00:02Hello it is Sunday the 23rd of August and this is your weather update for Tasmania you can see
00:07this cold air cumulus cloud behind the current fronts that are moving through the state in the
00:12weekend with that really cold windy wet conditions currently you know hanging out in the state they
00:19definitely ease for the next few days before the next bout of rain arrives on Tuesday so let's go
00:23through that all right this is the current wind warnings so you've got coastal wind warnings for
00:28Sunday and into Monday intensifying down in the south there if we have a look at the day by day
00:33this is Sunday's rainfall accumulation it's a common signature that we see at this time of year
00:39we've got rainfall on the west coast and dry in the east coast and this is what we're going to
00:42see for
00:43most of the days ahead so similar for Monday here you can see this cut off low that's delivering a
00:49lot of the rainfall in the southeast and then on Tuesday it comes across and that delivers most
00:54of the rain for the week sort of five to ten mils across the more populated areas in Tassie and
01:00even
01:00some showers two to five mils or one to two if you're on the east coast there by Wednesday it
01:06starts
01:06to weaken and back to that sort of signature of west coast rain east coast dry and that hangs around
01:12for
01:12most of the days there is if we sort of you can't see it gets cut off from the wind
01:17field view here this
01:18is another little low system that's moving across and going to deliver some stronger wind um here's
01:24our Thursday our Friday and our Saturday and Sunday so you can see that sort of signature is there for
01:30most of the days it's just Tuesday but we're going to get some wider extent rainfall there um it's on
01:34this Wednesday you can see that there are some strong wind fields coming through especially towards
01:39the um end of the week here you go this is Thursday you can see the sort of 63 to
01:4390 kilometer hour
01:44gusts but we'll have a look at that as we go through our detailed breakdown of Olverston it
01:48just is a little bit easier to see that wind pattern story okay Sunday and Monday sort of
01:55light showers and drizzles for Tuesday the most intense rainfall seven mils um and as you can see
02:01here on our pro version that we've got most of the models showing this rainfall the Canadian models not
02:06showing anywhere near as much as the Australian and the US and the EU models so definitely some
02:11rainfall on the way but not as intense as last week's Wednesday rainfall I was visiting a friend
02:15down in Tassie and oh my goodness that was a very wet day up in the northwest um so yeah
02:21not like that
02:22this this week um Wednesday you can see it clears out and then the same sort of story for Thursday
02:27Friday Sunday Sunday and Monday um Thursday it's Friday here that you can see we start to get some
02:33stronger wind gusts and it lasts into Saturday as well and then it should ease by Sunday um having a
02:40look
02:40at the minimum temperatures they're not particularly low except for Thursday as the high pressure system
02:44moves through so on Thursday there's definitely a chance of frost up in the um northwest region but
02:51I would say across the state in general the chance of frost and fog intensifies towards the end of the
02:57week and we can see that in our um sort of temperature fields I'll move through to our Thursday morning
03:05temperatures which never cooperates with me when I do it there we go down here as you can see across
03:10most of the state we're in that zero to five degrees um band or if you're up in you know
03:15sort
03:15of cradle mountain region negative five to zero degrees so definitely a wide chance of frost and fog
03:19towards the end of the week there as you can see when we zoom out we've got this high sitting
03:24over
03:24us bringing that sort of settled weather all right so that is the rainfall um and sort of weather story
03:30this week for Tassie you can see that same signature pattern of west coast rainfall and a drier east
03:35coast have a great week stay safe and we'll see you next time
