00:00A visit to the Maloney Housing Development by the area MP Camille Robinson-Regis has been followed by a response
00:07from the housing ministry within 24 hours.
00:11Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Philip Alexander, told the development.
00:15We are here to follow up a video making the wrongs that the garbage is not being collected on time.
00:23Alexander says the Housing Development Corporation, which manages the development, is already working to improve the situation.
00:31They've had some weather challenges that has prevented the construction of the bins.
00:37So not all the bins. We have two fully complete bins and about four in varying stages of construction.
00:44But we are working together from today to make sure all the remaining nine bins will be completed.
00:59We're aiming before the end of this month.
01:01He also pushed back against what he described as an overreaction to the situation.
01:06He says the contractor remains active on site and that the work can be seen throughout the development.
01:12These residents are not separating bulk waste from normal garbage.
01:21And that's causing a challenge for the garbage contractor.
01:25That's something we need to sort out.
01:27We're hoping that when the bin goes in and the signs go up, the people obey the signs and separate
01:33what is bulk waste beds and washing machine and fridge and those things from normal bags of garbage.
01:40Bulk waste is collected twice a month, while regular garbage collection takes place three days a week.
