00:03Janae Degans will be waiting for her time to shine in the long jump and 4x100 meters.
00:09So what can be expected of the junior record holder?
00:13I say great things. I'm just going out there to do my best.
00:16That's all I can do. So yeah, just expect Janae to do good.
00:22She's hoping to set a new personal best and junior national record
00:26by breaking 6.58 meters at the Pan Am Juniors.
00:29Degans has been doing strength training and working on her speed as she transitions abroad.
00:35It's been great. I've been enjoying myself at Baylor.
00:37I do recommend you all come to Baylor.
00:40Those are junior athletes who are looking to come to the United States.
00:44So Baylor is a good school.
00:46Meantime, Kenesha Shelbourne will be doing the triple jump for the Pan Am Under-23 competition.
00:52But she will also be competing at the Senior Championships.
00:55She's ready for both competitions.
00:57I feel prepared. I've been putting in the work, being patient.
01:02So we just wait and see what God has in store for me on that day.
01:07Both athletes look up to coach Wendell Williams as a father figure.
01:11Well, this season she has surpassed what she did last year.
01:19So she is now the junior champion.
01:22She is also the junior record holder.
01:25So that is a plus.
01:27And I know she's going to do well at the Senior Championship.
01:30So, yes, we're just looking forward to a good competition this weekend.
01:38I know I work a little with Janie.
01:42She's outside in Baylor.
01:44They're doing an exceptional job with her.
01:47So I'm just supervising what she's doing.
01:49And she's going to be doing well also.
01:52The weight of success may be heavy.
01:54But are they up for the challenge?
01:56I am taking a seat now after a hot day at the Hinsley Covenant Stadium.
02:00I got to see the athletes putting in their final work ahead of the Senior Championships of the weekend.
02:05I don't envy them.
02:06It looks like a lot of hard work.
02:08But they're doing it all for the fans and to set personal bests.
02:10As well as to represent Trinidad and Tobago on the international stage.
02:15And they're used at this event for different reasons.
02:17And we're looking forward to see them when they do perform on Saturday.
02:21I'm Sergio LeCoultre for TV6 Sport.
