This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 26/10/2026. Strong winds and heavy downpours dominate the weather at the start of the week but things look like settling down for the second half and then what about Halloween? Bringing you this week’s weather forecast is Alex Deakin.

00:00Welcome to your forecast for the final week of October from the Met Office.
00:04And if you're watching on YouTube, well, don't forget to hit subscribe.
00:07After a fairly wild start to the week, things will be switching around quite dramatically.
00:11By the end of the week, it's looking a lot calmer, the winds will be lighter,
00:14and we'll have bigger problems with mist and fog rather than wet and windy weather.
00:20But to start the week, well, he's saying goodbye to Storm Bulow.
00:23There is another area of low pressure, and look at the number of isobars across the chart.
00:27Still very blustery on Monday night and indeed for much of Tuesday.
00:31But if we fast forward to Friday, we'll see a big switcheroo.
00:35High pressure is now controlling things.
00:37The isobars much more spaced out, and the winds as a result will be quite a bit lighter.
00:42So that's the end of the week.
00:44But certainly to begin with, we've got this area of low pressure and these weather fronts sweeping in,
00:49bringing some really wild conditions through Monday night and Tuesday.
00:53Met Office yellow warnings remain in place.
00:55This weather front, an active cold front swinging across the country,
00:59bringing some heavy downpours in the morning across Lincolnshire, down towards Hampshire,
01:04and that spell of rain will zip through quite quickly through the morning rush hour,
01:08but generate quite a lot of spray and surface water.
01:11Gusty winds everywhere, but particularly on the north coast of Northern Ireland
01:14and across Scotland with the strongest winds through Tuesday across the far north.
01:19Gusts here likely to reach 60, 70 miles an hour, and after the recent storms,
01:24well, it could cause a few issues.
01:26So we do have that yellow warning in place, covering, as I say, much of Scotland,
01:29the north coast of Northern Ireland.
01:31Further south, it'll still be quite a boisterous day, blustery, gusty.
01:35We start with that early rain.
01:36It turns sunny, but a whole host of showers come whizzing in on that gusty wind.
01:41They should zip through because of the strength of the wind.
01:43And when the sun's out, temperatures getting up to about average, maybe a touch above along the south coast,
01:48but generally feeling quite cool, I suspect, in those winds across Scotland
01:51with the frequent showers here and the gusty nature of those winds,
01:55which take a while to ease down the warning in place into Tuesday evening
01:59before the low finally pulls away.
02:01High pressures trying to build in at this stage, but still for Wednesday,
02:05weather fronts and still quite a few isobars, certainly across the northern half of the UK.
02:09Another pretty breezy day, another fairly cloudy start with some outbreaks of rain.
02:14Shouldn't be too heavy.
02:15Much of southern England, eastern England looking dry and bright for most of Wednesday as well.
02:21Some sunny spells lifting those temperatures.
02:22Again, a touch above average for the latter part of October, getting to 16 or 17 Celsius.
02:28Probably a milder feeling day, certainly for Scotland and Northern Ireland,
02:32northern England with those winds a little bit lighter.
02:34But there will be some showers around here throughout Wednesday.
02:38It's really Wednesday night into Thursday that high pressure starts to establish itself.
02:43The isobars spread apart, meaning the winds fall light.
02:45And of course, at this time of year, the light winds and after all the moisture we've seen
02:50from the stormy weather recently, well, that could spell misty, foggy mornings.
02:55And that fog may take a while to clear.
02:58So light winds for most, particularly across the central and eastern areas,
03:01close to the centre of the high.
03:02Still a bit of a breeze in the west.
03:03You might see one or two light showers moving through.
03:06Most places will be dry.
03:08Well, great news, of course, across the south.
03:09We still need the rain here.
03:11Temperature wise, well, if the fog sticks for much of the morning,
03:15we may struggle to get these values.
03:17But where it does brighten up, we should again climb into the teens.
03:20Not a great deal of change by the time we get to Friday.
03:23High pressure well and truly ensconced across the east.
03:26But weather front is just trying to nudge in.
03:28A bit of uncertainty on the timing of this and when it will bring cloud and some rain into western
03:33Scotland
03:34or perhaps northern Ireland during Friday.
03:36So it could turn wet again here.
03:38Again, for most of England and Wales, it looks dry.
03:40Should be some sunny spells around.
03:42But again, close to the centre of the high, central and eastern England.
03:46Some stubborn fog patches which could linger for a good few hours, certainly through the morning.
03:51By the afternoon, though, should be brightening up with sunny spells and light winds.
03:55Again, those temperatures, 13 to 15, maybe 16 Celsius along the south coast.
03:59That weather front then likely to generate a bit of a north-south split as we go into the weekend.
04:05The Saturday, of course, Halloween.
04:07This weather front may provide some outbreaks of rain across northern Britain for Saturday night.
04:12Meanwhile, the high pressure is still controlling things across the south.
04:15Potential for things to be a bit misty and a bit murky for Halloween.
04:19So that might add to the atmosphere a little bit.
04:22If you do have plans for Saturday night, then keep up to date with the forecast as we go through
04:26this week.
04:27As I said at the start, best way to do that, if you're watching on YouTube, just hit subscribe.
