00:00Hello again, very good evening to you. The unsettled weather that we've had through the last few days and through
00:05much of today, that's now starting to ease.
00:08The very deep area of low pressure that did rapidly deepen as it came close to the UK is now
00:14clearing away towards the north.
00:16We have high pressure building from the south and we're in between those two features.
00:20The tightly packed isobars indicating it is still blustery as we go into Wednesday and there will be some showers
00:25feeding through.
00:26But as that high pressure becomes more dominant as we head towards Thursday, well, things should calm down quite nicely.
00:33Back to the here and now and a showery picture towards the north and the west in particular through the
00:38end of the day on Tuesday.
00:39Some of those showers merging to a longer spell of rain across parts of Scotland, maybe clipping Northern Ireland and
00:44feeding into Northern England and North Wales later in the night.
00:47Towards the southeast of the UK, here it should actually be largely dry with clear skies and as a result
00:53it will be a little bit fresher, a little bit chillier perhaps,
00:55than last night for elsewhere towards the northwest, temperatures not dropping a huge amount because even though the winds are
01:02easing,
01:02there will still be a breeze around and there's cloud and there's rain around as well.
01:06So a bit of a northwest-southeast split to start the day tomorrow.
01:10Cloudier wetter towards the northwest, some fairly persistent rain across Northern England, parts of Wales through the morning.
01:16But that will feed further south and eastwards and it's going to break up as it goes.
01:20So really not a huge amount of rain, if any, arriving in some southeastern parts where it should be a
01:24fine day with some bright sunny spells at times.
01:27Otherwise, we're looking at some showers really as we go through the afternoon.
01:31The showers perhaps not as frequent, not as heavy, less likely to be thundery compared to the ones that we've
01:36seen through much of Tuesday.
01:37And they will still rattle through on a fairly brisk breeze, but the winds aren't going to be as strong
01:42as they have been of late,
01:43most notably across northern parts where they have been quite damaging.
01:47Temperatures are above average for the time of year.
01:50In the wind, it's going to feel fresher than this.
01:52But in the shelter from the breeze, in any sunshine, it's actually going to feel, well, relatively warm, considering it
01:58is late October.
02:01The showers will continue for a little while yet.
02:03Like I said, they're not especially heavy.
02:05And actually, as that high pressure builds in through Wednesday night and into Thursday,
02:09most of the showers are going to east.
02:11Not all of them, still a few for parts of Wales, maybe clipping towards the Isle of Man and some
02:16western parts of Scotland.
02:17Can't even rule out some showers towards some southern counties of England.
02:20But generally, it's going to be quite dry through the night.
02:23The thing that we need to be aware of, though, hazard-wise, is the potential for some fog to develop.
02:29There could be some radiation fog where we get clear skies, and there could be some thicker low cloud developing.
02:34Either way, there could be some poor visibility, which could cause some issues on the roads.
02:38First thing on Thursday morning.
02:40Not an especially chilly night.
02:42Temperatures for many holding up in the very high single figures, perhaps even double digits in some coastal spots.
02:47So, yeah, then those temperatures aren't especially low for the time of year.
02:51So it could be a bit of a slow start for some of us on Thursday.
02:55Any mist and murk, low cloud, fog, that will gradually clear as we go through the morning.
03:00So things will brighten up.
03:01There's likely to be a bit of showery rain across some parts of Scotland, initially across the borders area,
03:07but feeding into more central parts through the day.
03:09Otherwise, you can't rule out the odd spot of rain, but on the whole, it's looking largely dry.
03:14Some decent bright weather as well, especially towards the east.
03:17That's where it's going to be often quite sunny.
03:20Temperatures still, well, similar to Wednesday, really.
03:23Low to mid-teens for most of us.
03:24The wind's easing further, and with the winds coming up from the south, still feeling, for the time of year,
03:30pretty mild,
03:31if not even warm, especially in that sunshine.
03:34That high pressure is going to continue to dominate as we go towards, well, Halloween and also into the weekend.
03:40So we do need to be aware of the potential for some foggy nights,
03:43but at least during the daytime, it's going to be largely dry for many,
03:47especially closer towards the high pressure.
03:49There is a front which is likely to come in through Friday,
03:52and that could bring some wet weather across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
03:55But exactly how quickly that's going to progress its way in, well, that's a bit uncertain.
04:00For more information about that, check out the 10-day trend, which I'll be bringing to you tomorrow.
04:04Bye-bye.
