CRIME WRAP: TEEN COUNTRY'S 4TH MURDER VICTIM

A teenager became the country's fourth murder victim on Tuesday night after he was shot and killed in a car that his mother was driving in Belmont.

00:08He has been identified as 19-year-old Nigel Lutchman from Upper St. Francois Valley Road

00:13in Belmont.

00:15Investigators told TV6 News that the shooting happened around 7.30pm along the St. Francois

00:21Valley Road in the vicinity of St. Bob's Road.

00:24The victim's mother, police say, was driving her black Toyota Acqua on her way home with

00:28her son, seated in the front passenger seat.

00:32Upon reaching the intersection with St. Bob's Road, police say a silver Nissan Tida vehicle

00:37also proceeding in the same direction pulled in front of her, causing her to stop.

00:42She was told to get out of the car by masked gunmen, but she refused to do so.

00:48Masked gunmen then opened fire on Lutchman, hitting him several times before escaping.

00:53Police say within minutes of the shooting, officers of the Port of Spain Task Force were

00:57able to capture a suspect from the San Juan area.

01:00Police are working on the theory that the shooting may have been gang-related.

01:04Images of Lutchman were later posted on social media, allegedly holding a high-powered weapon.

01:39his home shortly before 11 o'clock this morning.

01:43Police who were called to the scene said that the wife reported hearing loud explosions

01:47in the house while she was outside.

01:49When she arrived inside the living room, the retired officer was found lying on his back

01:53with a wound to the right side of his head and a black Glock 19 was found near his body.

01:59Inquiries are continuing into the shooting, but police have ruled out any foul play.
