A fifth-teen year-old boy was shot and killed in Belmont on Friday.

Police say around 10.25 a.m. Zion Roberts and a man, were standing at Serraneau Road off St Francois Valley Road, when a car stopped near them.

00:06on Thursday. Giorgio Young, a laborer of Hope Street, Taradale, St. Madeleine, was shot multiple
00:13times at a home along Persistence Avenue around 2.30 p.m. Police responding to the shooting were
00:20told Young had an altercation under a house with a man who was armed with a gun. The argument
00:27turned into a scuffle. The suspect's gun fell to the ground. He picked it up and fired several
00:32shots at Young, hitting him about the body. He collapsed in a train a short distance away
00:38while the suspect escaped on foot. Young was taken to hospital but died while being attended to.
00:44His mother says he was preparing to go to his stepson's preschool graduation when the incident
00:50occurred. Investigators say the murder may be drug-related.

01:17off but the gunman kept firing. As police recovered, over 40 spent shell casings at the scene. The car
01:24sped off. Residents called the police and officers of the Belmont Police Station rushed over. Their
01:30search for the killers was futile. Relatives and neighbors who knew the Form 2 pupil of the
01:35Success Laventhal Secondary School gathered near the scene, describing the victim as normal with
01:42sometimes mannish ways. One neighbor said he was not disrespectful but he loved to walk around
01:48bare-backed. They said they continually warned him to stay off the road due to the risk of something
01:55like this happening. The murder toll stands at 192 compared with 293 for the same period last year.
