00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian Janesweather update for Thursday.
00:04We have another cold outbreak that is moving through.
00:07It's most felt in Tasmania where there is snow down as low as 500 metres
00:12but all of this speckled cloud in through here tells us that our temperatures are
00:16on the roller coaster on that downward part of it. So this is the coldest that it's going
00:20to get. However, there is a lot of rain that is in the outlook. There remains
00:24a cyclone fiend. You can just see the cloud that is up in through there.
00:27And they's headed our way. The leftovers, the moist remains of that
00:31are going to meet up with low pressure and move through. So here's Thursday.
00:35There's our cold air that moves away from Tasmania later in the day. We're just getting
00:39a little bit of wet weather here from the southwest over to western parts of Gippsland.
00:43Have a look at Friday. There's that moist remains pouring into the next trough that comes
00:47through. So during the day on Friday, we'll start to see that develop in the west
00:51and then continue through as we go into Saturday. So that is a big
00:55punch of rain for us Friday into Saturday. After that, there's more. As we go into Sunday,
01:00the next cold outbreak starts to come up. So this moves through on Sunday, then into
01:05Monday, then into Tuesday. So Friday into Saturday, then Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. After
01:12that, high pressure is in. Moving through by Wednesday into Thursday. So things are looking
01:16much calmer to end next week and conditions will warm up as well. This is going to add up
01:21to quite a bit. So from Thursday to next Thursday, 25 to 50 millimetres across the vast majority
01:27of Victoria here, 15 to 25. So the far northwest really isn't missing out from this one, from
01:33the one-two punch on Friday into Saturday, then Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. There may even
01:38be bigger falls if we're in the western parts of Gippsland and up on the ranges and maybe
01:42even over in the east too. So there is a lot of rain that is coming over the next week.
01:46What does that mean for Melbourne? We're going on a very interesting trek. Sunshine increasing
01:52during the afternoon, but we are on the cold side, mainly thanks to the wind. On Friday,
01:57temperatures jump up. It's dry all through the day. Let's have a look at this in action.
02:01This does not arrive until very late afternoon and into the evening. So lots of sunshine and
02:07warm conditions during the day on Friday. It turns at night. Let's then have a look at
02:11Saturday. That's our wet day. Lots of rain all through the early hours and into the morning
02:16and into the afternoon, and then it starts to clear out. So Saturday is looking quite
02:21soggy. Let's have a look at Sunday. A bit of a break overnight. Then it comes back as
02:26that next weather system begins. So lots of showers pushing through. That continues on
02:30Monday. Showers tend to rain at times. That continues on Tuesday, and we're chilly in
02:36there as well. Let's go back and have a look at our temperatures here. 17, 15, 17. All of
02:42that ends on Tuesday afternoon, and it's a very different picture by Wednesday. Wednesday
02:47should be lovely and Thursday lovely too. So we've got all of that to get through, but
02:51there are some nice conditions on the horizon. As always, head to your follow online weather
02:55for the latest.
