00:01Spending your summers away from home can be fun. Just don't forget your physical media.
00:05What's inside the Scream Factory Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 4K releases.
00:16Shortly, shortly, I will be cutting open the tape to reveal the contents inside.
00:20I have just ordered this from Scream Factory about a month or so ago and they finally have it arrive to my doorstep.
00:25Well, that's a bit of a lie. It didn't arrive right to my doorstep.
00:28I had to truck my way to my post office where I usually pick up my parcels.
00:32Sorry for spitting on everybody here.
00:34Inside, though, this box, and the main reasons why it's as long as it is, is because there's also some rolling posters.
00:40It seems to be something, though, that Scream Factory does a lot of.
00:42Their new recent releases, they always tend to include posters.
00:45That's a good and a bad thing.
00:47The bad is, though, it tacks on the price of what you then...
00:49I know I shouldn't really be waving my knife.
00:51It tacks on to the price of what you normally would be paying for just the movies alone.
00:54The positive, though, at least, is that it ensures that nothing's going to be damaged inside.
00:59Very unlikely, I'm sure, that the movies that are inside are going to be damaged at all because, of course, it's going to have a larger box.
01:06Sometimes, though, I have ordered from Scream Factory in a smaller box, just only around the areas of the movie, and it has arrived damaged.
01:13I don't think the likelihood of this being...
01:15I say this now.
01:16I don't think the likelihood there would be that anything's going to be damaged inside.
01:20It's funny, though, enough that we're actually talking about Sleepaway Camp.
01:23Just recently, in fact, actually, I picked up a couple of Sleepaway Camps, not really knowing right away that Scream Factory had plans to announce either one of these titles.
01:32I have both Sleepaway Camp 2, Unhappy Campers, and I also have Sleepaway Camp 3, Teenage Wasteland.
01:39These came to us from Pied Piper, a rather relatively unknown, for me at least, boutique label that was doing film, obviously, re-releases.
01:47The thing about that, though, is while it does have, I guess, the quality of the pictures are fine and good, but I've got to say, like, the actual inserts are terrible.
01:57I mean, both of these, sure, yes, look like the original posters, but why did they have to do them in, like, this orange treatment?
02:04When I see something like this, I think it's more like Halloween.
02:06The actual inserts, though, the actual inserted CDs, if I can open this up here, there we go, just bare basics.
02:13Again, you've just only got the movie itself.
02:14I don't even think really it had much in the way.
02:16No, it doesn't really have anything else in the way of features.
02:19This one either, also, yeah, has nothing really other than just exactly the movie itself.
02:25So, again, like, it's very bare bones.
02:27I was kind of really, again, disappointed by hearing the announcement of Scream Factory,
02:30because I thought to myself, well, why would I have spent the money to get these,
02:33knowing, though, that Scream Factory was going to do something similar?
02:36Well, they didn't really do something similar.
02:38We're going to talk more about that in a moment.
02:40It's also something, too, I know I've spent very little time actually doing any cutting.
02:43We're going to get to that in a second.
02:46I still would recommend holding on to your original Scream Factory Sleepaway Camp
02:49because they have yet, again, to release the original.
02:52So, this one is still going to be going for good prices online.
02:55Actually, I think Sleepaway Camp is a pretty inexpensive movie to pick up.
02:57So, Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3, scalpers, I'm sure, have now started to drop the prices down
03:02because, again, now that Scream Factory has released their titles.
03:05That being said, though, let's go ahead and cut the paper.
03:07I know, I'm sorry, I've eaten up so much of your time so far.
03:10Cut the paper tape on one side.
03:12Cut the paper tape, then, on the other.
03:15And then we'll meet in the middle.
03:17Now, I'm careful to do this.
03:18I say careful.
03:19I don't really know how deep I'm actually cutting this.
03:21I just want to make sure, though, I'm not damaging anything inside the box.
03:25Luckily, though, it seems to be the case.
03:26Because Scream or Shout Factory always includes the paper inserts or the paper packing
03:30just to ensure that nothing's going to get damaged.
03:33So, we can discard that quickly.
03:35And then we've got ourselves the two movies.
03:38We've got ourselves the extra slips.
03:39And we also have ourselves the posters.
03:41Now, I'm not going to open up and show the posters.
03:44This is basically just a smaller version of what they're going to be looking like.
03:46Sleepaway Camp 2, this is the original poster art.
03:49As a kid, seeing this in a video store, I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought,
03:52is this a Freddy vs. Jason T's, that there was a Freddy glove and there was a Jason mask.
03:57Sleepaway Camp 2, Sleepaway Camp 3, Teenage Wasteland, that's also included there as well.
04:02But you get, like, the original posters.
04:04I don't think, though, the new artwork is going to be featured on the posters themselves.
04:09I think the posters, as far as I remember, are only just the originals.
04:12Let's just have a look here and see.
04:16I really wasn't planning to open this up.
04:18You know what? Let's see if we can cut this carefully.
04:22We'll cut carefully the tape here, just to make sure that nothing gets damaged.
04:27Do this on both sides.
04:30There we go.
04:31I just want to take...
04:32Okay, it is. It is also the new artwork, also, as well.
04:36So, even though there's really just the advertisements of the original movie posters, 2 and 3,
04:40they have also included, that's right, the new artwork also in there as well.
04:44So, we're going to put the posters over there.
04:46If you're wondering, though, what the new artwork is going to look like,
04:48we'll kind of get to that more in a moment.
04:50Again, I'm going to also bring back my original titles here.
04:53So, Sleepaway Camp, the original deluxe Blu-ray set from Scream Factory.
04:57The Pai Piper releases of Sleepaway Camp 2 and Sleepaway Camp 3.
05:01I'm going to hold on to those as well.
05:03If you have purchased these, and I would certainly say try to track these down as well,
05:07one of my big disappointments of the Scream Factory 4Ks
05:10is that they're only, in fact, 4Ks.
05:12They have not included the Blu-ray,
05:14and I think that, first of all, is a missed opportunity.
05:17Maybe they only had the licensing available to only release the titles in 4K.
05:21But I really feel like anything that's being released now,
05:24from any boutique label, Scream Factory or otherwise,
05:26should always include a 4K UHD,
05:29and they should also pack that along with the Blu-ray.
05:31So, what we get here is the original, based, again, on the poster art,
05:36Sleepaway Camp 2.
05:38On the back, though, new 4K restoration of the 35mm interpositive.
05:43Presented in Dolby Vision.
05:44New return to Sleepaway Camp 2.
05:46Looking at the making of the film with counselor Jeff Hayes,
05:50author of Sleepaway Camp, the making of the movie,
05:53and reigniting the campfire.
05:54New, I'm a happy camper.
05:56Interview with actor Brian Patrick Clark.
05:59New, Camp Carnage.
06:00Inside the Makeup Effects.
06:01Interview with special makeup effects artist Bill Johnson.
06:05Audio commentary with director Michael A. Simpson.
06:08And screenwriter Fritz Gordon.
06:10A tale of two sequels.
06:11Part 1, Back to Camp.
06:12Featuring interviews with Michael A. Simpson.
06:14Actress Amy Fields.
06:16Director of photography Bill Mills and more.
06:18Abandoned locations of Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3.
06:21Behind the scenes footage.
06:23Home video trailer.
06:24Whatever Happened to Molly.
06:25Short film and still gallery.
06:27The running time on this.
06:30By the way, this was released in 1988.
06:33Trying my best to find how long this movie actually is.
06:36I do not see it.
06:37Was it 88 minutes?
06:38I feel like it was 88 minutes.
06:40Well, the Pied Piper release of this will also tell me.
06:43No, it's 80 minutes.
06:4480 minutes for that.
06:45So we get ourselves, of course, the 4K release.
06:47Let's cut that quickly open.
06:48Again, I just don't know why that Screen Factory chose not to include the Blu-ray.
06:55It may have something to just...
06:56I mean, the prices of what these things are going for now.
06:59Blu-ray always seemed to be an obvious thing to include.
07:03And yet, yeah, there you go.
07:04You're only going to be getting the Ultra UHD.
07:07So, we have ourselves again.
07:09We have the movie.
07:10We have the original slipcover.
07:13And then what we also get as well is we get brand new slipcovers.
07:16So, let's go ahead and open these up.
07:19Now, these would be also what the posters would be.
07:21Just a larger version of that.
07:23So, let's...
07:24Careful, careful, careful.
07:26Oh, these things are never always the easiest thing to open up.
07:30Just rip the plastic carefully here.
07:33Now, you're probably already asking yourself,
07:34Hey, brah.
07:36You don't have to call me brah, by the way.
07:38I couldn't help but notice that you've got yourself the Tooth Limited Edition.
07:41New artwork slipcovers.
07:42What possibly are you now going to do with the originals?
07:44Oh, I have ideas for that.
07:46So, we have Sleepaway Camp 2, Unhappy Campers.
07:49Brand new artwork here.
07:51Again, not really much in the way of features on the back.
07:53I was kind of surprised that they didn't do just not have...
07:56I mean, when it really comes to, like, the inserts,
07:58I know, really, the insert is still something that...
08:00Well, the slip is something you can just take off.
08:02And it shows you all the features on the back of the case.
08:05I still really feel, though,
08:06I would have preferred not to have an artwork or a picture imaged on the back.
08:10I would rather if they had just used this, literally, this exact same thing on the back.
08:15And just put that on the back of the insert.
08:17When that comes to...
08:18Oh, I keep saying inserts.
08:20When it comes to the slipcovers, let me know what you prefer.
08:23Do you like the idea that they just basically put an image or some artwork on the back of it?
08:27Or do you actually like the idea that you'd be able to slide this off the shelf?
08:30And on the back of the slipcover, you'd still be able to make out the features,
08:34everything that's going to be on the movie itself, the runtime, the release date.
08:38Let me know what you guys think.
08:40So, we have ourselves two versions of this.
08:42Sleepaway Camp 2, the UHD.
08:45And, of course, Sleepaway Camp, the original poster art.
08:47My plan, because initially I was kind of thinking to myself,
08:49I've wasted the money to get the Pied Piper.
08:51I'll probably just get rid of those.
08:53Then when I went back to look at what I had ordered from Screen Factor,
08:55I realized they only had planned to release this in 4K.
08:59So, I'm not necessarily disappointed that I did get myself the Pied Piper release of this.
09:05Because what I have planned now is I'm going to take the release from Screen Factory
09:08and I'm going to add the new slipcover to this.
09:11Careful to slide this over top.
09:13Hey, that looks nice.
09:15What's really cool, though, is that you can see Angela's on the side there.
09:18Now, what I'm going to plan now to do with this cover,
09:20even though it really isn't 4K, it's still a Blu-ray,
09:23I'm going to actually put this on the Blu-ray release.
09:26It might be something, too, that you may want to find yourself doing.
09:29And just to show you guys the differences between the two,
09:32like the original poster art is a little bit more of an olive green,
09:35and then the new poster art is kind of more of a black, black spine.
09:40So, I'll be able to tell right away the differences between the two.
09:42If I ever want to watch the Blu-ray, because I don't have 4Ks in every room,
09:45I only have one 4K player.
09:47If I want to watch a Blu-ray somewhere else in the room,
09:50I can then just grab the one from Pied Piper.
09:52It doesn't have really much in the way of the features.
09:53It only has just strictly the 80-minute-long movie.
09:57And I have it maybe watching that,
10:00and I can always choose to watch the 4K at a different place.
10:02So, I have myself the new artwork for Sleepaway Camp 2,
10:06and then, of course, I have the Pied Piper release
10:08using the original poster art.
10:11We're going to do the same here as well.
10:13I'm just going to move everything out of the way.
10:15So, we've got Sleepaway Camp 2, Teenage Wasteland.
10:17Again, the original poster art.
10:19She's back to slash last year's record.
10:21If we'd open this up, just to also show you as well,
10:25we're going to cut the case.
10:29I don't believe also that there's no flip-around insert.
10:33I think what you're seeing here is basically what you're going to be getting.
10:36Yeah, as you can see, it's only printed on the one side.
10:39Still, you only have just the 4K UHD release of Sleepaway Camp 3.
10:43You're not getting any other thing besides that.
10:46For Sleepaway Camp 3, new 4K restoration of the 35mm interpositive presented in Dolby Vision.
10:54New return to Sleepaway Camp 3, looking at the making of the film with counselor Jeff Hayes,
10:58author of Sleepaway Camp, making the movie, reigniting the campfire.
11:02New weeding out the bad inside the stunts.
11:05Interview with stunt coordinator Lonnie Smith Jr.
11:07New Angela's greatest hits inside the Sleepaway Camp songs.
11:10Interview with songwriter-performer John Atlin.
11:14Audio commentary with director Michael A. Simpson.
11:17And screenwriter Fritz Gordon.
11:19A tale of two sequels.
11:20Again, part two, New Victims and New Horizons,
11:23featuring interviews with Michael A. Simpson's actor Mark Oliver,
11:27Daryl Witcher, Sandra Dorsey, Kim Wall, and more.
11:31Behind-the-scenes footage, Sleepaway Camp 3 work print from VHS,
11:34deleted scenes, home video trailer,
11:36Tony Lives, short film, and still gallery.
11:39This was released in 1989.
11:43Still, I can't seem to find the run time for this.
11:45But though, I can actually go back to the Pipe Piper release.
11:49Pipe Piper has that showing as also 80 minutes.
11:52I think the other one was 80 minutes too.
11:54So while we have ourselves the original poster art here,
11:57I'm going to make use of the new artwork,
12:00which again does have Angela a little crazier this time around.
12:03But what I really think is cool,
12:05where's my other artwork here?
12:07You can see that if you put the two together,
12:09that's Angela right in the middle.
12:11So it looks clearly like they've done one large image
12:13and then just split it up between the slips.
12:16So let's just get this all going on here.
12:18Now, honestly, I'll level with you guys.
12:22I really, I kind of got away really from the idea of new artwork on slips.
12:26I kind of like the poster art more so.
12:29Because of that, I'm actually glad that they included both versions,
12:32or both versions of the slip covers.
12:34Because if you just prefer to have the regular slip cover,
12:36I think they only have made available for that as well.
12:39If you do want to go with the deluxe version,
12:41or like, I guess the limited edition run,
12:43that's going to give you the both slip covers.
12:44Again, some may just choose to put one of them away.
12:48But again, I think if you have yourself the Pied Piper releases,
12:50you could just easily use them for those.
12:52Let's just get, again, the slip cover going here.
12:57And let's slide this on the case.
12:59And what we had done before, we'll do again.
13:02So again, we'll just slide that on.
13:03Now we've got Sleepaway Camp 2, or Sleepaway Camp 3.
13:06We've got Sleepaway Camp 2.
13:08Put them on the shelf.
13:09Really should then look like this.
13:11You've got the original, well, you've got the new artwork there on the top,
13:13which then, of course, matches the front.
13:16I like that.
13:16I think that's really cool.
13:18They probably could have, well, they likely did it this way,
13:20so that you could still see Angela's eye.
13:22Technically, if you really put the two together,
13:24it looks like Angela has two and a half eyes.
13:27But still nice looking artwork on these.
13:30Then what I'm going to do with this,
13:32is I'm going to take my Pied Piper release,
13:35slide over Sleepaway Camp 3.
13:37And then when it goes to putting it on the shelf,
13:39I'll have myself the two new 4K releases of it,
13:42and then I'll have the two original Blu-rays.
13:46Then, of course, we still have the original Sleepaway Camp.
13:49I don't know what plans really Scream Factory has to release the original Scream Factory
13:53or the original Sleepaway Camp.
13:55Or for that matter, they've really yet to release a proper Blu-ray release,
13:59a return to Sleepaway Camp.
14:00A very dismal movie.
14:02Terrible, terrible sequel.
14:03But if you have already been kind of collecting the Sleepaway Camp movies,
14:06it would be nice to also get a new Blu-ray release of that as well.
14:10So this is basically what this is going to look on my shelf.
14:12The original one, two, and three, all in Blu-rays.
14:15And then I'm going to have the new 4Ks of Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3.
14:19Of course, with that, though, you also get yourself the posters.
14:22Honestly, though, I might just display the original movie posters.
14:25Not really sure if I love the new artwork enough to have it on my walls.
14:29The question really then is asked,
14:31is this worth the price that it was asking for?
14:33I think when it was all in, with the conversion, with the shipping,
14:36all the fun stuff as a Canadian collector, I have to pay.
14:39I want to say it was well within, I think, what, two and a half,
14:42maybe $200, a little bit over than that.
14:45That's a lot, really, honestly.
14:46The fact that it is really only two movies,
14:49and you also get yourself the posters.
14:51I know, yes, you still get yourself the original slipcovers,
14:53but I don't know if that's still worth over $200.
14:56That's a lot for physical media.
14:58I mean, in the end, though, you still get yourself 4Ks,
15:00but I think for the price, really, that Scream Factor were listing these for,
15:04there's nothing at all to say that they couldn't have released these
15:07with the 4Ks and the Blu-rays for each of the releases.
15:11These, by the way, I think also sold separately, too.
15:13So if there's only really one that you want to get over the other,
15:15if you don't love Sleepaway Camp 3,
15:17I don't really love Sleepaway Camp 3.
15:19I think the second one really is the better.
15:21I mean, it's nowhere near the original,
15:22but I think Sleepaway Camp 2 is really the best of the sequels.
15:26What do you guys think of these?
15:27Let me know down below in the comment section.
15:28Do you guys think, really, that Scream Factory and other boutique labels
15:31charge way too much for new physical releases?
15:34The fact, again, that we only have one disc for each copy for each movie
15:38for the price that they were selling it for,
15:40I think it's a little on the high side.
15:42It sort of seems like what Scream Factory is doing
15:44to offset the prices of what they're selling these sets for.
15:47They tend to always throw in posters.
15:49Many may not want the idea of displaying something with a poster.
15:52Many might just feel it's a bit of a tease, unfortunately,
15:55that in order to get these with the new slips,
15:57you have to then invest in getting a poster
15:59that you have no plans at all of ever displaying.
16:02Let me know what you guys think of these down below in the comment section,
16:05and if you have also ordered these for yourself.
16:10If you guys did enjoy this video, certainly do it a solid throw to like.
