00:04The victim, Gary Gokul, who relatives described as homeless, was seen walking through the community
00:10of Esperance Village in San Fernando on Friday night with what looked like a head injury.
00:16However, on Saturday morning, his lifeless body was discovered on the steps of a relative's
00:20unfinished home along Jim Street, not far from where he was last seen.
00:25About 6 a.m. in the morning, I saw him lying on the ground, and when I got closer, I realized
00:34he had been in an alcoholic family over the years. He was a cousin of mine, and I came
00:39across and called the police. He was on the step lying down, he had a wound to his head,
00:46and he was bloodied. Gokul, who is a cousin of the victim,
00:52says the Esperance community has always been a peaceful one,
00:56and it was sad to see a crime of this nature take place.
00:59A 34-year-old Colombian national was stabbed to death in Santa Cruz on Sunday morning.
01:23The deceased has been identified as John Gonzalez Mosquera.
01:27According to police reports, around 12.30 a.m. on Sunday, a taxi driver was proceeding along
01:33the Saddle Road to Santa Cruz when, upon reaching the Santa Cruz Presbyterian School,
01:38he observed a man flagging down his vehicle while staggering in the roadway.
01:43The driver stopped, and he observed Mosquera bleeding from injuries to his chest.
01:48He rushed him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hoop,
01:52but Mosquera died shortly after reaching the institution.
01:56Officers from the Homicide Bureau and the St. Joseph Police Station are investigating.
02:02A 51-year-old man is warded in a serious condition after he was shot by a trap gun in Tocu.
02:09The incident took place around 10 a.m. on Saturday along Zagueya Road in Montevideo Village.
02:15The victim told police that he was returning from his garden when he ventured along a track
02:20that he usually does not frequent. He heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation
02:25to his upper left thigh and realized he had been shot. The victim was able to notify his
02:31relatives and he was taken for medical treatment at the Tocu Health Center.
02:37A 40-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in San Gregrande on Saturday night.
02:42Around 8.15 p.m., the victim was walking along L&L Avenue when he was approached by an assailant
02:49dressed in dark clothing who announced a robbery. The victim attempted to flee but was shot in the
02:54right thigh. The attacker then stole the victim's cell phone valued at $900 before escaping in a
03:04silver Nissan Wingrood that was parked nearby. The victim sought help and contacted the police
03:09who responded and transported him to San Gregrande Hospital for medical treatment.
03:15Officers conducted searches for the suspect and vehicle but found nothing.
03:20Police conducted road safety exercises over the weekend during which 12 persons were arrested for
03:26driving under the influence. Those persons were found to have an alcohol level of over the
03:32prescribed limit of 35 mg of 100 milligrams of breath. Officers issued 45 electronic fixed
03:40penalty notices during the exercises including one to a 20-year-old man for driving a motor
03:47vehicle contrary to the stipulations of his learner's permit. Officers arrested a man for
03:52driving without a driver's permit and certificate of insurance. In Tobago, a similar exercise saw 11
03:58fixed penalty notices being issued to motorists for various offenses including driving with no
04:03headlamp, no seatbelts and use of unauthorized lights.
