00:00 Hello there. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04 As we head towards the weekend, our attention turns to this area of cloud that is spiralling
00:09 its way across areas of the Atlantic. And that's because pretty much like all weekend
00:14 so far in July, low pressure is returning and it's pushing its way steadily towards
00:19 the UK, particularly centring itself to the northwest. But those ice bars squeezing, so
00:23 some quite blustery winds throughout much of the weekend and those weather fronts also
00:28 starting to bring in some showers as well. Throughout this evening and overnight, initially
00:31 across Northern Ireland and into Western Scotland, parts of Western England and Wales as well.
00:36 Also the potential that we see a little feature push across southeast England as well. Some
00:39 of that rain could be heavy at times, some slight uncertainty in regards to the exact
00:43 positioning of that. But do just be aware there could be some heavy outbursts first
00:46 thing on Saturday morning. It's also in the southeast where we hold on to a bit more in
00:50 the humidity, so temperatures not dropping much below 15, 16 degrees Celsius, quite muggy
00:55 in places. But further towards the west, it will be feeling that bit fresher temperatures
01:00 dropping down to around 12, 13 degrees Celsius. Saturday then turns into a day of sunshine
01:06 and showers for the vast majority of us. But with those blustery winds that are in place
01:09 because of 30, 35 miles per hour along some coastal areas in particular, those showers
01:14 will be pushing through at quite a pace that will allow some sunny spells again to develop
01:18 in between. So not a complete washout, but very towards Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
01:23 closer to the centre of that low pressure centre. That's where we'll see the most frequent
01:27 showers and they could also be rather heavy with some thunderstorms and hail throughout
01:31 the day as well. So do just take care of any torrential downpours and potential surface
01:35 water issues. If you do manage to see some of those sunnier spells in between, temperatures
01:40 will range around 17 to 23 degrees Celsius. So slightly down compared to where we did
01:47 see them on Friday and in that breeze as well. It is going to feel relatively cool out there
01:51 also. For the bulk of England and Wales, most of those showers will ease off as we do head
01:57 into Saturday evening. So turning largely dry, a good chunk of late evening sunshine
02:02 to enjoy. Still a few probably lingering across Western areas, but for Northern Ireland, Central
02:06 Southern Scotland and eventually into Northwest England as well. Showers will be continuing
02:10 throughout the night. Again, could be heavy in places.
02:13 How is the North East Scotland once early rain sort of clears its way off parts of Shetland?
02:19 It will turn drier here and winds will also be lightest as the centre of that low pressure
02:23 centre moves across us. But elsewhere, those blustery winds will be continuing throughout
02:27 the night. That's going to help mix up the air. So again, temperatures won't be dropping
02:31 too far at all, ranging between 12, 14 degrees Celsius, but at least probably feeling that
02:36 bit fresher compared to the night before across parts of southeastern England. As we move
02:41 into Sunday, this area of low pressure that's centred across Northern Scotland is going
02:44 to stay with us, sort of slowly drift its way eastwards. But we're also going to see
02:49 a second area of low pressure start to push its way in from the west. So some uncertainty
02:54 is still on the exact timing of this, but we could start to see some longer spells of
02:59 rain push its way into southwest England, Wales, as we do for ahead throughout the day.
03:03 So quite a damp end. A few showers again pushing across southeastern England, but it's going
03:07 to be Northern England, parts of southern central Scotland where those are most frequent
03:11 on Sunday. Again, could be heavy in places, parts of north east Scotland, seeing more
03:15 in the way of those sunny spells and generally once again, those lighter winds still feeling
03:21 rather cool elsewhere where we've got those blustery winds still in place. And again,
03:26 temperatures ranging between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius. Do keep up to date with the full
03:31 forecast as we do head towards the weekend and those sort of slight nuances that we do
03:35 need to get in place. And you can always check our latest updates across our social media
03:40 channels on our app as well. And we'll be back here with you again very shortly. Bye
03:44 bye.
