One bandit is under police guard at the Scarborough General Hospital after being shot in what has been described as a failed robbery attempt at Jade Monkey Casino. The incident occurred on Monday at around 4:30am.Two accomplices are in police custody and one escaped on foot. More from Elizabeth Williams.

00:00 Three men armed with guns got the surprise of their lives when they broke in and entered the Jade Monkey Casino and Bar on Monday morning and announced a hold up.
00:12 One struggled with the security guard on the compound and was shot. TV6 News spoke with Jade Monkey Group Managing Director Alan Baggan.
00:22 They were caught in the act. They were asked to put their hands up, do not move. One of the bandits made a sudden, had something in his hand, made a sudden move and was shot.
00:36 And the others ran away during that period. Police quickly apprehended the drivers. There was a white vehicle that had backed up.
00:47 Mr. Baggan told TV6 News that the bandits left empty handed as shots were fired by Jade Monkey Casino private security and the driver of the getaway van that was waiting outside sped off upon seeing police arriving.
