00:56 Some days you just don't like to feel good. Some days you like to feel evil.
01:04 Our Skeletor 1/6 scale is our definitive version featuring some of our favorite accessories from the original Mass Universe minicomics and 80s Mattel releases.
01:12 Everything about this figure is completely brand new with improved functionality from the top to bottom,
01:17 including new and improved waist articulation for much better range of motion.
01:21 Skeletor's standard armor, Alcala Portrait and Terror Claws reference to the original minicomics,
01:26 while his classic portrait, Battle Armor and Dragon Blaster Armor are callbacks to the 80s Mattel line.
01:32 A whole lot of stuff comes with a brand new Skeletor, but before, of course, we look at the things that come in clear with the figure,
01:37 let's first grab the tape measure and see how tall he stands.
01:40 I'd also like to send out a big thank you to the folks over at Mondo that did provide this sample of the exclusive edition of Skeletor that we could have a look at in this review.
01:47 It was originally over on their site for $260. It has since sadly sold out,
01:52 but if you want to get the standard edition of this guy, it's currently still on a pre-order with a release date of January 2024.
01:58 The brand new Skeletor, though, stands almost 12 inches.
02:02 He's actually more or less like 11 and 3/4 of an inch in height, or the figure is about 29 centimeters tall.
02:08 Standing on either side of Skeletor, here's first what the figure looks like along with He-Man.
02:13 Now, this was the version 2 He-Man that had a much more improved body and build, and of course,
02:17 brand new head sculpt came included with a whole bunch of different armors also as well.
02:20 We also had a look at another Skeletor here on this channel.
02:23 Here's what the figure looks like with the Revelations Skeletor, who was for a long time really my stand-in Skeletor,
02:29 who might very well now be replaced with the new one we got from Mondo here.
02:33 First thing we'll have a look at is the display stand that comes in clear with Skeletor.
02:36 One thing you may notice if you have been picking up the Mondo releases in the past is that we used to get display stands that look like this.
02:42 The idea was that they were supposed to look like an M on the back, but unfortunately what it meant though is it sacrificed space needed for Skeletor,
02:48 or really any of that matter, six scale figures feet.
02:51 What they've done instead is they've given us now an oval-shaped display stand.
02:54 It doesn't have really anything in the way of paint, but it gets a nice little texturing cobblestone on the top of it.
02:59 It's molded nice here in black plastic. It doesn't really, again, necessarily need to have any paint on it. It gets the job done.
03:05 From the display stand though, one thing I did want to point out though is on mine, and I'm sure across the board for everyone else's as well,
03:11 they have bent a frame here on one side of the clip.
03:14 You'll notice that this side goes straight up. This side, on the other hand, bends out on the side.
03:19 I'm not really sure why it had to be like this. Maybe they've done it to accommodate...
03:23 The only guess I really had, and I'm sure I'm completely wrong, is by bending it out the way they did, maybe it reduces the tension.
03:29 Because every once in a while, this would start to split.
03:32 On some of my earlier six scale figures, it would start to split the actual plastic post by just having too much tension.
03:38 Maybe bending it out like this maybe relieves a little bit of that tension. I'm sure I have no idea.
03:42 But still though, it's a nice little display stand. It gets the job done.
03:45 It's exactly what I really would have needed from six scale figures from the beginning.
03:48 Just a much larger footprint to accommodate the figure that's gonna be standing on top of it.
03:52 So with Skeletor, there were two versions of this guy currently over on Mondo's site.
03:56 The timed edition exclusive version that we will be looking at in this review is currently again sold out.
04:00 The exclusive would have added the additional cloth cape and the cloth hood.
04:04 While all then the timed edition releases would have had then all the additional armor.
04:08 You may see some of it sitting around right now.
04:10 We'll look through first the timed edition exclusive pieces.
04:13 Then we'll jump over to all the things that come included with the standard release if you wanted to get on board getting that one.
04:18 First, the figure comes with two variations of armor.
04:21 The first armor that the figure comes included with is the Dragon Blaster Skeletor.
04:25 Now this one has a flip out or two panels that basically separate via magnets.
04:30 You may be able to see that not only is there magnets on the top by the shoulders but there's also little clips.
04:35 The clips will attach as very securely as you would expect with tiny little magnets.
04:39 Unfortunately though by adding the additional dragon on the back of the Dragon Blaster armor, it's gonna have a lot of additional weight to this.
04:46 But for what it is, it is a nicely detailed armor mixing some purples and some additional reds added in there as well.
04:51 Some nice little bolts of larger gunmetal gray are also given there as well.
04:55 Then there's the open section of course that's gonna feed the chain through and that's gonna shackle onto the side of Skeletor's arm.
05:01 Of course this whole talk of talking dragon blaster, you need yourself a dragon and you get this really interesting looking dragon that comes included with this release as well.
05:08 The dragon, I was very surprised to see how much poseability this guy actually possessed.
05:12 Not only having swivels in his necks, the neck hinged up and down, you can also move the head also independently back and forth.
05:18 The mouth did also open and close.
05:20 The mouth we will talk more about in a moment.
05:22 There's also some swiveling in the arms, you can bring those arms outward.
05:25 You can swivel as well the individual hands, those move also back and forth.
05:29 You can swivel the whole back section of it, move the tails back or move the legs back and forth.
05:34 There's also as well movement there on the backs of the feet and you can also swivel the tail back and forth as well.
05:39 It's a very again detailed looking dragon.
05:41 But because it's using so much plastic and some additional articulation points, it does mean it adds some additional weight to it.
05:48 The idea though is it's supposed to, there's a little clip on the front of its collar and it basically latches on.
05:54 It's a little harder at times because you want to make sure that the body is completely flush.
05:58 But it just locks itself into, now that's one thing that always will end up happening, maybe it's just best to look at the back section first.
06:04 This basically just hooks in place, get those arms out of the way, there we go.
06:07 And then that just basically sits on the back of Skeletor's body.
06:10 Going back and remember talking about those little tiny magnets.
06:13 The problem with the tiny little magnets though is when you have the two pieces together like this on Skeletor's body,
06:18 the sheer weight of the dragon alone sometimes ends up detaching the back of the armor.
06:23 So it is one thing that while moving the figure around, especially with this design of the dragon blaster,
06:28 yeah, the weight of the dragon will add unnecessary weight to the back of the shell piece and this sometimes usually will detach.
06:35 And of course we'll put this onto Skeletor's body in a second.
06:38 The figure also, I guess while we're still on the topic of the dragon, the dragon also comes in clear with a blast effect.
06:43 The blast effect is nicely cast here in clear translucent green plastic.
06:48 It just sort of does have a little bit of a glow look to it.
06:51 There's a little clip on the inside right there, you can see that?
06:54 We're going to open up the mouth of the dragon and then located on the inside, the roof of his mouth, there's a little opening slot.
07:00 You're going to take the dragon blast piece and that just basically fits inside the mouth and then you can close quarters around that.
07:07 And it gives us a really neat effect.
07:09 Really fun, although again, it's going to add a whole lot of unnecessary weight onto the back of Skeletor's body.
07:14 And don't worry, I'll show you guys in a second how this all clips in place.
07:17 I guess while we're also still talking about the dragon, we don't want to leave that just yet,
07:21 the figure as well comes in clear with a shackle piece.
07:23 Now the shackle piece is something that's going to wrap around through Skeletor.
07:27 If we go back to the armor, for example, it's going to chain its way through the front opening section here of his armor
07:33 and it's going to shackle on this side of Skeletor's body.
07:36 The one thing I will say though, as a critique, is if you look at the chain, this is the shackle piece, of course,
07:41 it's going to go around Skeletor's wrist.
07:43 It's a real metal chain, which I like.
07:45 What I don't like though, is that on the end of it, they didn't give you really a means to attach this properly onto the collar piece of the dragon.
07:52 The only thing you really have to do is the same thing you usually have to do when it comes to little key rings,
07:57 is that one of the looplets, the one on the end, you have to pry a little bit away from itself.
08:02 I don't want to do this too often though, because if you've ever had to deal with tiny little chain pieces like this,
08:06 when you start to move a link back and forth too frequently, eventually it will break the link completely off and you don't want that.
08:13 So you just want to pry it just enough here that you can then fit it around.
08:17 So we're just going to move the dragon out of the way here.
08:19 I really wish that they could have done something differently, like, oh, I don't know,
08:22 like if they had maybe made this as something that could open up,
08:25 so we weren't having to rely solely on having to bend a link in order to get it around the frame.
08:30 I mean, unfortunately though, like you really have to bend it by quite a lot in order to fit that around the collar piece.
08:35 I mean, you can see how thick that ringlet is and how thin the tiny little link is to fit that around the dragon.
08:42 Surely there must have been some easier way to have this be something that would open up and then this would then fit around this.
08:48 Again, it does fit, but you really have to bend it by quite a lot in order to get that around it.
08:53 It needed to do something a little bit different, I think.
08:56 The same thing also means as well, when you get to the padlock,
08:59 while nicely detailed the padlock is, it has some additional silver added in there and brushed on some lighter green.
09:05 Unfortunately, again, it doesn't have any way of ... you have to kind of, again, loop this through.
09:09 I mean, I guess this is the easiest of the thing.
09:11 You don't really have to ... you have to kind of feed this through.
09:14 It feeds it through just like that. That, of course, is going to fit onto the side.
09:17 I guess the padlock isn't really so much the issue.
09:19 The biggest issue is more so right here.
09:21 And then, again, like there's really no way to attach that properly.
09:24 I'm going to get back to that more in a moment.
09:26 It also comes included variations then of his battle armor, his battle chest armor, which I really like.
09:31 I was a big fan of the fact that they included this with He-Man.
09:34 I'm glad to see that Skeletor also followed suit, no pun intended, and it basically works the exact same way.
09:39 Some nice details on the back.
09:41 You've got little skeleton faces, a big large one down below here, and it works the exact same way.
09:45 You're just attaching the two halves, the magnets on either side of it.
09:48 And then, again, like this one doesn't actually have little hooks or little clipping pieces,
09:53 which was kind of strange because if you look at it, if you put the two halves together, for example,
09:57 there seems to be no clip on either side.
10:00 I would have expected like tiny little pegs on this side and then following up to little tiny holes on this side
10:05 where the two halves would clip together.
10:07 Instead, what it seems to be is only relying only just on the magnet pieces on the tops of the shoulders
10:11 and the bottom half of the body, and those, again, snap into place.
10:14 Like with He-Man, though, you get two variations of his battle armor.
10:17 You get one that has the undamaged version of the bat.
10:20 It was like the bat motif that they used for the front of the armor.
10:23 And then there's also one that's a battle damaged version,
10:26 which basically is just one that has a big crack running through it.
10:29 And that attaches the exact same way via magnets.
10:31 The magnets, you can see, have a fair bit of adhesive that they put over top of it,
10:35 but they still stay in place.
10:37 And, again, I love-- I'd rather them use magnets, really, when it comes to this,
10:40 than really relying on pegs.
10:42 Pegs are always one thing that, especially if you're pulling these things off frequently
10:46 and putting them back in place, pegs, if you're not too careful,
10:49 could potentially break off.
10:51 Magnets are just so much easier.
10:53 And, again, that's battle armor Skeletor.
10:55 We'll clip those pieces off in a second.
10:57 Again, I'll show you how the armor swaps out in place in a second as well.
11:00 And then the last thing the figure comes included with as well for the timed edition,
11:03 not including, of course, the heads that we'll get more into in a moment,
11:06 the figure as well comes included with the Terror Claws.
11:09 The Terror Claws, they say, are based from the mini-comics,
11:11 but also, as well, we did get ourselves a Terror Claws release
11:14 in the original Master Universe figure line back in the '80s.
11:16 We did also get a follow-up for that of the Master Universe Origins line.
11:19 And you get some really nice-looking Terror Claws.
11:21 Now, the earlier Skeletor would have only just simply had shell pieces
11:24 that would have fit over top of his existing forearms.
11:26 This time around, in fact, you actually get fully realized, sculpted,
11:29 and nicely painted hands.
11:31 You also get yourself a corresponding collar piece or a cuff piece
11:34 that's going to replace the existing gauntlets that he has on the ends of his forearms.
11:38 And those just snap in place like that.
11:40 The figure also comes included with two variations of his mask.
11:44 Now, he has already one that I think is my favorite, really, of the three.
11:47 But what he does also have included with, as well,
11:50 is he has, I'm guessing, Mondo's more modern take
11:52 of what Skeletor could potentially look like.
11:54 Instead of now having sockets for eyes where you can't see his eyeball pupils at all,
11:58 instead they've colored nicely these little ruby stones in the inside sockets.
12:02 This one also does have an opening and closing mouth.
12:05 And it sort of does look like when you--
12:07 if you ever have picked up, for example, or you've even seen advertised online,
12:10 those Skeletor premiere statues,
12:12 it kind of gets that feel for me, at least, of like a Skeletor premiere statue.
12:16 It's a really nicely detailed sculpt.
12:19 Although, if I was to choose one between them,
12:21 I'd actually really default it back to the one that you're currently seeing
12:24 on the socket of his neck right now.
12:26 I like this one, though.
12:27 I just don't find myself ever probably planning to use it.
12:30 It has a hinge joint, so at least you can open and close the mouth.
12:33 And this just attaches in place via the ball peg.
12:35 The figure also, as well, comes included with the Alfredo Alcala Skeletor,
12:39 which is basically a mini-comics version of Skeletor.
12:42 I love the large eyes on this one.
12:44 It still has tiny little peepers done here in a ruby red.
12:46 And this one also has an open and closed mouth.
12:48 All of these, by the way, can be then swapped out.
12:51 The thing I don't like necessarily about Skeletor
12:54 is how difficult it is to change the heads.
12:56 You'll see what I mean in a second.
12:58 But, again, this one does have an open and closed mouth.
13:00 Really nice portrayal of the Alcala Skeletor from the original mini-comics.
13:05 Then for the figure, as well, because, again,
13:07 this is going to be the exclusive release of the figure,
13:09 he also comes included with a very large cape.
13:11 Now, the cape is a very good material that they've used.
13:13 I'll say that right out the gate.
13:15 The material is not only really thick, but it also has a density to it.
13:18 Like, it feels like a really heavy cape.
13:20 It has a wire frame that runs down the side
13:22 and also runs down the bottom here,
13:24 so you can manipulate this if you want,
13:26 if you want to have this in a more dynamic pose.
13:28 The thing about the cape, though,
13:30 is it's supposed to attach on the back of Skeletor's body,
13:32 not in easy feats.
13:33 To go along with it, though, the figure also comes included with a hood.
13:36 Now, I will say I'm not a big fan of the hood.
13:38 This whole time, I know we've kind of looked at the accessories.
13:40 I haven't really done much of anything to really put these actually on the figure itself.
13:43 We'll change that more in a second.
13:45 But he also comes included with a cloth cape.
13:47 It matches the color nicely to the cape itself,
13:49 the actual hood, that is.
13:51 I'm surprised, though, looking at the back of it,
13:53 they've stitched this back section of the hood,
13:55 so instead of giving him an actual point that comes out from the back,
13:58 they've sewn it against the rest of the hood.
14:00 I'm surprised that they didn't decide to have this as a point.
14:03 I'm almost even tempted to kind of break the seam here,
14:05 get a little seam ripper,
14:07 see if I can actually cut, just shred away a little bit of the threading,
14:11 and see if I can actually get the point to stick out.
14:13 I'm, again, surprised that they sewed it down the way that they did.
14:16 Again, this will swap out.
14:18 If you wanted to use this with the cape,
14:19 you don't really even have to really necessarily use this with Skeletor's cape.
14:23 If you rather prefer instead to use the plastic hood,
14:25 you can also do that as well.
14:27 So, showing you how to change, then, the armor on Skeletor.
14:29 In between takes, by the way, I've already taken the liberty of looping through the chain.
14:33 The chain is now attached onto the side of the dragon,
14:35 but you can see, again, how much warping had to be required on that link
14:39 in order to fit that around the collar piece.
14:41 I think, if anything, even though it would have been a little more of an eyesore,
14:44 just putting this down for a second,
14:45 if you've ever had, for example, a keychain where there's a little clip piece or a little lever,
14:50 and when you push it, the opening would open and close.
14:53 Maybe something could similarly be approached here
14:56 when it came to the dragon blaster Skeletor,
14:58 because, again, I just don't think it fits properly
15:00 without having to warp that little linklet.
15:03 Now, of course, let's go ahead and change out the armor on Skeletor.
15:06 The existing armor, as it is right now, is classic-looking Skeletor in every way.
15:10 I love the way they've actually detailed this guy.
15:12 Of course, you've got the skull and crossbones on the front,
15:14 missing the skull on the front,
15:16 only giving us, really, the crossbones, nicely colored here in brown.
15:19 You've got some really nice additional silver and additional metallic purple added there,
15:24 and all these tiny little details, like skulls varying of sizes,
15:28 starting small and working their way larger as it goes across the front of his shoulders.
15:32 On the back, there's some nice detail done.
15:34 They've added some additional silver on his spinal cord
15:37 and had added some additional silver all across with these tiny little bones
15:40 that run the parameter of his armor.
15:43 The thing about the armor, though, is it has to be detached only by one way.
15:47 So, first of all, you've got yourself Skeletor here.
15:49 Now, he's wearing, currently, as of right now, he's wearing the plastic hood.
15:53 This hood can just be detached and can then be swapped out with the fabric hood instead.
15:57 I'll show you guys what that looks like.
15:59 Let's just pop the head off right now.
16:01 I'll tell you one thing also with Skeletor.
16:03 I'm just putting the figure's body down here for a second.
16:06 When you go to change out any one of his face pieces, by the way,
16:09 there's only one way, unfortunately, to do it.
16:11 You have to take off the hood first.
16:13 You have to slide out the whatever mask, whatever face you're currently using,
16:17 and then when you go to put in a new one, you have to slide it back in reverse steps,
16:20 and then you have to put the entire piece back then onto his ball joint.
16:23 I wish there was a way.
16:25 I mean, obviously, there would be a very ugly seam right there
16:27 where they could have had like magnet pieces in a similar fashion
16:30 to maybe like the battle armor pieces where you would just be able to attach them,
16:34 put the face in, or already have the face obviously on there,
16:37 and then just sandwich the either sides together.
16:40 I know, obviously, I mean, there's a seam right there,
16:42 but the seam, I think, is only more cast from the molding itself.
16:44 But if they've done something similar, it just would have meant that
16:47 there's a lot less than work having to put the face in every single time.
16:51 Now, if you did want to change out the faces, I did want to show you guys quickly.
16:54 This one is my favorite really of all of them.
16:56 This is the defaulted head.
16:58 This is the same head, in fact, that's going to come included with the standard release of Skeletor.
17:01 So if you don't have the availability to get the exclusive,
17:03 or you just missed your chance to get it,
17:05 this is the defaulted head that's going to come along with it.
17:07 And it still opens and closes. It looks like classic-looking Skeletor.
17:10 If you did want to change out the faces, though,
17:13 again, you're just going to use this, and you're going to slide this in the front.
17:15 Now, unfortunately, again, when you're putting this back onto the figure's body,
17:18 you kind of have to hold the front of the face,
17:20 and you have to kind of push it down from the top.
17:22 I would encourage the idea, probably, of first putting the heads onto the ball joint,
17:26 just to widen up the sockets inside the head.
17:29 Then it'll be a lot easier when it comes to putting the new head in place,
17:32 and you're not going to have to worry as much about having Skeletor's head falling off.
17:35 If you did want to look at it, or did want to see it, at least,
17:37 with the cloth hood, let's just slide out Skeletor's face.
17:41 Take the cloth hood, and it works basically the exact same way.
17:44 The thing about the cloth hood, though, is while there's a metal frame running all around the side of it,
17:49 I mean, it always kind of looks a little floppy. It looks a little bit loose.
17:52 And again, if you want to put that onto Skeletor's body,
17:55 I'm putting it completely down, but at least show you guys what it looks like.
17:58 You have to fix it up by quite a lot, because, again, unfortunately,
18:02 there's just so much additional material that they ended up using.
18:05 Yeah, you can bring this forward a little bit, but it also lacks, again,
18:08 that little point that it would have had on the back of it.
18:11 I mean, this goes nicely, then, with the cape, but preferring really between the two,
18:14 I'd rather just go with the plastic hood, flipping around here,
18:17 get the plastic hood going, and have the cape attached with it instead that way.
18:20 If you did want to change the armor out, though, it's a case of flipping around the back of the figure.
18:24 There's a peg, I don't know if you can see right there, just on the inside,
18:28 and then that loops into this section of the armor.
18:31 So when you're attaching it back, if you want to put it back to its OG armor,
18:34 you basically have to take this piece, feed it up as high as you can get it,
18:38 and then take the peg from that and fit it in place.
18:40 The first couple of times you do this, you'll notice it still stays pretty tight.
18:44 After that, though, it starts to get too loose,
18:47 and then the armor piece just eventually doesn't really stay properly in place.
18:51 But again, if you wanted to change out the armor,
18:53 there doesn't seem to be any other easier way than I've seen.
18:56 If there was a way, for example, to detach it from the front,
18:58 we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
19:00 But unfortunately, with only detaching it from the back,
19:03 it seems the only way to change out Skeletor's armor, honestly,
19:06 from what I can see, is actually having to slide the entire armor piece
19:10 down the side of his body, or down the front of his body.
19:12 You have to kind of shimmy it down the sides of his legs.
19:15 I thought for a second, like, maybe there was a way that I could bring one of the arms up
19:18 and I kind of feed it up that way, but no, it doesn't seem to be the case.
19:22 So again, we're just going to bring this down Skeletor's body,
19:25 shimmy as far down as we can get it.
19:27 Once we really get past, like, the thigh section,
19:29 you really shouldn't have any problems after that.
19:31 Now, He-Man had a similar kind of case, where with his armor, for example,
19:35 I think it actually detached on the sides and basically just looped its way out.
19:39 Skeletor, I feel, could have something similar done to that,
19:42 instead of having to rely on having to slide the armor down.
19:45 Now, I'm just going to default it back to original Skeletor when it's all said and done,
19:50 but taking the armor off, I just feel like there must have been an easier way to do it,
19:54 other than having to do it the way that we did.
19:56 Taking the dragon armor, and we're going to kind of take everything together here,
20:00 we're going to detach the back.
20:02 Now, again, I've already, I've looped the dragon, I've taken the ringlet,
20:05 I've looped it onto the side of the collar, I've looped then the chain.
20:08 Did I loop the chain all the way through? Did I miss it? I didn't miss it.
20:11 Okay. You're going to loop the chain all the way through the front of his torso.
20:14 This will involve several steps.
20:16 So what we're going to do is we're going to take the back section of Skeletor with the dragon blast,
20:20 and then we're going to take ourselves the dragon, and we're going to loop it onto the back here.
20:25 Some of this may not be in frame right now, so I apologize for that.
20:28 We're going to then take the front half of the piece, and we're going to clip it in place.
20:34 Now, I did already say the problem with the magnets is I don't feel like they're nearly strong enough.
20:39 I mean, once you hit this on Skeletor's body, I find, like, as you can already see,
20:43 the weight of the dragon starts to pull these apart.
20:46 You kind of fit them together, but still, I feel like the weight of the dragon is just adding too much stress.
20:51 I mean, you can already see the way that it starts to separate the seams from the top of the armor.
20:56 You see, right even there.
20:58 Like, you can't... I find one thing also helps as well.
21:01 If you take the arms of the dragon and kind of make them flush to his body,
21:04 where he's not pushing against the armor, it might kind of help to kind of ensure that that's going to last a little bit longer than what it is.
21:10 Then you're going to take yourself Skeletor's hands.
21:12 You're going to just remove Skeletor's hand on one side at least.
21:15 Just wiggle the hand until finally it frees itself from the post.
21:20 There we go.
21:21 And then you're going to take yourself the gauntlet.
21:23 The gauntlet's already going to come off there, and then we're just going to slide the shackle piece then onto Skeletor's forearm,
21:28 and then we're going to replace the hand.
21:32 And just get everything back in proper place.
21:34 And short of maybe just adding the head...
21:36 Now, again, you can already see what I'm talking about.
21:38 Short of just changing out the head, there's basically what he'll look like with Dragon Blaster Skeletor.
21:43 Good concept on paper, but unfortunately, again, I just feel like the weight of the dragon...
21:47 I mean, in a case like this, I would have been open to the idea of sacrificing all the articulation on the dragon,
21:52 just making him actually a lighter piece,
21:54 so they would probably have held everything in place properly when it comes to displaying this guy,
21:58 at least in this Dragon Blaster version.
22:01 Let's go ahead and at least right now, let's take everything back off.
22:03 After all of that, let's just slide the hand off, take the shackle piece off,
22:07 take the front half of the armor, take the back half of the armor,
22:10 and we're just going to make sure that everything still stays together.
22:13 Just going to put those pieces to the side.
22:15 I might just bring this guy back when it comes to actually the final look of the figure.
22:18 I'm not really sure what look I'm going to decide to go with.
22:20 Of course, with the battle armor version of Skeletor,
22:22 you're going to then take the hands. Where did I put the hand?
22:24 The hand was over here.
22:26 And... oh, there's a hand right there.
22:28 We're just going to put the hand back in place.
22:31 There's a lot less fussing and musing when it comes to the actual battle armor.
22:36 You're just going to detach the two halves together,
22:38 put the front half on the front, the back half on the back,
22:41 not drop the actual back piece in the process.
22:44 That snaps very securely in place.
22:46 And then you can, of course, take your battle piece, and that fits also on the front.
22:50 Obviously, of all the pieces, of all the armors,
22:53 the battle armor was the easiest to change.
22:56 Again, I just don't really like the idea that they had to add so much weight on the drag.
23:00 I mean, on paper, again, it makes for a nice way of displaying the figure,
23:04 and I do appreciate that, obviously, it's a nod then to the comics.
23:07 But unfortunately, though, it just adds unnecessary weight,
23:09 and there's no way, I feel at least, those two halves,
23:12 and with such small magnets working behind the scenes,
23:15 I don't feel like there's really any way to properly have those two halves staying together.
23:19 So if you wanted to put the cape then on Skeletor,
23:21 I've already taken the liberty, by the way, of putting back his OG armor,
23:24 and it was just, again, a case of sliding it back up the legs.
23:27 There really honestly needed to be an easier way to do that.
23:29 But we're just going to detach the top here, we're going to slide this down.
23:33 Take yourself the cape.
23:34 Now, with the cape, the way they've designed this
23:36 is that there is actually a little looplet here on the back,
23:39 with the idea, I'm supposing, in mind that if you then take,
23:42 so we're just picking up the armor, for example,
23:44 the inside has that little peg.
23:45 I think the idea is that you take yourself the elastic,
23:48 that fits around the neck of Skeletor's body,
23:50 and then this part is the part that's supposed to then clip into this little looplet.
23:54 I've found it was really difficult to actually get that on there,
23:58 so what I've done instead is simply just put the armor piece
24:01 on top of Skeletor's cape like this,
24:04 and just make sure everything's properly in place,
24:06 and then the cape honestly just sits fine the way it is.
24:08 I mean, it's not obviously going to be detached,
24:10 it's not going to be attached onto the back of the figure's body,
24:12 but if you're only really looking at it from the front,
24:14 no one would be any bit the wiser.
24:16 The only thing it does, unfortunately, now have is then the elastic piece
24:19 that you're going to see from the front of the figure's body.
24:21 That could easily then be rectified.
24:23 We're going to take then the cloth cape, the cloth hood,
24:25 and we're going to maybe use, say, the more modern-looking Skeletor.
24:29 And again, we're just going to take that.
24:31 That's going to fit on top of the frame, or fit on top of the ball joint.
24:34 Push it down as far down as you can get it.
24:36 I don't have it completely on there,
24:39 but that's basically what Skeletor then would look like with the cloth hood.
24:42 I think I like the cape.
24:44 I don't know why I would say if I'm as crazy when it comes to the actual hood piece.
24:48 I think, again, like the hood sits...
24:50 Because you're actually using a real hood material,
24:52 it's sort of the same argument that can be made
24:54 when it comes to real rooted hair on figures.
24:56 You really have to do it well enough that it doesn't look...
24:58 It doesn't look bulky. It doesn't look too unrealistic.
25:02 I think with the hood, while some people may prefer to have the fabric hood
25:05 because it's going to go then with the fabric cape,
25:07 I'm not really a big fan of it myself
25:09 because I just feel it loses some of its form.
25:11 Rather, instead, I'd like to just probably use the plastic hood
25:15 just because, again, you've got a fully sculpted...
25:17 It's always going to stay the way it's designed,
25:19 so I'm never going to have to worry about this flopping around on me.
25:22 I can just have the figure displayed that way instead.
25:24 Jumping now over to the accessories that come included
25:28 with the standard release of Skeletor,
25:30 there's still quite a lot of territory to cover.
25:32 First, the figure comes included with this power sword.
25:34 The power sword looks to be a casting of the same one
25:37 that we got included with He-Man.
25:39 It's, though, done in metallic purple instead.
25:41 They don't give you the option of having the two halves
25:43 that can come together to, of course, make the power sword,
25:46 but I like the more fully sculpted on both sides version of this instead.
25:50 Some additional silver has also been added there as well.
25:52 The coloring of the handle looks nicely done here in a matte black finish.
25:55 The figure also comes included with this scepter battle axe.
25:59 I'm sure he uses it as a scepter
26:01 because, judging by the fact, it's got a big orb on the end of it,
26:04 but it also is a really nice-looking battle axe as well.
26:06 It matches somewhat the same similar purple
26:09 that they've used for the blade for the power sword.
26:11 Nicely done here again. Really good.
26:13 I always like to kind of display my figures, at least at the smaller size.
26:16 With the battle armor, I usually always like to put the figures with their battle axes.
26:19 It's just something I like to do.
26:20 The figure also comes included with this Havok staff.
26:22 The strange thing about the Havok staff is not only is it nicely painted,
26:26 but for a second looking at it,
26:28 it looks like there's a hinge on the back of the jaw.
26:30 I thought there'd be a way to move this where I would open and close it
26:33 because if you look at the back, it almost looks as if it's attached via ball joints.
26:37 I didn't want to force the matter because, again,
26:39 I just didn't want to break anything on a possibility of thinking that something could move on it.
26:44 Other than that, though, it's a really nice-looking version of the Havok staff.
26:47 And it's quite long as well, too.
26:48 If you're putting it next to a skeletor, it goes almost to the top of the figure's head.
26:52 The figure also comes included with a series of interchangeable hands.
26:55 Now, he has, as of right now, closed-fisted hands inside the sockets of his forearms.
26:59 If you prefer to have him wielding something instead, though,
27:01 the figure has a couple of gripping hands.
27:03 The figure also comes included with slight relaxed versions of gripping hands.
27:07 A little bit more of a wider grip, essentially.
27:09 The figure also comes included with a couple of gestured hands.
27:12 Now, this looks like almost T-time Skeletor.
27:14 By the way, he's got a little tiny pinky straight out like this.
27:17 It looks a little out of place.
27:18 I prefer, like, the hands just if they had only simply taken this hand
27:22 and mirror-flipped it over to this one.
27:24 I think I would have preferred that a little bit more instead.
27:25 But, yeah, if you wanted to have Power Kray's Skeletor displayed on your shelf,
27:29 definitely give him one of these hands.
27:30 I think that's going to fit the bill nicely.
27:32 And then, of course, the figure finally comes included with this classic-looking head sculpt.
27:35 If you wanted to throw back the original Master Universe figures from back in the '80s
27:39 and you wanted a classic-looking Skeletor,
27:41 this will, again, just pop off the existing head that he already has right now.
27:44 And instead of actually taking the hood piece and having to slide the face in front of it,
27:49 this is all one piece.
27:50 Self-contained.
27:51 Nicely painted, also, as well.
27:54 With that all now being said, we've covered off, like I said, quite a lot of territory.
27:57 Let's now look at Skeletor here.
27:59 Now, I know we've looked at mostly Skeletor,
28:01 but this is basically, again, going back to the way he would have looked
28:03 if you got yourself the standard release of him.
28:05 Sporting what I feel to be the superior of all the head sculpts,
28:08 this one here has, again, like the mouth that opens and closes,
28:11 this one also has already had more time also onto the ball peg,
28:14 so it means that this one attaches a little bit more securely
28:16 than, say, the other three head sculpts we've already had a look at.
28:19 It still has the hood piece that's separate,
28:21 so that's one of the unfortunate things that always have to happen with Skeletor
28:25 because he has to have a hood.
28:27 The hood never really attaches properly
28:29 and never looks like it's seamless look to the rest of his shoulder armor.
28:32 It sits a little loose, but of course it's something that if you have it close enough
28:35 always to his armor, I mean, it looks, again, pretty seamless
28:38 until you start to move the figure's head around.
28:40 The top of the body, of course, now this is all utilizing a brand new mold
28:44 and some additional articulation that wasn't on the original Skeletor from before.
28:47 Again, we've already looked at the fact that the top armor piece is really nicely decorative, detailed.
28:51 Of course, the actual lower half of his body,
28:53 he has these little skirt flaps that go over top of an essential,
28:56 essentially like a furry loincloth,
28:58 and the loincloth covers, of course, all the features underneath.
29:01 I suppose you would be able to probably take off all of this
29:03 if you wanted to have a classic-looking Skeletor,
29:05 but all the armor and all the adorning detail that they've actually sculpted on there.
29:09 I love this little front face that they've got on the front of his belt.
29:12 And of course, this does loop around to the back.
29:14 It does look like, it almost looks like you'd be able to attach this,
29:16 but again, I think that the same thing will end up happening.
29:19 If you start to loosen this too much,
29:20 similar to what you would have done on the back of his armor piece,
29:22 this would start to have a harder time staying together.
29:25 All nicely detailed, though.
29:26 Again, you've got these tiny little skulls all across each of the individual skirtings,
29:30 and he does, of course, have the Skeletor boots down below with the leg guards,
29:33 which have some additional nice, additional gold added in there as well.
29:37 Looks a little bit like a throwback to Hordak and the Horde,
29:40 but nice gold there nonetheless.
29:41 For the figure's articulation,
29:42 this Skeletor does have pretty much the same retained articulation as he meant from before.
29:47 The head is going to be on a ball joint,
29:48 so it does move independently back and forth.
29:50 It does move up and down,
29:51 but again, when you're moving it up and down,
29:53 what will usually end up happening is it's going to leave a section in between the hood
29:56 and the rest, of course, of his shoulder piece.
29:58 Now, again, you can also bring the hood a little bit further forward
30:01 if you want to have that really low-looking Skeletor.
30:03 I love the look of that.
30:04 Arms do come out.
30:05 Now, I know it's not with my arms, at least.
30:07 These arms are really on the more tighter side.
30:09 The arms normally would be able to come out 90 degrees.
30:11 You can also take those arms and move them forward and back.
30:13 The figure has a swivel at his—not his bicep, necessarily.
30:16 The bicep is actually a separate joint right there,
30:18 but he also has technically two hinges.
30:20 So he's got one swivel here, one swivel here,
30:22 and then dividing the two, he also has a hinge joint
30:25 that allows the form to bend back and forth.
30:27 The hands, as well, rotate also all the way around.
30:29 The upper torso of Skeletor has an upper torso ball joint.
30:32 Further down from that on his abdomen area,
30:35 he has also an abdomen joint,
30:36 so you can move that also all the way around.
30:38 Legs do split out on Skeletor.
30:40 You can take those legs and move them forward and back.
30:42 The problem with moving the legs forward and back, though,
30:44 is it's really tight quarters here.
30:45 You're really not going to be able to move the legs very freely forward and back.
30:48 There's a mild swivel at the top of the thigh,
30:50 double hinge on the knee, which is really tight on my figure,
30:53 and then he also has the ankle articulation,
30:55 where you can move it back and forth this way
30:57 and back and forth this way, as well.
30:59 Clearly, the definitive version of Skeletor.
31:02 This is the Skeletor I've always really wanted.
31:04 Now, we did also get another version of Skeletor.
31:06 I didn't—I used to have had that figure in my collection.
31:08 I don't have that figure anymore in my collection,
31:10 and that's one of the reasons why I never brought him in for comparisons,
31:12 but we did get that original OG Skeletor
31:14 that sort of did have that same similar mini-comic head sculpt,
31:17 that we got from Alfredo Alcala.
31:19 Now, speaking of that head sculpt,
31:21 I'm glad to see that they actually include that,
31:23 and a nice little nod to the original mini-comics.
31:25 There's a lot, again, going on here with Skeletor.
31:27 There's a lot of extra pieces off to the side here
31:29 that you probably can already see for yourself.
31:31 I like all the things that they included with the figure.
31:33 The only thing I'm not as big of a fan, though,
31:35 is the Dragon Blaster sculpt.
31:36 All the additional armor pieces that they incorporated for the Dragon Blaster,
31:39 while it sounds, again, good on paper.
31:41 My problem, again, with it, though,
31:43 is I feel like the magnets just aren't nearly strong enough.
31:45 I'm going to bring those pieces back in right now.
31:47 With so much weight being occupied by the Dragon
31:49 that sits on the back of his body,
31:51 I feel like, again, those poor little magnets
31:53 don't stand a chance to try to stay together.
31:55 They should have probably devised a better way, I feel,
31:57 to securely attach the back half to the front half of his armor,
32:00 so it would stay a better, stayed properly in place.
32:02 As it is right now, I think the Dragon is way too heavy
32:04 on the back of Skeletor's body,
32:06 that if you did want to have the figure displayed, for example,
32:08 in his Dragon Blaster setup,
32:10 I think you may want to have something additionally added.
32:13 I almost even considered the idea of taking, like, clear elastics
32:16 and wrapping around the figure's body.
32:18 For me, at least, though, I'm probably going to either be displaying him
32:20 as you're currently seeing right now,
32:22 or I might also default him over to the Battle Armor Skeletor.
32:24 The beauty of what they're doing here from Mondo
32:26 is the fact that they give you so many different options,
32:28 different variations of having Skeletor,
32:30 that every once in a while, I'm doing it even now with my He-Man.
32:32 I go back to He-Man from time to time.
32:34 I change out his armor, so he's not always just
32:36 classic-looking He-Man from time to time.
32:38 He also becomes Battle Armor He-Man.
32:40 I might do something very similar here as well for Skeletor.
32:42 I really did have high hopes to have the figure
32:44 displayed in final looks with the Dragon Blaster,
32:46 because, again, from an accessory standpoint,
32:48 it has the highest count.
32:50 Unfortunately, though, just with the armor, the way it's designed,
32:52 and how heavy -- I know, I keep talking about the dragon --
32:54 it just doesn't work, especially when I'm
32:56 rotating the figure on a turntable.
32:58 I had the armor actually coming off a couple of times.
33:00 Go with more of the lighter look instead.
33:02 I've got the figure displayed here with the Battle Armor.
33:04 Love the look of Battle Armor Skeletor.
33:06 Even as a kid, I grew up loving the look of the Battle Armor.
33:08 I still wish I could kind of track down
33:10 one of the original Battle Armor Skeletors,
33:12 as I'd like to have one on my display shelf.
33:14 But I like the look of this figure.
33:16 I've got the figure, as you can currently see,
33:18 currently displayed with his battle axe
33:20 sort of scepter weapon that he wields.
33:22 A nice way of displaying the figure.
33:24 There's so many different choices, always,
33:26 that Mondo affords with these figures.
33:28 If you get the chance, like I said, to get the timed edition.
33:30 I know the timed edition sold out pretty fast at $260,
33:32 but given the fact it gave us two different
33:34 additional armor pieces, two additional head pieces,
33:36 and also, as well, the Terra Claws version of Skeletor,
33:38 which I didn't end up showing you guys in this review,
33:40 it's simply just a case of snapping out,
33:42 popping off the hands on the ends of forearms,
33:44 and swapping them out accordingly.
33:46 Yeah, there's a lot of different ways of having the figure displayed.
33:48 For me, I'm going to probably go to either
33:50 the OG look, either with or without the cape,
33:52 or have the figure displayed with the Battle Armor.
33:54 I'm kind of, again, warming a little more
33:56 to the idea of displaying the figure with the Battle Armor.
33:58 I really like the look of that.
34:00 But what do you guys think of Skeletor?
34:02 Let me know down below in the comments section.
34:04 Have you guys had the chance to pick up this version?
34:06 Either the exclusive edition, or were you lucky enough
34:08 to get the exclusive timed edition?
34:10 Big thank you, once again, to the folks over at Mondo
34:12 that did provide this sample of the brand new
34:14 Master Universe Skeletor.
34:16 This was the exclusive timed edition.
34:18 We had the chance to have a look at this review.
34:20 If you guys did enjoy this video,
34:22 I want to hit it with a like.
34:24 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing,
