00:43security guard about a year ago on Naji Avenue, New Grant, Princess Town, relatives say Chanel
00:50would often visit, staying a week or two each time just to spend time with her brother.
00:56It was while with him at the home of a man in the area on Wednesday
01:00that the pair was chopped to death, triggering outrage in the community.
01:06He's a menace to society. This is the thing he does. This is his temperament,
01:10you understand? And he had no right to kill them innocent children.
01:14According to police, the girl's body was found motionless at the side of the road around 7pm.
01:20A trail of blood led officers to the suspect's home where her brother's body lay on a couch
01:26in the porch. Both bodies bore chop wounds to the left side of the face and neck.
01:31Many of the children in the area say they saw Chanel's lifeless body.
01:36I saw my girlfriend, little son, running back trembling. I asked them what happened. My niece,
01:41she running, she cannot talk. She in shock. She only beating. She just say,
01:43what happened? What happened? None of the children can't go to school this morning.
01:46Children, I'm traumatized. Whole night messy because he running from here today. He running
01:51inside here. He running in. He running out. Neighbors called police on Thursday morning
01:55to report that the suspect hid overnight in a relative's home nearby. He has since
02:01been detained and remains in police custody tonight.
02:07At the victim's family home in Mayaro, their mother, we were told was inconsolable
02:13and has been unable to speak since getting the news. Their grandmother says she never
02:19imagined she would have to bury a grandchild, let alone two of them.

02:47I think the Prime Minister need to address this country. People in pain, people children
02:53dying, people children crying, all kind of different thing. And you are going to address
02:57the country? You need to face your people and say something to your people.
03:05What it is going on in Trinidad, Trinidad just going helter-skelter and nobody coming
03:10to say nothing. So we not, we running this country. The murderers, the killers,
