This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the next 10 days 15/04/2026. After a week of April showers high pressure moves in this weekend lasting well into next week. For many the start of next week will be dry but how warm it gets will depend on sunshine, which could come at a bit of a premium. Bringing you this 10 day weather forecast is Annie Shuttleworth.

00:00Those of us after some more prolonged dry weather, well I've got some good news for you because from this
00:05weekend high pressure is set to dominate for a few days at least.
00:09At the moment we've got pretty mild air with us but also low pressure across the UK that's resulted in
00:15spells of wet weather and showers and there's more of that to come through the rest of this week.
00:19Low pressure arrives through Friday into Saturday but then through the weekend we start to see high pressure building up
00:26from the south and west becoming more dominant across the UK by Sunday and it will last into next week
00:34as well.
00:34More on that in a moment as I said for the time being through the rest of this week we've
00:38still got low pressure to come further spells of wet weather.
00:42Now through Thursday the wet weather will be dominant across more north-western areas.
00:46There is a risk of showers further south but I think it should be a much drier day compared to
00:51Wednesday.
00:52In any sunshine feeling relatively warm, highs of around 16 degrees in the best of that sunshine but for most
00:59of us temperatures will be pretty close to average.
01:01As I said more in the way of showers across more north-western areas, here they could be relatively heavy
01:06too.
01:07And then through Thursday evening we start to see some more persistent rain move in.
01:11That's ahead of this area of low pressure that brings wet and windy weather to many areas through Friday.
01:17So quite a damp evening, we've got the warm front with us so under that warm sector will be quite
01:22a cloudy and damp night Thursday night.
01:25So another mild start to the day to come on Friday.
01:29And then it's Friday where this area of low pressure pushes up to the north and west of the UK.
01:33It doesn't push across the country so we should escape the strongest winds but it's still going to be a
01:38pretty windy day particularly across the north and west.
01:41And this cold front is where we'll see the heaviest rain.
01:44Pretty similar to Wednesday's weather actually.
01:46A spell of wet weather pushing across the country through the middle of the day.
01:51Now either side of that band of rain there will be some sunshine.
01:53It's not going to feel too bad in that sunshine at all.
01:55Either highs around the high teens for some of us.
01:59A little bit cooler where we're closer to that area of low pressure.
02:02Because we'll have slightly fresh air behind this cold front.
02:05But also because the winds will be stronger here.
02:09Here's a look at the gusts through Friday.
02:11As I said we escaped the strongest gusts across much of the country.
02:14But parts of Northern Ireland and the far west of Scotland could see winds and gusts up to 50 possibly
02:2160 miles per hour.
02:22So it's one to keep an eye on if you're in these areas.
02:24It's going to be certainly an unsettled day.
02:26But then things become more settled through Saturday.
02:31So high pressure is starting to build in from the south and west.
02:34It's a slow process at first.
02:37But then it does last into the start of next week.
02:40So Saturday looks like a showery day for northern areas.
02:44Across the south though it's going to be a pretty dry day.
02:47Plenty of sunshine as well.
02:50Particularly across more eastern areas of England.
02:53And in that sunshine temperatures once again climbing towards the high teens.
02:58Further north temperatures much closer to 10 or 11 degrees.
03:01So a little bit disappointing.
03:02Still quite a brisk westerly wind.
03:06So still some unsettled weather to start the weekend across more northern areas.
03:10The sunshine starting to become more dominant across the south through Saturday.
03:15It's from Sunday though that high pressure starts to dominate from the south.
03:20Pushing northwards to extend across the whole country by the end of Sunday.
03:25It's slightly cooler air.
03:26So it's not going to be particularly warm out of the sunshine.
03:29But it does look like it will last well into next week as well.
03:34It does bring with it a risk of some northerly winds for a time.
03:37So perhaps some showers across north eastern coasts.
03:40But for most of us plenty of dry weather to come.
03:44How long is this high pressure going to stick with us?
03:46Well it's likely to stay with us until at least the middle part of next week.
03:51And there is a good chance that it could last into next weekend as well.
03:55However from around Thursday onwards there's pretty much equal waiting between more settled and more unsettled weather.
04:03But until Wednesday what does that mean for the weather across the UK?
04:07Well there is a lot of dry weather to come.
04:11Easterly winds however not a particularly warm direction.
04:15So out of the sunshine it's not going to be particularly warm.
04:19The best of the sunshine likely to be across western areas.
04:22Parts of Wales, south west England, western Scotland and northern Ireland.
04:26Seeing the best of that sunshine.
04:28Across the east coast we could start to see some sea fog.
04:31And haar across the hearts of the east coast of Scotland as well.
04:35Bringing particularly cold mornings.
04:38So without that sunshine it's going to feel a little bit cool for the time of year.
04:42But in the sunshine, pretty warm to be honest.
04:44The strength of the sun is equal to late August at this time of year.
04:49But that does mean we could also have some colder nights.
04:52Particularly across northern areas we haven't quite escaped any risk of frost.
04:57But plenty of dry weather wherever you are to come next week.
05:01So by Wednesday these are the most likely weather patterns across the UK.
05:06And you can see all of them have an easterly component to them.
05:11There are some slight differences between them.
05:13The highest probability is for that high pressure to be situated slightly further north.
05:18Bringing in quite straight easterly winds.
05:20We've also got a likelihood of seeing that high pressure up to more eastern areas of the UK.
05:27Bringing in either a south easterly or if it's to the west a north easterly.
05:32So slight shifts of how much of a southerly or a northerly wind could affect quite how warm or cold
05:38it is.
05:39But I think with either of these directions, with the sunshine it's going to feel pretty pleasant.
05:45But in the cloud I think you will be missing the sunshine.
05:49And we do continue to hold on to that risk of cloudier skies across eastern areas throughout the week.
05:56What happens beyond that?
05:57Of course this is the 10 day trend.
05:59We go out further than just a week ahead.
06:01Well that's where we start to lose confidence because this area of high pressure starts to move.
06:07And the direction it starts to move, well that really does impact the possible outcomes.
06:12Now these are the most likely outcomes for Saturday the 25th of April.
06:16Notice all of them about 10 to 15% chance.
06:20All pretty low and all pretty different as well.
06:23But these are the sorts of things we could expect by that point.
06:27Or we could have that high pressure well up to the north and west of the UK and that could
06:33allow more north northerly winds to push in.
06:36Which could mean it could turn quite unsettled but also quite cold.
06:40There's also this option where we could see that high pressure push to the north and west of the UK.
06:47But allow more directly northerly winds which could bring even colder air.
06:52Or we could hold on to those easterly winds through next week and with high pressure pretty close to the
06:58UK too.
06:59So I think it's really all to play for depending on how that high and low start to move around.
07:05Depending on where that high pushes away to.
07:08And it's worth noting this because it's still pretty cold air not too far away from the UK.
07:13So if it does allow a more direct northerly wind well we could still get some quite cold weather.
07:17But if we stick with high pressure and more southerly winds perhaps well we could get warmer weather.
07:23So there is a lot of variety in the options for the temperature from the end of next week into
07:29next weekend.
07:29And you can see that with the meteograms here.
07:33This is the maximum temperature and here is the minimum temperature.
07:36This one's for Edinburgh.
07:37I'll show you London in just a second.
07:40So you can see here for the weekend from the weekend onwards the maximum temperatures do take a bit of
07:45a downfall from the weekend.
07:47I think with any sunshine though it's going to feel a little bit warmer than these temperatures might suggest.
07:52We'll be average or just above average.
07:54And then from Wednesday onwards there's a huge spread in options to below average to quite high above quite far
08:02above average.
08:03It's worth noting as well the risk of colder nights as well and continues all the way through until next
08:10weekend.
08:11So those of us concerned with frost I think we still need to keep an eye on things particularly if
08:15you're out in the garden.
08:16And here's London's picture.
08:18It's relatively similar but we don't develop quite as much of a spread into next week.
08:24The latter part of next week into next weekend.
08:27We haven't got as many of those colder options.
08:30That's because we'll be further away from that cold air up to the north of the UK close to the
08:35Arctic.
08:36And similar picture for the minimums as well.
08:39That bottom line there of the minimum still reaching the low single figures.
08:43So I think any frost risk is pretty minimal for southern areas into next week.
08:47It's more northern areas where we need to keep an eye on it.
08:50So some good news for good weather, dry weather, some reliable dry weather at least for four or five days
08:58from this weekend into next week.
09:00Hopefully you can make the most of that.
09:01How long it's going to last?
09:03Well you'll have to stay up to date.
09:04We'll be keeping an eye on it and keeping you up to date.
