00:00Six people have been detained and some of the guns and ammunition stolen from within the San Fernando Municipal Police
00:07Station,
00:08where on-duty woman Police Corporal Anuska Eversley was murdered during the heist, have been recovered.
00:16Confirmation came from Police Commissioner Alistair Guevaro through a video and statement posted to the TTPS's Facebook page.
00:25We have left no stone unturned. At this present time, it's about 1.30 a.m. and I'm here with
00:31Inspector Wilkinson from the San Fernando CID and a small team of officers,
00:35where we have been able to recover what we believe to be a portion of the quantity of firearms that
00:41were stolen from the municipal police headquarters during the homicide of Corporal Eversley.
00:48In an 8 a.m. update on Monday, the TTPS said overnight, two municipal police officers, two females and two
00:56other males were detained and is in police custody.
01:00Also overnight, the Police Commissioner says a substantial amount of the stolen firearms and ammunition was recovered, 22 firearms and
01:08over 600 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
01:13The firearms include 10 M&P pistols, 10 Glock 19 pistols, one Browning pistol and one Smith & Wesson pistol.
01:23I just want to commend the officers for the excellent work that they have been doing and we have been
01:26pushing since that time until now.
01:30And we have other officers in other parts of the division at this point in line carrying out simultaneous exercises.
01:35In its statement, the TTPS says the investigation took a critical turn in the early hours of this morning.
01:42During a press conference on Sunday, the Commissioner called a murder and robbery at the police station,
01:48a one-off situation and isolated event with no information suggesting law enforcement was targeted by any outside party
01:58and asked the public not to panic as the state security apparatus is working and is strong.
02:06On Monday, he said investigations remain ongoing and are at a sensitive stage
02:12and reassured the public that all efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice.
