A Morvant man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday night.



Police say the incident occurred at the corner of Mon repos and Laventille Extemsion roads, Morvant just after 10pm.

00:00A Movar man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting last night.
00:03Investigators say the victim was identified as Ian Charles, alias Flossie.
00:08Police say the incident occurred at the corner of Monrepoe and Laventille
00:12Extension Roads in Movar just after 10 pm.
00:15Charles was standing outside a parlour when gunmen in a vehicle drove past and
00:19opened fire, hitting him multiple times. He was shot
00:22in the face and chest and he died on the scene. Police say they will be
00:26relying on CCTV camera footage that was recently installed in the area
00:30with the hope that the shooting was captured by the cameras.
00:34Charles' death has taken the country's murder count for the year
00:37to 366 in comparison to 345 for the corresponding period last year.
00:45Police are also investigating the murder of Garnett Sidney
00:48who was also shot dead last night. Police say 29-year-old Sidney was in a shed in
00:54front of a bar the corner of Dades Trace and Taberkeet Road in Rio Claro
00:58around 10 o'clock when a man armed with a gun alighted from
01:01a green Nissan B13. Investigators say the masked gunman
01:06approached Sidney and shot him at point-blank range before escaping.
01:10Sidney died at the scene. Police officers on patrol say the green car of the
01:14shooting was found a few minutes later but it was abandoned.
01:17The search continues for the killer. In that same area another man, Carlos
01:23Modest, was shot in his head last Saturday night after meeting a man to
01:27collect money. Police are also investigating the
01:31death of a pensioner found at her Maravao home on Tuesday evening.
01:35Police say 65-year-old Anjani Lachman Isidore was found lying on her kitchen
01:40floor with what appeared to be a wound to her
01:43head. Relatives told police they had been trying to contact her for some time now
01:47and got no response. Police suspect foul play in her death
01:51but will await the results of a post-mortem
01:53to determine exactly how she died. A 27-year-old labourer at the Port of
01:59Spain Corporation was shot on Tuesday morning in El Socorro.
02:02The victim told police that he was walking with a group of friends
02:05when they heard several loud explosions. The 27-year-old
02:09then felt a burning sensation on his left calf and fell to the ground.
02:14His friends took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in
02:17Mount Hope where he's listed in stable condition
02:20with x-rays expected to be done to determine the seriousness of the injury.
02:24Police recovered three spent nine millimeter shells along the road and
02:27interviewed several people. They say they expect to acquire CCTV
02:30camera footage of the incident and police say the victim refused to
02:34give a statement. A 60-year-old man has to seek medical
02:39treatment after he was assaulted outside of a bar in Piti Valley.
02:42The victim who is from Maravao told police that
02:45around 12.10 a.m yesterday he was leaving a bar located along
02:50Crystal Stream Road in Piti Valley and was walking towards his Toyota
02:54Corolla which was parked nearby when he felt a sharp pain to the back of his
02:58head. He then fell to the ground and observed
03:01two men standing over him. One man was said to be armed with a
03:05length of wood. The other man then proceeded to kick the
03:0860-year-old repeatedly and demanded that he hand over his cash,
03:13cell phone as well as the keys to his vehicle.
03:16The suspects fled the scene with the victim's car proceeding east onto
03:20Crystal Stream and then right onto Moncoco Road.
03:22The police was then notified and a team of officers from the Western Division as
03:26well as the Port of Spain Task Force responded.
03:28About 15 minutes later, a team of officers led by Corporal Lashley
03:32received intelligence which led them to Codrington Street, East Rhyme River and
03:36Lavent Hill where the stolen Corolla was
03:39recovered. The vehicle was taken to the Four Roads
03:42Police Station where it was examined by crime scene investigators.
03:46One workable fingerprint was found and is expected to be used in tracing to
03:51hopefully identify one of the suspects. The 60-year-old was
03:55advised to seek medical treatment for injuries sustained during the ordeal.

04:05Police are once again reminding citizens to be careful when engaging in sales
04:09with people that they would only have met via social media.
04:13The latest warning comes after an Arima man was robbed at gunpoint in Lavent Hill
04:18while attempting to sell a car. Police were told that around 10.30am
04:23on Tuesday, the victim proceeded from Prisgar Lands in
04:28Lavent Hill to view a gold Nissan Almera which was advertised on TT Cars for Sale
04:34at a price of $20,000. When he reached the designated area, the
04:38victim contacted the vendor who met him. The suspect at the corner of
04:42Furness Wissy Road. The vendor entered the victim's silver
04:46Mitsubishi Lancer and directed him to Fatman Lane to examine the vehicle.
04:51However, the victim told police that upon entering Fatman Lane, four masked
04:54men walked onto the road and blocked the car. One of the men was
04:58said to be holding a gun. The men announced a hold-up and ordered
05:01the victim out of his car before they relieved him of cash,
05:04his cell phone and bank cards. They then entered the victim's vehicle and drove
05:09off. Two of the three imported vehicles which
05:13were stolen on Monday from Invaders Bay have been recovered by police. The
05:18recovery happened during an intelligence-led exercise in the Central
05:21Division yesterday. Officers went to a house at
05:24Perseverance Coover where they saw a white caravan vehicle
05:28valued at $23,963, that's US dollars, without registration plates parked on
05:37the road. The vehicle was traced to be an
05:39unregistered vehicle which had been stolen from the port.
05:43The officers then went to the corner of Perry and Cemetery Streets in Coover
05:46where they saw a blue Nissan Note e-Power valued at $15,800 US dollars
05:53with false registration plates parked on a vacant lot of land.
05:57The vehicle was traced to also having been an unregistered vehicle stolen from
06:02the port the day before. The two vehicles along with a still
06:05unaccounted for white Honda vessel valued at $28,500 US dollars
06:10were all parked on Alexander Street, also called
06:14Slipway off Anna Street Extension, near the Port Authority on Monday.
06:20They were to be collected by three importers so the caretakers of the
06:23vehicles left the keys for each of the cars in
06:27the glove compartment. Later that day this video was posted on
06:30social media platforms in which a man advertised the cars
06:34for sale. No arrests were made.
