00:00Hello, very good day to you. The high pressure which has been in control of our weather through this week
00:05is still largely dominant, but it's quite a cloudy high now and there's some rain with that as well.
00:11Looking at the earlier satellite and radar imagery, you can see a lot of cloud across many parts of the
00:16country and we had a bit of rain here and there, a swathed more persistent rain across central areas feeding
00:21into the Republic of Ireland.
00:22So we go through this afternoon with quite a grey picture for many places, a lot of thick clouds, some
00:28sunshine, yes, towards the northwest, perhaps also Cornwall seeing some sunshine, but generally cloudy skies for many of us and
00:35with that cloud then a few spots of rain here and there with some persistent, not particularly heavy, but persistent
00:41rain affecting the East Midlands and parts of East Anglia as well.
00:44With that cloud, even though temperatures are going to be around average for the time of year, it's going to
00:49feel fairly cold at times, despite the fact that the winds are generally going to be quite light.
00:54Do watch out for some heavier showers developing across parts of the south-southwest. They could even perhaps turn a
00:59bit thundery at times.
01:01Then, as we go through the rest of Friday and into Saturday, the high pressure which has been in control
01:06is clearing away towards the East, but it's going very slowly and we have this lingering occluded front across us.
01:13So that's going to bring some more cloud and some more persistent, but still quite light rain across some central,
01:18later northern parts of England and that rain feeds into Northern Ireland as we go overnight.
01:23Then through the night, we sort of end up with a north-south split, quite cloudy, a few outbreaks of
01:29rain across northern parts.
01:30Further south, we have clearer skies, drier weather, albeit still some of those coastal showers across southern areas and they
01:36are feeding a little bit further eastwards through the night as well.
01:40Where we get those clear skies across some central southern areas, we're going to see temperatures dropping.
01:45Rural spots could drop a little bit below freezing, so some frost quite likely.
01:50And with that then, also some mist and fog patches could be dense in places, even some freezing fog where
01:55we see the fog forming and those temperatures below freezing.
01:58But it's going to be a bit milder further north with the cloud, less likely to see mist and fog
02:02developing here.
02:04Across those central southern areas, that mist and fog could be quite slow to clear, but it should clear late
02:10morning, early afternoon for many places.
02:12And then it's looking a lot brighter than today across those parts.
02:15We do need to watch out for those showers, though, still across southern areas and they are feeding further eastwards,
02:20affecting some coastal parts of Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, for example.
02:24Further north, quite cloudy still, there will still be that lingering occluded front, bringing some persistent, albeit light, but persistent
02:31rain across northeast England, perhaps into some southern parts of Scotland as well.
02:35And for Northern Ireland and other areas of Scotland, the cloud will be bringing a few spots of rain too.
02:41Temperatures, if anything, will be a little bit down compared to today.
02:45Most places still scraping into double digits, but despite the sunshine in the south, so brighter, sunnier skies, yes, those
02:51temperatures on paper at least will be a little bit lower.
02:55As we go through the end of the day on Saturday, we stick with more cloud across northern parts, more
03:01damp weather to come here.
03:02Central southern areas having the drier weather, not totally dry, a few showery bursts here and there, but drier weather
03:08with clearer skies.
03:09And so, again, we're going to see some mist and fog developing here.
03:13It could be a bit more widespread, could be even denser on Sunday morning compared to Saturday morning.
03:18So do watch out for that.
03:19And, again, it could be quite slow to clear.
03:21Otherwise, that occluded front does eventually break up and ease.
03:25And so, for many, it's looking a bit drier, really, on Sunday compared to Saturday.
03:29Not that Saturday is looking especially wet, but Sunday is looking a bit drier, a little bit less rain around,
03:34a few spots of rain here and there,
03:35especially in the east-northeast where the cloud will be quite thick, western southern areas having a bit more in
03:41the way of bright, sunny weather.
03:43And temperatures, well, still around average, maybe a little bit below in some places, obviously, where you get the sunshine
03:48and the lighter winds.
03:49That will help make it feel a little bit warmer, perhaps, than these temperatures otherwise suggest.
03:55Later on, as we go through into next week, well, it starts on a relatively calm note, but there is
03:59more changeable weather to come.
04:01So definitely worth staying on top of that.
04:03I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
