Assistant Police Commissioner Richard Smith said that police officers were at the various Ash Wednesday cool downs from as early as 7am.

Speaking during today's TTPS media briefing, the Gold Commander for Carnival also said the public should be the judge of the performance of the police today as well as during Carnival and the lead up to the national event.

Transcript
00:00I want the public to be the judge because they would have seen, they would
00:03have heard, they would have seen all the efforts that we put in place even prior
00:06to carnival, pre-carnival and even post-carnival. We have several events
00:11taking place as we speak at some of the cool down areas so we have
00:16officers out there from as early as 7 a.m. this morning maintaining order.
