhan, Acting Corporal Shahid Khan, along with
00:26Constables Devanand Rangbir, Jason Osuna, Makai Joseph, Cleon Smith and Rayon Charles. They are
00:33charged with misbehavior in public office and conspiracy to pervert the course of public
00:38justice. On November 18th, a High Court master discharged them after the prosecution failed
00:45to comply with court directions. Now, police say the charges were relayed after discussions
00:51with the Director of Public Prosecutions. Police Commissioner Ola Herwood-Christopher says
00:56the relaying of the charges shows the police service's commitment to ensuring justice is
01:02served and that the TTPS will work closely with the DPP's office to ensure the proper
01:09determination of these matters.
