00:00 Kick It With Karen is back for a ninth time and the architect of the event
00:04 Karen Forbes is pleased to once again have it in her hometown of Plymouth
00:09 Tobago. I think this year each year so to speak it has been a building block and
00:16 this tournament I have learned a lot personally in terms from administrative
00:21 wise whether is meeting and connecting with different people that I never even
00:26 thought that I would have. Getting other teams to come to participate putting
00:31 together something like really organized it challenged me in so many ways and I
00:36 see some of my strengths which is problem-solving and innovation came
00:41 alive. The two-day tournament will be held on the 1st and the 2nd of June
00:45 Forbes believes while it can help to develop footballers there's so much more
00:50 that can be gained through community development. I think the villages
00:56 stigmatized with a lot of negatives and having this tournament I think is a
01:00 really great thing for people in the village to look forward to. I often have
01:05 a lot of comments from some of the villagers after like hey you know it's
01:09 really good tournament and they look forward to it and I think that's part of
01:15 my motivation in trying to put on the tournament every year you know trying to
01:20 create that positivity into the community because you know a lot of
01:24 people have said nothing good comes out of that but I have born and raised there
01:27 and I think there's a lot of the things that could come out from there. Forbes
01:32 has gone on to register the tournament as a non-profit organization and she
01:37 says that sponsorship has grown tremendously as the competition caters
01:40 for categories ranging from under 8 to senior open divisions. The top prize is
01:46 expected to be $12,000. The National Football Captain also indicated that the
01:52 Trinidad and Tobago Football Association has also lent their support by
01:56 involving two national teams. They have the G14 league, G15 and G15 league
02:01 this year and actually last year what they would have done they would have
02:06 cancelled all games just to ensure that these teams participate in my tournament
02:12 so I mean sometimes help doesn't necessarily have to be financial but I
02:16 think I have their best interests right now. For the future she's considering
02:21 bringing on international teams, more internships and encouraging scouts to
02:26 examine the talent in the tournament. Sergio Dufour, TBC Sports.
