00:00At 24 years old, Jamal Rogers, a welder and fabricator by profession, worked hard and had his whole life in
00:08front of him, according to relatives, on Friday morning.
00:12About 12 hours after he was fatally shot at his Manahambri Road, Princess Town home, relatives pointed to the bullet
00:20-riddled door and walls left behind where a gunman entered the property chasing Rogers on Thursday night.
00:27All I just heard is that my nephew was outside here, he was right here screwing in a bulk, right
00:34here screwing in a bulk.
00:36When he screw the bulk and as you walk back, so it's because a man running him down with a
00:41gun.
00:42The gunman then followed Rogers into his bedroom. He was hit multiple times before the gunman fled the scene.
00:49Rogers was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
00:53Investigators recovered 20 spent shells at the home.
00:57You could go and ask anybody. My nephew is one of the loving, sweetest person that anybody could deal with.
01:03You understand? He was a very hard-working person. He never had nothing.
01:08That is his mother. They have one child she has. One child she will have.
01:12We feel so hurt and so fed up.
01:16We're really fed up. Because it's innocent. People have to be going for a war reason.
01:22People just dying. People just hearing whoever and coming and targeting people.
01:28You know how it is go? You know? All them things you call for.
01:32The family says in 2024, Jamal's uncle was found stabbed to death in Williamsville and they got no justice then.
01:40It's why they don't believe it will happen this time around either.
01:44I will just like, you know, the police do the work. You know? Do the investigation.
01:51Do what I have to do. You understand?
01:53We ain't getting the police. They have no wrong with anything.
01:56But at the end of the day, it's too much of people have to feel too much of pain. You
02:00understand?
02:00And there's so much going on in this country. You can't even trust nobody. You know?
02:04We can't even trust the police.
02:07Because the police, them, there's not exactly what's going on.
02:09And when you turn to them and ask them for help, they doesn't even help.
02:12They just be like, yeah, we're going to look into it. We're going to look into it.
02:16And they don't do nothing.
02:18Investigations are ongoing.
