00:00Meet Annalie Edwards, she's got style and confidence
00:29and she'll be hoping to bring that at the Excalibur Cup in the United States on the
00:33weekend.
00:34She's confident about her chances and thanked her support structure including her coach
00:38Dale Alley at Olympia Wolfpack Gymnastics.
00:40Well I'd like to thank my coach, my coaches, being able to train as a team, a Trinidad
00:47and Tobago team, for this competition and I'd like to thank my parents for helping
00:52me through this and I'd like to thank God for contributing to what has happened during
00:59the past following weeks and months.
01:03It's been a battling journey for the athlete who overcame injury in 2024 to once again
01:08suit up for 2025.
01:10It's another chance for Edwards to make an impact after joining the sport.
01:14Well it started when I was, I would say about four years old.
01:21My cousin was doing gymnastics and I really looked up to her.
01:25So I started to follow in her footsteps and then I started to watch gymnastics on TV and
01:30I found out that I really liked the sport and I ended up joining the same club that
01:35she was in.
01:36Like most athletes, her dream is to go to the Olympics but she expects a tough time
01:41pursuing the sport while studying.
01:43My major goal is to go to college gymnastics but I also want to do Olympics as well before
01:51I go off to college.
01:52Olympic qualification, how old do you want to be attempting to qualify for the Olympics?
01:59Well the next Olympics, the next four years, I will be 17 so I hope to be 17 qualifying
02:06for the Olympics.
02:08You see yourself specialising in any of the disciplines?
02:13Bars, beams?
02:16Vault.
02:17Vault.
02:18Not floor?
02:19No.
02:20Why?
02:21Because I think vault comes very natural to me.
02:26Like I have a mature run up, once I have my run up on vault, everything just comes naturally
02:33once you have a good run up.
02:37Wooo!
