Transcript
00:00Not far away from here about two nights ago, three men were shot and killed in
00:05what police believe was gang-related warfare. Last night, the wake was being
00:10held for one of these men when gunmen stormed the wake here along Serrano Road
00:14and shot and killed one man. The dead man was identified by police as 24-year-old
00:20Tariq Birch. Birch police say was gathered here at the corner of Serrano Road and
00:25Savory Terrace along with several other mourners when gunmen on foot stormed the
00:30wake and opened fire hitting Birch several times. Many other people were in
00:36this clearing scattered as gunshots rang out. Investigators told TV6 News that
00:41Birch was the intended target as they believe he would have provided
00:45information for a rival gang in the shooting deaths of the three men who
00:49were killed on Belmont Circular Road near Willis Street in Belmont on Wednesday
00:53night. The three men who were killed on that night were identified as 21-year-old
00:57Josiah John, 22-year-old Kadeem Andrews and 28-year-old Arjunal Pong. Senior
01:04investigators say these men were affiliated with the Six Gang. They say
01:09based on information they received, Birch may have provided information about their
01:13whereabouts to a rival gang minutes before they were shot and killed.
01:17Officers of the Special Intelligence Unit continue to closely monitor this
01:21situation as they attempt to gain a handle on this upsurge in gang violence.
