00:00Hello, very good evening to you. It has been another pretty remarkably warm day for the time of year across
00:06southern areas, but things are going to change through the next 24 hours.
00:11The front, which is forming the boundary between the fresher air in the north and the warmer in the south,
00:15that is pushing south and eastwards.
00:17It is going to bring a fair amount of rain to many parts of England and Wales, but as well
00:21as that, as it clears away, we get that fresher air coming in,
00:24and so temperatures are going to drop through Wednesday and also into Thursday.
00:30Back to the here and now then, and it's a damp end of the day across some northern parts of
00:34England, north Wales, even parts of the Midlands,
00:36and then overnight outbreaks of rain also come up from the south, and we get these two zones of wet
00:40weather merging together.
00:42So by the end of the night, across much of England and Wales, well, it's going to be cloudy and
00:46it's going to be pretty wet.
00:47Further north, it's a drier picture, clearer skies across eastern and southern parts of Scotland, also eastern parts of Northern
00:54Ireland,
00:54but were more western areas, well, here it's going to be quite showery, and some of those showers could be
00:59heavy.
01:00Now, where we get the clearer skies, it is going to be a bit of a chilly night.
01:03Don't be surprised if there's a touch of frost in rural spots over parts of Scotland,
01:07and even the towns and cities likely to drop into single figures here.
01:10But with the cloud and the rain across England and Wales, well, many places staying in double digits.
01:15So it's going to be milder, albeit quite a wet start to the day tomorrow for many here.
01:21So further rain to come for England and Wales through the morning.
01:24It is going to turn a bit heavier, and it's going to be quite persistent,
01:27especially across central and then eastern areas as that front shifts its way eastwards.
01:32The rainfall totals really are going to build up.
01:35We could see maybe 40 to 60 millimetres across some parts, especially towards Kent,
01:40and a lot of that could come in just a few hours.
01:42So don't be surprised if there are some impacts, and watch out for spray on the roads as well.
01:48Further west, we see drier, brighter weather, but again, not totally dry.
01:52A fair amount of showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:54and some showers feeding into western parts of England and Wales.
01:57But there will also be some sunny spells in between those showers.
02:01Despite the sunny spells, definitely a fresher feel.
02:04I mentioned that fresher air that's coming in.
02:06Yes, temperatures are going to be several degrees down compared to today for many places.
02:11In the north, less noticeable.
02:12But in the south, well, it's going to be around 5, 6, maybe as low as 7 or 8 degrees
02:19colder on Wednesday than it was on Tuesday.
02:22As a result, especially when you factor in that wet weather in the southeast, well, feeling pretty unpleasant.
02:28More autumnal than it has done recently.
02:31That rain in the southeast does eventually clear away as we head through the evening.
02:35Then we need to watch out for some showers.
02:37Yes, in the west, but also some showers piling down through the North Sea.
02:40Around Lincolnshire, maybe the northern parts of Norfolk as well, we could see some heavier ones.
02:45And so some significant rain could be building up here, especially when you take into account the heavier rain that
02:51came earlier on.
02:52But generally, we have a ridge of high-pressure buildings, and most places will have a dry night, lots of
02:58clear skies.
02:58And with calmer conditions with the clear skies, the dry weather, mostly light winds, well, it is going to be
03:04a bit chillier.
03:05A chillier night, for sure, for many places than we've had recently, especially in the south.
03:09In the north, well, we're having a chillier night through this night to come.
03:13Then after a fine start for most places, lots of sunshine, much of the UK will stick with that theme
03:19through the majority of the day.
03:21But further west, Northern Ireland, well, here it's going to turn cloudy, and it's going to turn wet, particularly as
03:25we go through the afternoon.
03:27And some of that cloud and rain will push into far western parts of Scotland, England, and Wales as well.
03:32Central and eastern parts, though, staying mostly dry and sunny, just a few showers, perhaps, for East Anglia in particular.
03:38It is going to still be, well, fresher, for sure.
03:41Temperatures mid to possibly high teens Celsius.
03:44Now, that is a significant drop to how we started the week, but these temperatures are only around maybe a
03:49little bit below average for this stage in October.
03:52That rain then sweeps its way through as we go through later Thursday and overnight into Friday, so a pretty
03:59wet night to come for many of us Thursday night.
04:02That rain clears away through Friday itself, but there is more rain to come at times, and the showers piling
04:08in, quite blustery showers, really, through the end of Friday and into the weekend.
04:13A fairly blustery, showery picture for many of us, especially towards the northwest, at least on Saturday.
04:19Perhaps Sunday may be a little bit calmer to start, at least.
04:22We'll have more details about that as we get nearer the time.
04:25But if you want to know more about, well, everything that's going on with our weather, do check out our
04:29deep dive, which I honour Chris Wick's bringing to you this week.
04:32Bye-bye.
