00:00Hello again. We've had some heavier bursts of rain, even some rumbles of thunder in a few places already today.
00:06A bit more of that to come through the next few hours, but then things will be turning drier for
00:11a period of time
00:12because there is this ridge of high pressure that builds in.
00:15But then a weather system arrives from the west. That's going to bring some heavy rain,
00:19some strong winds, particularly to Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland, through tomorrow.
00:24That system, though, will clear through overnight into Thursday, with then a ridge of high pressure,
00:30an area of high pressure building from the southwest. More on that in a second.
00:34Back to the here and now. And yes, some heavy bursts of rain, a bit of thunder across some parts
00:38of Northern England,
00:39parts of Scotland and some sherry bursts of rain elsewhere through the rest of today and the start of the
00:44night.
00:45But overnight, a lot of that rain will clear away and break up.
00:48And so it is going to turn largely dry, not totally dry.
00:51There will be a few outbreaks of rain across parts of Northern Ireland, some central western parts of Scotland,
00:58perhaps parts of Wales and a few parts of western and northern England as well could see a few spots
01:03of rain.
01:03But across more central eastern parts, well, it's looking largely dry by the early hours of tomorrow morning.
01:09And there will be some clear skies here, a bit cloudier further west.
01:12Despite the clear skies and generally light winds, well, temperatures won't drop a huge amount.
01:17Most places towards the south, staying in mid-teens and we're looking at low teens or just about double digits
01:23towards the north.
01:24So not a fresh night by any means.
01:27Into tomorrow morning and it's a bit of a cloudy start for some western areas, brighter across the east.
01:32But yes, in the west, cloud thick enough for a few spots of rain and actually many places turning cloudier
01:38through the morning.
01:39In the east, we'll see those cloudy skies building further west, parts of Wales, southwest England, actually here.
01:45There's a good chance of seeing a bit more sunshine by the afternoon.
01:48But a bigger talking point is this wet and windy weather that comes in across northwestern parts.
01:54Through the afternoon, turning wet and windy across Northern Ireland and that rain feeding into perhaps northwest England,
01:59but also some western and later central parts of Scotland.
02:02Now, initially, the rain may not be particularly heavy, could be quite intermittent as well,
02:07but it is going to turn heavier and more persistent as that system pushes in and the winds will be
02:12strengthening as well.
02:13Coastal gales, that kind of thing.
02:15In the north, with the wet and windy weather, well, it's going to feel a bit unpleasant really at times.
02:20But further south, with the greater chance of some sunshine building by the afternoon,
02:24well, temperatures getting into the mid-twenties, so feeling pleasantly warm indeed for many places here.
02:30Later on, we are going to see that wet weather in the north continuing its progress eastward,
02:35so spilling across the whole of Scotland, parts of northern England, and then overnight we will see outbreaks of rain
02:40associated with that system affecting more central southern parts of England and Wales,
02:44but it won't be as heavy, won't be as persistent here.
02:48Just a bit of rain at times as that whole feature pushes its way eastwards.
02:52We are going to continue with strong winds across northern parts, so a blustery night to come.
02:57Even as that rain clears away, those winds will stay pretty gusty.
03:01Further south, a bit of blustery weather mixed in with the showery rain,
03:06but the winds lighter here than across more northern areas.
03:09With the cloud, the rain, the blustery winds, again, temperatures, they're not going to drop a huge amount.
03:14If anything, temperatures through Wednesday night look like they'll be ever so slightly higher than this coming night.
03:20So again, yeah, another relatively warm night for most.
03:24A bit of cloud, a bit of rain first thing on Thursday morning in a fair few places,
03:28but as that whole system clears through, southern areas where we see a bit of rain first thing,
03:33they will turn largely dry and largely sunny by our lunchtime,
03:36and even across more northern parts, most of the showery bursts of rain will clear away.
03:40And so it's looking like a largely fine picture across many areas by the time that we get to the
03:45middle of the afternoon.
03:46Like we've seen through much of this weekend, like we're going to continue to see,
03:49the best of the sunshine, or most of the sunshine, will be across central southern parts of England and Wales,
03:54cloudy at further north and still some blustery winds, but the winds will be easing across those northern parts.
04:01Temperatures similar to the preceding days, really, perhaps a touch higher,
04:04mid to possibly high 20s towards the south, but still mid to high teens or low 20s across those northern
04:11parts.
04:12I mentioned it earlier, but we do have high pressure building from the southwest,
04:16and that's going to become more widespread, more dominant as we head through later in the week and more so
04:22into the weekend.
04:23It may not spread across all northern parts, and so northern areas still likely to see some rain pushing through,
04:29frontal systems clipping in, and so a bit more changeable here.
04:32But further south, yes, high pressure, the big talking point for the weekend.
04:36So lots of dry, settled weather to come, and with that, we're going to see temperatures rising again.
04:41Probably only looking at high 20s for the weekend, but it's set to get even hotter than that as we
04:47go into next week.
04:48We will, of course, be keeping you up to date with all the details about any potential heat waves,
04:52so make sure you're subscribed.
04:53You don't want to miss an update, particularly our 10-day trend, which goes out on Wednesday.
04:57That could be pretty informative.
04:59I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
